Why is it a joke? Is it the first time this has happened in the history of sports?

This is not the army where you have to respect and blindly follow the orders of your superior officer, even if he's the biggest bad*** mother****** in the known universe. Good man management is a major factor in any team sport. In our case the players had every right to think they deserved someone better than Moyes.

When RvP demanded to leave Arsenal cause he had lost faith in Wenger's ability to win a major title none of us United fans had any problem with that. Wasn't it then a shame? He also believes he must follow a special training schedule because of his injury problems. The best manager in the history of the game accepted his request, David Moyes didn't. If i was RvP i'd be pissed for sure.

We also have Vidic and Rio, who due to age and injuries must have special treatment. You can't just play them in each and every game just because you're so desperate for some wins and you count on their leadership skills to get them. They know their bodies can't handle so many games. I understand that Evra's best footballing days are behind him. But he's still one of the captains of the French national team. You have to show him some respect and at least have a talk with him about all these rumors that he's going to leave in the summer.

Plus there are numerous other things with Giggs, Nani (are Young and Valencia so much better?), not giving Welbeck and Hernandez more chances despite that they've saved the day for him in many occasions, calling Jones stupid the other day etc.

Last but not least is Moyes' egotism and lack tolerance when things were going from bad to worse. These players have achieved so many things by playing a certain style of football. Of course a new manager must instill his philosophy, but when things go wrong playing it safe is always the better option. Especially if the new manager hasn't won anything with his tactics and has no charisma to make the team believe in him. Why should the players continue have faith in him when he's unproven and has led them from 1st to 7th? As Rio said back in the summer of 2002 when asked for the reasons he left Leeds: "I came to Man Utd because the have a great manager and they win trophies every year", or Keane back in 1992: "I joined them cause it seems that they'll be lifting trophies for the next decade".

Imo most anti-Moyes people here gave Moyes more than the benefit of a doubt. Honestly, i can't even feel sorry for him right now. He just seems like one of those mediocre people-in any profession- who gets super lucky and is given the job of his dreams despite the fact that other candidates are far more qualified... And he fails miserably.
We obviously think different. When I do something, I give it 100% and when I have finished I know I gave it my best. I have a certain pride about that, doesn't mean I was good at what I did, but I certainly did my best. From what I have seen, the players this season didn't give 100%. Almost a power struggle, trying to prove they had the power. The Everton game was proof of the pudding. So I don't accept that any player can look Moyes in the face and said I gave it my all for you. That is why IMHO they have absolutely no right whatsoever in going running to a higher authority. We will just have to disagree on this.

He has now gone, probably for the best for United and him.

Poor form from whoever leaked it first though. He didn't deserve to find out through the papers and other media.

I'd like to thank Moyes for trying his hardest here. It hasn't worked out for him but he seems a great man and I hope him future success. Thanks for bringing in Mata and starting Januzaj on his road to stardom.

I hope we don't spiral out of control now.

Agree. It's part of top level management and top level jobs. You are paid to make decisions.

But, strip it all back and they are humans as much of us. Emotions, a heart, a brain all the same. I'm solely talking about the human element. It must be extremely painful what he has been through. He should have expected it when he took the job but doesn't mean I don't feel for him. It's tough.

It is, it's never easy to bottle it at the top job. Not to mention some cnuts will give it to him everywhere he go.

But... I really wish him all the best, thanks for everything Dave. And sorry, it's nothing personal, I don't hate you as a person, just as a manager. Sorry you happen to be our manager at the wrong time and place.

Wish you all the best, grab some holiday and get some sunshine for a while

That's far too simplistic, remember how Chelsea looked under AVB and how those same players, albeit quite a bit older, are looking under Mourinho.

At no stage did I say that Moyes does not have to shoulder the blame. Evidently he does. But I dont see how that lets the players off the hook. To blame it all on the manager is equally "simplistic" and doesnt represent the reality of the situation.

The players owe it to themsleves, the club and the fans to give it their all. My opinion is that some of them haven't been doing that. Moyes can set a side up, talk to the players and send them out - but the players need to perform on the pitch. Too many have been hiding this year.

The AVB comparison is probably fair. Both he and Moyes have had the job of clearing out some popular and loyal players. That's what did for AVB (despite the fact that he was evidently acting on club instructions) because he lost the dressing room. The same seems to have happened with Moyes.

At the end of the day, I can see why the club are sacking him, because this is a results business and if he's lost the dressing room then that has to be taken into account. The concern is that the players don't like the next bloke either and start agitating. Whoever comes in will not be running the club like Fergie did and will want his own staff - just like Moyes did.

The MailOnline said that Moyes was sad and angry that he found out about it in the papers.
That is disgusting if he found out he was going in that way. Neil Custis was saying on Talksport last night that the it was not officially leaked by the club. If someone has done it off their own back they should be sacked. He should have at least been allowed to go with his dignity intact.

I'm relieved he has gone, but I think it is absolutely disgraceful the way the Club have handled his sacking. I can't believe they briefed journalists 18 hours before informing Moyes himself - completely lacking in class.

I can't pretend I'm disappointed. Wasn't my choice but I backed when he got the job, half way through it was getting harder and harder to support him and it did eventually hit a point where I thought " This just won't work". I think deep own we all feared that from the start.

MUST criticising the Glazers on SSN

It's very boring isn't if. Genuinely embarrassing, I have no idea what they're trying to achieve these days it just seems incredibly bitter.

I agree. Of course now we can all see he wasn't cut out for the job. But the players let him down as well and massively under performed but I suppose when you lose the dressing room you have to go.

Weird feeling. He's gone, and it's hopefully a positive decision in that we will get a manager with a much more prestigious pedigree. On the other hand, it just doesn't feel like the action Manchester United would take. I think yesterday was a bit of a PR calamity overall.

I still really hope Moyes gets back in the game quickly and succeeds again. I hope the United job hasn't destroyed him and his reputation
