Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather | Again?

McGregor is going to be embarrassed. The main point is, he and his weirdo fanbase have stated that he is going to win under boxing rules. They are so confident.

He isn't. He's going to be humiliated. So when he loses the whole "well I'd kill him under MMA rules" shit is pointless. I don't recall Floyd saying he'd beat your ass under MMA rules.

Hard to say he'll be embarrassed when he stands to make $100m for an hour (or less) of work.

I want McGregor to win but I know hes not going to. If he proves me wrong Ill be happy.

I must say, I'm not really impressed with Mayweather's admittedly-orchestrated attempt at pretending he's only half-interested in this fight. Sightings in clubs at 4am, no real footage of his training camp (we all know he's trained for it, of course) etc. - it all feels totally unnecessary to me. We get that it's all part of the act to present McGregor as having more of a likelihood to win than we all know he has, and ultimately, more PPV and ticket sales, but as a fan, I'd rather Mayweather trained his arse off and appeared to be 100% focused on the task at hand.

I don't know, maybe he feels he has everything under control, but it's a big risk to be taking and we've seen people in similar lofty positions look foolish before.

He does that stuff for all his fights though. They never show footage of him training I don't think that part is a slight just on McGregor. Obviously the strip club is new cos he's just bought it but in the build up to the Pac fight he was shown rollerskating etc.

It probably is mind games to an extent and he does play up to it but it's nothing new. For what it's worth build up to his previous fights shows him training at weird times like 4am etc to. The embedded episode he said he is training just does it in private so he isn't syaing he's not doing it.

Being in clubs at 4am is no preparation for a fight. I don't really care if he's done it before, it's still moronic.

In fairness he's the unbeaten fighter...I'm sure he knows better than all of us about what is moronic or not. If that's what works for him then we can't really argue with his record.

Just throwing this out there...

I had a dream last night that McGregor knocked Mayweather down in the 3rd round.

Last time I had a sports-related dream, it was the night before we played Palace away last season.

(I dreamt Pogba scored - it happened)

ooooooooooo.....

I'm looking forward to reading social media on Sunday morning. I've had people call me a McGregor hater and a typical boxing nerd who is out of touch for saying I think Mayweather will win convincingly when in reality I'm a McGregor fan who has watched him closely for years and actually prefer MMA to boxing. By far the most delusional fanbase I've ever came across.

It's really amusing seeing the MMA/McGregor lot falling for everything McGregor says. They truly believe he's going to knockout Mayweather because 'Mystic Mac' says so. Talk of 'unorthodox angles', 'Mayweather struggles v southpaws' and 'karate stances' is just plain ridiculous.

Mayweather will suss out McGregor inside three rounds and it won't be pretty for McGregor thereafter.

Yeah not really true for most MMA fans i know. I'm a big MMA and McGregor fan, and i don't think he'll get anywhere near Mayweather.

His confidence is hypnotic.

It is crazy, he has earned his right to be that confident in the octagon but it just comes across deluded when talking about boxing one of the great.

I'll still be rooting for McGregor on the night because out of the two, I dislike him the least. It doesn't matter who you are, first round everybody is dangerous.

It's a weird generalisation people make when it comes to the likes of McGregor. It's not true at all, most fans of MMA and McGregor I know (myself included) think he will lose this easily. It basically seems to me people find the worst of the worst on YouTube comments etc and use them to slate all McGregor fans. IT's easy to do that with anyone, it's easy to do it with a team like United, just go on our Facebook and read the comments.

Going by the drop in the odds for McGregor from the opening lines, someone believes he's going to win...and willing to put a lot of money on it as well.

I can't believe that the drop can be attributed to a bunch of small bets on McGregor, I know quite a few people who have stuck a tenner on him.

You should have a read through the MMA thread on the Caf. Pretty much none of the MMA fans here think this way

I would also consider myself a big McGregor fan and think its very unlikely he will cause the upset.

People believe different things for different reasons. I'm not going to dispute some people think McGregor will win but the original statement of "it's really amusing seeing the MMA/McGregor lot falling for everything McGregor says. They truly believe he's going to knockout Mayweather because 'Mystic Mac' says so" isn't really true.

People bet on outcomes of fights for different things not cos they're all deluded McGregor fans or something.

Maybe I should have qualified my statement better but, in my experiences, 95%+ of McGregor fans on social media are buying into his self-generated hype.

I don't frequent the MMA thread here as I'm not really an MMA fan, or enough of a one to post about the sport, but I'd imagine the contributors there are of a saner mindset.

Not at all. Every fighter has his pride. After all the shit he's talked, he's going to be humiliated. Back to MMA with his tail between his legs.

Also, the UFC will be taking a large percentage of his purse, so I doubt he clears anything close to $100 million, despite the talk.

Honest opinion. I have McGregor backed to win even though I can't see it happening. I think that despite all the experts etc not giving him a chance in hell that come Sunday morning the general theme will be that he gave an excellent account of himself in the Boxing ring and he'll have earned a lot of respect in the Boxing world.

I just hope the fight is on the level (and I'm not totally convinced it will be). A pre fight agreement between the two wouldn't surprise me at all. Or some bullshit finish that means there's a rematch so fans will be gouged again.

I think the reason is that McGregor brought in a lot of new fans, but they are first and foremost a fan of McGregor not MMA.
For example, my sister in law has never once mentioned about boxing/ufc/mma but the other day we had a heated discussion where she was deadly serious about McGregor wiping the floor with Mayweather. I mean she could potentially be right...but she has no idea about what Mayweather has achieved.

No problem with MMA fans who having are fans of McGregor, most talk sense.

This thread has actually been very reasonable, in terms of what people are expecting to happen. MMA fans especially.

Social media, though......jesus.

Yeah funnily enough I just saw this on Facebook under some footage of Mayweather Vs Canelo

"This is old footage mothertime has caught him up now When you train and fight you get to know the fight game you figure this out pretty quick your either a Lamp or a wolf ...tip for you casuals out their... be a wolf , Connor sleeps him in 5."

Dunno what's funnier..."lamp" or "casuals"
