Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

It's a no-lose situation for them really.

With 3 home matches now it's going to be a pretty fun time to watch us.

No doubt we will win them all and there's going to be calls for them to be given it permanently, which we must avoid.

Perhaps it isn't associated with the recent rumours surrounding Moyes' future at our club but I thought that the news of SAF taking up a teaching position at Harvard was interesting. If a new manager is appointed in the summer it's unlikely that he'd want such an esteemed figure casting his shadow over the club, so perhaps SAF, being an insider and figuring that Moyes will be replaced sooner rather than later, decided to take on this new endeavour in order to put some distance between himself and the new man's regime. Or not.

Hoping for a new manager who'll rejuvenate our club and bring attacking football and excitement back to the club.

Imagine if we get Klopp. Don't we deserve something that good to happen after all this :(

They were not posts defending Moyes but posts defending Moyes' few positives that other people unnecessarily tried to deny. There is a big difference here, I have never been back or sack Moyes but instead back the board.

I have maintained all along the board are in the best position to make a decision and I will back whatever decision they make. I made this clear to you also, and I made it clear to everybody else. David Moyes had under performed and whatever action the board take I will back because they are best placed to make a decision.

Just like Fellaini, who I defended when somebody called him a league two level footballer at best (but I'm not a fan of, in fact he scares me when he plays). David Moyes I defended when people were trying to make out he was a terrible, terrible manager and the positives he had achieved such as his away performances and strong results against lower teams were down to pure luck (which can be tricky fixtures, see Liverpool years gone by and Chelsea + City recently), I have always stated I will back the board's decision.

If the reports of them meeting with Klopp's representatives and Louis van Gaal's too, in order to discuss the possibility of taking up the job then they clearly were doing something right. You see, we don't have information like this, had the board opted to stick with Moyes they surely would have had a solid reason to do so.

You've now reduced me to a blubbering, crying wreck.

I thought that too. We went from Fergie being in the stands every match to flying across an ocean...

Gary is right though. This leakage to the press and uniteds half arsed response is pretty shabby against a man they booked for six years. Goodness the workings at united have changed. Still, i suppose sacking managers is such a new experience for the powers that be at united!

They should call up Roman for a lesson on how to sack a manager.

I'd imagine Moyes is fully aware his contract is to be terminated tomorrow. The press briefing was almost to allow the news to sink in, it was probably never going to be out of the blue.

I wonder what is going on through his mind right now lol.
I mean, if it is true, which it looks like it is, no matter how much money he has/will make from this, it must be horrible sitting in his house right now

Had it so good at Everton to lol

I feel for him to be honest. Even if (big if) he didn't truly feel comfortable taking the job or even wanted to take it, he would have been beyond stupid not to take it.

He's not an idiot, he's not a bad guy or a bad manager. He's obviously not the right kind of manager for this club, but I feel for him. Failing in public isn't nice for anyone (especially when they're a decent person), and money doesn't change that.

It has to be true with all these widespread reports.

It doesn't actually fill me with relief, now that it's come to this, even though I've been advocating his sacking for a while.

It just feels empty.

I feel for him in a way, but on the other hand he's really made things fecking difficult for himself.

I'm going to take a punt and say that if Giggs does take over for the remainder of the season, the plan is to get Van Gaal in to steady the ship, with Giggs as his right hand man being groomed to take over after a couple of seasons.

One thing for sure. If Moyes gets the sack im sure a few bottom half clubs will be willing to hire him. Think of WBA, WHU, Norwich type of club.

Newcastle get rid of Pardew and he goes there probably.

Pretty damning. At the end of the day you would think a united manager would be wanted by some of the top clubs...

Seeing him like that actually saddens me a touch, he's not a bad bloke deep down, some of his turning on the players and ex manager this season just the acts of a desperate man who had no idea how to crawl out of the hole he was in.

Agree, hard not to feel sorry for someone who is struggling so badly. This will hurt him a lot. Handpicked for the biggest job he could ever have hoped to get and it all went wrong, right from the very beginning.

Hope we pick the right guy this time. It sucks seeing the club chew up good people. I was reading today about how managers like McGuinness reacted to their sackings, it was not fun for them. Hope Moyes can handle it well.

I agree, Giggs should be assistant to whoever comes in for at least 5 years. After that we assess it again.

Very much agree with you. Nothing happy about this day for me, just means that we as a club have admitted defeat. And while I think it's for the best for the club going forward, I find it hard to enjoy it (like I thought I would.) It would have been so much better if Moyes had just stepped up to the task, but alas.

I don't understand, you knew I was backing the board and not Moyes. I said it that many times in the thread another poster told me "we all get it, now stop saying it", I only kept saying it because people wouldn't get it

I need my bed after the past couple of days. I feel sorry for Moyes but then I think about the nice severance pay he will get for doing an absolute awful job.

Ogden saying Moyes will have to show up to training as usual as this mess is being sorted out by the suits. That's some awkward 'The Office' shit at Carrington tomorrow.

It's a nice idea but can we really afford to take a chance on Giggs after all that's happened, even if it's after a few years? Would be a huge gamble imo and one that could once again run the club into the ground and diminish the reputation of a United legend.

Klopp, 47 in June, has compared his managerial style to "heavy metal music" and is something of a renaissance man. A complex character blessed with sufficient "personality" to make even José Mourinho seem a little boring. He has variously provided expert, highly rated, football analysis on German television, made a small fortune from fronting advertising campaigns and is an evangelical Christian. He is also noted for his loyalty and opposition to breaking contracts. When recently asked about United's perceived interest, he said: "Nobody at Dortmund has to worry about that. We're all in love with this club and how it does things."

I think that's pretty bad for him, even as someone who's taken the piss in this thread. That'll be utterly humiliating for the man.

Ancelotti 20/1 I think i might have a couple of quid on that one...

I don't see Giggs being a head coach at a club like United, really can't. He has to learn everything still on being a coach but suddenly he is going to become head coach of one of the biggest teams in the world, bullshit for me. If they can't think of anyone else than Giggs then they haven't gotten a clue and might aswell stick with Moyes.
