So as of the result yesterday, it is mathematically impossible for United to get 4th. News today that Moyes is getting the boot.

Chance that there is a clause in his contract that he must get top 4?

Has it opened? Forget how the time diff works.
Just checked and the NYSE is already open. If this news is true, the announcement could come at any time.

Having said that, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange is closed today. I don't know if that has a bearing on things because of the share sale a few months back.

I feel bad for him, poor guy must be devastated.

I'm am also absolutely delighted he won't be here next season.

I wouldn't really want Giggs as manager on a permanent basis. Not yet anyway. Klopp or Simeone would be ideal, preferably the latter as I think we'd have a better chance of snagging him. I feel under Giggs we'd play the same sort of football as we've seen under latter day Fergie and Moyes now, obviously speculating but I'd much rather someone with a set philosophy and Klopp and Simeone play exactly the sort of football we should aspire to play.

Agreed, it's a shame we've nothing to play for as having a legend like Giggs temporarily in charge may have had a Di Matteo effect on the team.

What about bringing back Phelan and Meulenstein?

EDIT: Realised its a stupid idea as I type.

In a heartbeat. SAF raved about them all the time. He openly said how Phelan ran the club for him in his final years. I reckon these 2 hold the key, be it in a managerial capacity/coaching capacity.

PS: 66/1 for Phelan as next manager... longshot?

Absolutely reasonable too.

If it happens, David Moyes' sacking is fair. There was and is absolutely no reason for the canings the lads have had this season, for the Champions plunging so quickly, for missing out on everything. We fans would have been patient if the football hadn't been so horrible at times, if the players hadn't been so obviously unsettled and unsure, if our club had been within striking distance of the title and cups even if this had been a season without a title or cup.

2 Huge Red Flag Quotes: "We aspire to be City". (David Moyes)
"Other players are playing the in the spaces I want to play in" (approximate quote from Robin Van Persie)

The rot cannot be allowed to fester. I don't feel gleeful about this, somewhat sad because David Moyes is a decent man. But he needs to be shown the door at Manchester United. He will do well again with a middle of the table club.

First manager outside of the British Isles to manage United?

The fact that all papers began to report it at the same time must mean they have been briefed. It was broken by The Telegraph with Ogden who has been right about a few things this season. I remember in the newbs we often discussed someone on Twitter who used to work for MUTV and now worked in sports photography or something. He broke the Mata news but I cannot remember his name or Twitter handle... his first name was Joe - anyone know?

Wouldn't mind keeping Woods, he's done a good job with De Gea. The rest can feck off with Moyes.

Hopefully Klopp can be persuaded to join us. If we go with Van Gaal, I'd like the next manager after him (Giggs or, as rumours suggested, de Boer) to be the assistant.

Would love it if we went all out for Klopp. Probably won't happen but one can hope.

Got a text from a cleaning lady at OT, she says that Woody and the Glazers have SAF's head in the toilet, flushing and waterboarding him till he agree's that Moyes is a plonker.

Woods has done his job and has really gone under the radar.
