Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

I think he should be able to go far in management, as far as possible. Maybe North Korea where they'd believe every word he says?

I know you lot hate ITK's so please don't shoot me down too hard for this but a friend of mine works for the clubs official photographer and he's telling me that he's 100% gone and our top choices are defo Klopp and Simeone.

No way this is a false report. So many sources speaking about it that it has to happen in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Odd thing to do IMO, comment on one but not the other. If I was them would just refuse to speak to anyone.

If they said "no comment" to him having been sacked it would just fuel fire that he had already been. That they're no commenting the latter is the telling part.

ok, i'm turning off my phone and not checking again until 10pm. if he has been sacked then i will perform a naked chicken dance and treat myself to a weed fuelled wank.

In other words; BBC asked United "Is Moyes going to be fired?" in seven million different ways and United responded with "Moyes has not been sacked" as an answer to every question. Cookie cutter answer every time.

It's going to be nice seeing Ryan Giggs giving out instructions for the final games. No depressing Moyes on the sidelines again.

How this place is going to implode if the club comes out and says this is all made up bullshit, would the gods be so cruel ?

Yeah, I agree so surely you'd just tow the line "We don't comment on speculation" say that to everyone who asks.

Nothing odd about it if the stock exchange speculation is true. The club is simply waiting for the end of trading hours. Until then they have to deny everything as they're obliged to report the decision to the NYSE first.

Klopp

This thread has been phenomenal. 36 pages already. Wow. I couldn't read a page without another page of comments ready for my reading pleasure.

I agree that it needs to be dealt with swiftly. If he's gone, do it quick, get the new manager in and let him do his transfer business quickly. If he's staying, put the rumours to bed properly and let Moyes get in without that hanging over him.

That would be horrible, but it's not going to happen, seeing as pretty much every reliable source out there is reporting it.

I'm glad Moyes is on his way out but I just hope to god we get his successor right, I will literally break down if we bring in someone like Martin O'Neil

It's a stock exchange thing. They're not legally allowed to announce his departure without briefing the NYSE and by making a statement saying that he isn't going to be sacked when he actually is would be unfair (although I'm not sure about the legality) on anyone who looks to buy or sell shares on that information.

Why do we have to wait till the NYSE closes today or before it opens tomorrow? :(

Can we just

up the time?

Yes but Bloxy was right that SAF has lost the plot.

Being more serious, it was a completely stupid decision despite SAF' recommendation. It was pretty obvious that it will end on tears. Probably hindsight now, but they should have done what Liverpool's owners did with Rodgers, making a lengthy round of interviews with several managers before they decided to get one. Hiring Moyes without considering the other candidates was extremeley retarded, regardless that SAF was convinced. A big decision should have been made by a few people, not just a single one, regardless his history with us.

It wasnt the right way to go about it, I'm not arguing against it. But it wasnt "stupid" by any means. They did what they've done all along, leave it to Sir Alex to take the footballing decisions for the club. It only went wrong because Sir Alex totally fecked up the decision.

They tried to do the right and nostalgic thing. The handing of the legacy to the person whom the beholder saw the most of himself in.

Unfortunately I think Ferguson was far too modest. Rather than accounting his success to his skills developed over a long career, he thought it was Scottishness, to our detriment.

It wasnt nostalgia. It was them letting the footballing guy take the footballing decisions, something they've done all along. things went wrong because Sir Alex ended up picking his successor based on romanticism about Scots than Moyes's ability as a football manager.

To those more in the know than me. Does it definitely have to be announced to NYSE first? If so, is the NYSE open today? If so, would it not have been announced early morning US time so midday for us?
Yes. it has to be announced to the NYSE first - stock exchange rules. It would be announced at a time when the NYSE is closed in order that no one could profit from inside info.

" BBC can now report that Manchester United have decided to replace David Moyes with Ian Holloway"
