Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

Thank the Glazer's for waking up in time and stopping this mess from getting any worse. I wanted Moyes out before the New Year, but i guess he had a top 4 clause in his contract which allowed the club to get out of that 6 year contract with a huge hit.

Moyes seems like a decent person, but he was not meant for this club.

David Moyes’s sacking by Manchester United has seen their share price soar to its highest level since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

United’s stock rose by almost six per cent to $18.78 (£11.12) on the New York Stock Exchange, just over three hours after trading opened at 2.30pm BST.

Monday’s news that Moyes was set to be dismissed prompted a slump in the value of United’s shares but official confirmation of his departure and Ryan Giggs’s appointment as caretaker manager led to a dramatic surge by more than a dollar.

That placed the overall value of the club at more than $3 billion (£1.78bn), £100m (£59m) more than Moyes’s final day in charge.

The last time United’s share price closed above $18 was on May 10, shortly after Ferguson announced his retirement following more than 26 years at the helm.

Listening to MUTV one last time before its cancelled and some person said they've stopped supporting United cos of the way Moyes got sacked

I heard the news just as I drove up to the coroners court and have had to contain my excitement while sitting through an inquest. Now home and am gonna catch up with what people think. Incidentally, the last time United had a player/manager in charge, my Great Uncle Tom played for them! That was in the 1920's!
I'm pretty sure Andy Mitten has written an article about that today (might be of interest to you).

Called it yesterday - "share price will rocket" were my exact words. The markets love that Moyes is gone. As do I.

Kinda mean but this made me chuckle a bit :

Feel sorry for him but I think it had to happen. It was too big a fall. Come across some people today who've said the squad wasn't top 4 quality but I think that's rubbish it definitely is, I think to compete for the title with it then you'd have needed a manager who was confident in what he was doing but the squad is definitely not top four so to be challenging for 5/6th at the moment is just too big a drop. Sometimes things just don't work out. I think he's got plenty of talent as a manager but it's just didn't happen. He's had some poor luck at times but I imagine that part of him will feel that maybe he was too cautious with his approach.

The club need to make a statement disclosing their reasons (obvious, I know but their reasons, not ours) and outlining their plans for the future.

I think we deserve that as fans.

Don't be so precious. You're a customer! You deserve emails asking you to buy up to 5 tickets for the next home game as well as Museum tours, MUTV online memberships and an opportunity to vote for POTY.

What do fans deserve anyway? You support your club, go to matches, make some noises, carry on supporting, coming to a forum. You don't deserve more than that to be honest. :)

I must have missed that bit. I swear we have the most precious, and highly principled set of fans.
That person can go support Moyes next club if he's that important.

Nonsense. No club in the world is anything without it's fans.

A message to let us know what their intentions going forward are wouldn't go a miss.

He was called Tommy from Dublin, he then went on to criticise the type of football being played, which surely is down to the manager. Paddy told him off when he said he wouldn't suppport us anymore and Danny Higginbottom pointed out about his criticism of play.

Thanks, I have seen a few articles. One, not sure if it was Mitten or not, states it was Hilditch in 1927. Was only talking about G. Uncle Tom the other day with my cousin and Aunty. (My Aunty was his niece). She was telling me a few stories about Nan and how she lived with G. Uncle Tom for a bit in Manchester. I doubt there would be any juicy gossip compared to today mind you, as it was very prim and proper back then. Though I did read that there was a bit of an issue with the previous manager to Hilditch but no one ever found out what he did.

LOL
So... assuming you're the PR guy who is drafting this statement (which you think fans deserve). Please do be creative and brave and use your best imagination to think of all the reasons (you can guess or just make it up) can think of so as to ensure the fans won't be starting a riot outside OT.

Come on you can do it. Have a go. I will be the judge to see if it is acceptable. :)

Have we scheduled a press conference yet? No word from someone at the club other than the generic statement, or did I miss something?

i feel relieved. The first time this season I have felt good about the club.

I can smile again.
There is a positivity today that we didn't get a year ago when Moyes was announced. This speculation and possibilities about who might come in and the football we might play didn't happen last time, it's like a cloud being lifted.

I love those old stories though.

There were some videos from the 1920s I think. You might see some rare footage of your Uncle.

"After a disappointing season in which the club's basic targets were not met we felt David's job had become untenable and it would be in both parties interest to end the association and explore other options. As arguably the biggest club in the world, we believe it important to be competing in the Premier League and Europe and we now look towards bringing in a manager who matches our ambitions. In the mean time we hand the reins over to the trusted hands of Ryan Giggs who has full support of the squad and club officials. We plan to have a more permanent arrangement in place before the summer transfer window opens in order to start plans to get the club back to a position more befitting of Manchester United. The club thanks all the fans, especially Redcafe for their support during this difficult time and apologise once again for making you put up with Gollum for so long, he really was a miserable cnut to have around the place and we hope he never darkens our doorways again. Safe. Peace Out.

Sir Bob."

What were the media or Liverpool fans like when Hodgson was sacked? Were some of them this precious about the sacking process?

Rumours going around for an evening and then officially confirmed the following morning, where's the drama in that? And all these pundits saying it was awful that we didn't even give Moyes a year and we lost our values and all that bullshit.... we sacked him because he was crap. It's as plain and simple as that

I agree on the relief but come on, surely you've had some moments of inspiration and hope this season? Match 1 @ Swansea? Januzaj @ sunderland? Turning over the Olympiakos tie @ OT? The 60 seconds after Evra scored in Munich?

And...wow, I can't really think of too many more.

I love those old stories though.

Yeah I did, in fact its what prompted the conversation with my Aunty and cousin. I sent the cousin a link as he is also a fan and the lucky sod is a season ticket holder. Have been through a few and when I get a bit of decent time off will be looking at them more closely.
