Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

SAF is partially to blame. There, I said it! The midfield. The Rooney situation. The choice of successor. The midfield.

In fairness I don;t think you will have too many fans not agreeing with you. Yes Fergie is a legend and rebuilt the club to the standard that we are at but he left an aging squad and a seriously dodgy midfield and also leaving the Rooney "situation" for someone else to clean up.
Yes I do believe anyone would have struggled however when I say struggled I reckon we would have been challenging for the title and not lost our way at home the way we have.

Oh where to start? UWS, Telegraph and a lot of sources ran with the 'Moyes to be sacked' story. Presumably having been briefed by the club. Then, no announcement from the club was forthcoming, then it was assumed due to the NYSE trading and any news having to wait after 4 PM EST. Another thought is United leaked the story hoping to pressurize Moyes to sell. There are a lot of sub stories like Danny Welbeck fake tweet which caused Moyes to resign, speculation on Van Gaal and Klopp, Bielsa to Marseille and Black extending contract with his current club. We still don't have a last word yet, but Talksport and BBC contacted United and they responded with the standard 'Moyes is still manager, won't comment on the long term as they are speculation'.

Apparently staff have been told there will be some news tomorrow, nobody knows what news. It could be the tea lady's retirement.

didn't know the staff bit... must be major, as him staying wouldn't be news.

Ive read all 50 feckin pages and you have done it in 5 lines ,you forgot about john the wizard from oxford ha!

I don't get the idea of Moyes being given time. He HAS been given time. Most managers get 2 months. He's had 11. Surely that's enough time to decipher a man's abilities to do the job?

I do... But on match days so no inside news. The anticipation is very annoying just want an offical statement now.

Will you be handing out free stuff on Saturdayt once Moyes is confirmed for the exit? :p

I imagine Neville will be vague. "Not sure what to make of it"..."He's obviously not met expectations"..."Players are also to blame"..."The club didn't back him in the summer"..."Nothing confirmed yet so why are we talking about this"..."4-4-2 is Manchester United".

Pretty much. I'm not bothering with it + I have a strong hatred towards Sky Sports so I am not tuning in. Neville is not stupid, he's not going to flip his story. He'll blame everyone and will say its a shame if true etc etc

Its a bank holiday in UK today, needs to be a board meeting to make a decision. No doubt this meeting is happening tomorrow.
The fact it is a bank holiday is irrelevant. board meetings like this will be handled via conference call. In fairness if you look at the board the majority are there because of the Glazers so if the Glazers say he's gone then he;s gone.

Ah they'll probably allow ten or so minutes near the end to discuss it I'd imagine. Gary may know something we don't too, I'm sure Phil has an idea what's coming.

When Phil made the 'Man Utd have failed' it was quite prophetic. American sports owners don't deal in failure

Andy Mitten says he's heard conflicting reports whether he is getting sacked or "has to" resign. How many he "have to" resign? How does this work? He's worded it as if Moyes is being forced into resigning. Do United have a clause in the contract where they can sack him and are cutting a deal with him where he can resign and retain his dignity? Otherwise what does he get out of resigning?

He should have egg all over his fecking face! he stated quite categorically that Moyes wouldn't be sacked...he'd be given time etc.I've no idea what he saw in the man from the outset
Think about how much Gary Neville looks up to and respects Ferguson. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a case of "Ferguson says he's the right man so he's the right man" for him.

Pellegrini earns 1.9m while Klopp 1.8m. Moyes is on 5.8m *

* According from the various reports from the media, haven't seen either of those contracts myself.

How would you be privy to their contracts anyway?

Hope not - imo nani should move, a solution which suits both parties. It's two years now since he went Awol.

He's the type of player who can gel well with the likes Kagawa and Mata while still providing width when we need it as well as pace which this team really lacks. He is of far more use to us than someone like Young.

We could play him on attack and confuse the shit out of opposition when they see two Van Persie's on our attack.

We could do the Da Silva trick and swap their shirts if one gets suspended.

He is earning more than the majority of our players. 5.8m pounds a year, I don't think that more than 5 players on our team get that money. He is the 7th highest paid manager on the world, gets 2m more than Pellegrini and Klopp together.
Thank! It supports my point I don't get it why some on here are feeling bad for him, a person who brought so much misery to our club and fans in a short space of 8 months and still insisting on staying.

I agree - I don't think many of us expected it to be this bad. I just don't see DM as worse than Maureen in the arrogant t@sser stakes. It's a shame he couldn't recreate the SAF magic trick - it was probably pie in the sky to think he ever could. It would have been nice, though.

The awkward moment when Pelligrini is basically on the minimum wage compared to his players.

To be fair though, he's paid 4 times the salary, and Moyes has very nearly got us into a position in the table 4 times the number that Man City are in.

I'm sure there's some serious incentives there in those other contracts, if those numbers are real.
Moyes would not have gained anything there, except maybe for making the CL knockout rounds.

Wow that's a lot of things happening in 4 hours!!

Thank you so much for the summary mate.. Since i have joined Redcafe this is the first thread that has grown at such an alarming rate..

Huh? What has Mourinho ever done that is worse than trying to deflect blame on the Sir Alex for this disastrous season?

Uhm...

Seriously... ?

Gouging an opposing coaches eye out might be where I start...

Or how about denying your own player medical attention and then lying about the situation...

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2006/oct/18/newsstory.sport

Mourinho's version

"My goalkeeper was in the dressing room for 30 minutes waiting for an ambulance. The ambulance could not go in the direction of the dressing room. He could not leave the dressing room properly. He had to go in a wheelchair in the lift when he had the injury. He left 30 minutes after my doctor called for an urgent ambulance. If my goalkeeper dies in that dressing room or in the process it is something English football has to think about."

South Central NHS trust version

17.15 Cech injured

17.20 Cech taken to dressing room. Chelsea doctor does not think ambulance necessary

17.45 Cech's condition deteriorates and Chelsea doctor requests ambulance

17.52 Ambulance arrives at Madejski Stadium

18.11 Ambulance arrives at Royal Berkshire hospital

We could go on.

Point is I am very happy if Moyes is gone, but some perspective might help.

And you pity Moyes because? He's not earning as much as the players granted but he also does not need to keep fit and motivated to perform on the pitch. He's being very dishonest by discrediting our players (saying even SAF would have struggled with this team, a team who just won the league title not so long ago).

He signed Fellaini and got Rooney a lucrative weekly wage and dare not sub him nor left him out when he's injured and yet to recovered. He's not being honest nor capable from start to finish, by bringing in his own men to replace experienced united coaches even it's not Sir Alex's preference he wouldn't.

He's not giving his players confidence by constantly projecting man united is a mid table team by expressing zero confidence in the media. He kept breaking records for United within 8 months and looked he's not having a clue how he could deploy his players properly. And he's not working for free. Why would you feeling bad for him? He's deceiving the club, the players and the fans by not delivering and yet keeping the job knowing long ago he's out of his depth in the job!

I think Oggmonster summed it up very well a couple of pages back. I'm not as upset by the season as most posters, granted it's not been enjoyable but it's been entertaining watching so many lose their shit over football.

I've heard from a friend who works within sky sports that a decision should be made tonight and that it will be in support of moyes - make of that what you will. :(
Well my friend just called Moyes up and he said he was being sacked...

There's enough uncertainty in the media, it doesn't need us fueling it!

That is assuming that our club is any smart. But when you consider that they hired Moyes, then all bets are off.
