Community Shield 2022: Liverpool v Manchester City 5pm BST 30 July

The Lukaku comparisons seem quite apt, imo. It'll no doubt take time for him to settle in and for that cohesion to grow. Not sure it's going to be as straightforward as many thought it would be.

Grealish and Haaland just aren't typical Pep players
Hopefully this is the case when the season starts. Everyone was raving about them against Bayern in pre season. Bet when the season kicks of they look like maradonna and pele

Hahaland will get goals but he's closer to Lukaku in play styles than people think. Lakaka would look like prime Ronaldo playing for Dortmund.

They also loose some qualities by getting a recognised striker. I think Haaland slightly reduces their ability to drag teams out of position.
Wrote this back in April. City will have to adjust to playing with a target man. Especially one that is not renowned for his technique and playmaking ability.

I was wondering why the FA did not pick a bigger venue than this. No disrespect to Leicester, but you need a much bigger venue than the King Power Stadium.
Because if the two sets of fans are going to trash any city, it might as well be Leicester.

Just by the rule transitive property. If we beat Liverpool 4-0 in preseason and they are beating city at halftime means that we are better than City by, say, 5 or 6 to 0 right? I mean that logic makes complete sense to me. Title is basically ours.

Jeez people still trying to pretend Haaland is like Lukaku. Will be made to look silly I’m afraid…

He’ll probably score 90% of his goals by tap ins.
Pep already contemplating subbing him am sure, Foden would be contributing a lot more.
I wanted to see Raiola-Haaland v Pep this season:(

Were Haaland and Grealish even Pep signings? Obviously, early days for Haaland and he could absolutely smash it, but they just don't seem like his type of players. Think it was more the club

Exactly why I didn't think he's the best suit for them, they wouldn't go direct and that's his forth.
He'll score goals though, but I see Pep subbing him off when he's seeking more control in game.
Agree, wouldn’t be surprised to see Pep leave him out come the big CL knockout ties

Looking at the HT stats City had the better of that half in terms of shots and possession. Didn’t feel like it but they had us pinned back as the half went on.

Keane and Wright going in on Grealish but maybe he's being told to play it safe more often by Pep?

Haaland is a weird signing for me. He's obviously a fantastic player (shrugging of Robertson like that), but he's just not a Pep player at all. Much like Zlatan at Barcelona. They even make weird missplaced crosses with him upfront.

Swap “fantastic” for “big and strong” and I agree with everything you’ve said there.
