Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather | Again?

Me neither. I think either way this goes., McGregor retirement seems a very likely outcome. I don't think he would fight again Boxing or MMA.

I just think the boxing world would struggle if McGregor won, so many boxing experts would be left with egg on their face. Fans like myself included.

I reckon he'll fight a couple more times in MMA, I think after this he doesn't fight in boxing again (mainly cos I think he'll be outclassed.) I like McGregor and find his and his teams confidence quite admirable but this is completely different to anything they've faced. I'm sure in the past they've genuinely believed they're better than their opponents, this time I just don't see it.

Boxing has been written off millions of times in the past though. If Floyd loses this it will be excuses after excuses, he didn't train properly, he's old, he got caught etc etc. He's not a full time fighter anymore. Part of me hopes after this fight we just don't see him again, I want boxing to move on from Mayweather but they seem incapable. I think he keeps making these returns until someone eventually beats him.

There will be no losers in this. Floyd could make something like $200-300m and Conor could easily get $100m .

To put that into perspective, Conor makes about $17m per UFC fight (including PPV points), so to make the $100m he will earn through fighting Floyd, he would need to fight twice in the UFC each year for 3 years. This is why imo, he isn't likely to fight much more in the UFC after this. Maybe two or three big money fights and then close up shop and go into other business investments.

Yeah I think he'll fight a couple more times. I think he'll do Diaz III which would be big money again and maybe Khabib, after that I think he's done though. Fair play to him made his money and got out which he always said he wanted to do.

I'd still love to think McGregor has some tactic that would work wonders, i'd love him to win convincingly... but i just can't see it.

And as for Mayweather going in on the front foot, how stupid would he have to be... and he's not stupid. He'll put on his usual masterclass of defensive effective boxing, allow McGregor nowhere near him, and win easily on points.

Come on Conor, prove me wrong!

Is it just me or has the hype not been anywhere near as much as it should be considering we're in the final week? Maybe I've just not noticed it, but there doesn't seem to be many people bigging it up now
Remember reading that the promoters wanted this fight to happen as soon as logistically possible after it was announced. As the longer the wait goes on, the more people realise how ridiculous this match-up is.

In fairness, Paulie has done a good job of positioning himself for a potential payday fight.

Paulie making a show of himself, If Conor was your sister you'd be at the stage of sorting the crazy ex Paulie out once and for all.
Move on with your life Paulie, nobody will want to see Conor box again after Saturday

McGregor with his casual homophobia again in the Malignaggi confrontation yesterday, I see...
What did he say? Can't find anything other than Malignaggi having a moan afterwards.

 Those mad lads at Paddy Power just paid out on Mayweather winning.

Floyd is eating burgers literally days away from the fight. You can tell he's taking this thing seriously

He does stuff like that on the build up to all his fights. The All Access stuff always shows him pretty much doing no training and just chilling out. They're not allowed to film his training but I reckon he's taking it seriously. I'm sure he's more confident than he's ever been in a fight but he doesn't strike me as someone who doesn't take things seriously ever.

That's very common in boxing. They dehydrate themselves to feck to make the weigh in which leaves them feeling like shit, then they go and they cram as much shit in as they can to get some weight and energy/power back. It's an indication of boxers taking things very seriously.

Yeah but the weigh-in isn't until Friday evening, I thought?

Is it? I assumed it would have happened already. Either way, eating burgers doesn't mean he's not taking it seriously. Athletes eat all kinds of junk food, they have to for the sheer number of calories required for their training. Michael Phelps eats whole pizzas, pounds of pasta, chocolate, litres of energy drinks daily.

Floyd doesn't have to boil down for 154lbs anyway. His last fight at 147lbs against Pac he came in at 146lbs.

Floyd isn't cutting weight to make 154. He's eating burgers on fight week because he can make the weight comfortably. I bet he comes in at around 152 at the weigh ins which are on Friday btw.

That's fair, I added this post under it:

I was reading something yesterday that there's still rooms available in the major Vegas hotels on the strip, which is pretty surprising.

I went Vegas a couple of years ago and got an email from the hotel I stayed at which is on the strip saying they had rooms this weekend still. That was the bank end of last week so not sure if they're gone now.

Whereas McGregor will nearly be 170 come fight night so must be doing a fairly hefty cut in comparison.

Nah, 155 is pretty comfortable for McGregor. He has looked a bit iffy cutting to 145 a couple of times but he's fine at 155.

It's because they tried to gauge this weekend and it hasn't worked. Just like the ticket sales. Thinking people would be stupid enough to pay $5000 for a crap seat. People are dumb enough to buy the PPV, but not spend $4-5k on a weekend in Vegas on it.

This.

There's an interest element but apart from the fans travelling dressed as Leprechauns, i don't think anyone seriously thinks McGregor can win.

I think the stoppage is there for Floyd if he wants it - not a clean KO but a stoppage. I know he has brittle hands nowadays but i think McGregor will tire before half way and end up a sitting duck.

What's the due time for today's conference? Got it on now but it's Schaub talking which I can't ever sit through. Starting anytime soon?
