@dxadel what do you think of this Birdman verse? He always raps about the same shit and its expected and accepted, I think what makes the verse you posted and this one different is the fact that he departs from his regular style/flow (well towards the end he goes back to his regular stop start style). Its the first one after Young thugs long ass hook

Yo! he snapped, he was actually making sense.

I hope this throws the notion that "Real rap doesn't sell anymore"out the window, Lazy artistes who have been in the game for a decade constantly throw this around when their shit flops, if you are real and you have a real fan base, you will sell records. Make an impeccable album and watch that shit scale through the roof.

Has anyone listened to that new Wale album? worth the money ?

I read an interview with him stating how depressed he was while he recorded it. He popped bills and took to the bottle. Maybe these are ingredients for a good album. I'll check it out soon

Been getting a lot of positive responses from people.

Yeah the footage wasn't scripted, it was Diddy without all the corniness, Oz was a dope show, became weird towards the end but it was cool - i knew it was time to stop watching it when they brought a juju man from Nigeria to control Adebisi....Lmao, he just had to die.

I have every single project Rozay has ever put out, (Well ever since he released Hustlin anyways), you can sit back and shuffle his discography because 95% of his songs sound the same, which limits him as an artiste but is perfect for when you are in the mood to feel like a Boss without having to skip songs.

I always wondered how Nas' later albums would sound if he had Rosay's production. Like you said there is little evolution in subject manner but the lush production more than makes up for it.

I genuinely can't believe people actually pay money to listen to Drake. The man is an insult to 'rap'

He can rap alright, but i've never been able to finish an album of his. Im not going to say he's not talented, but I kinda agree with you to a certain extent. I don't really consider him a proper rapper. He's a bit of a hybrid of an artist. I can never compare him or even mention him in the same breath as other rappers.

So, i've listened to Wale's the 'Album about nothing' and Ludacris' 'Ludaversal'. Both very solid albums, 7/10 for both on the first listen.

The album about nothing standout tracks: The intro about nothing, The white shoes, The God smile, the Matrimony.

Ludaversal standout tracks: Ludaversal intro, Come see me, Ocean skies (very personal joint for him, no spoilers), Charge it to the rap game

I want to disagree with you vehemently, but then again you may mean something else than what I interpreted this to be...

What do you interpret it to be?

That his basic rapping skills are mediocre, and it's the other stuff that makes him a great artist.

That I disagree with. Comeback Season and So Far Gone were excellent mixtapes that showcased his rapping talent. He went against Common (guy who took on Ice Cube once) and won. He's less conventional, but his abilities as a rapper are on point. Never mind his ability to pen catchy lyrics and hooks.

He's not a bad rapper, he's just not great. He writes good hooks and he makes hits. A lot of his fans talk up his mic skills like he's some sort of demigod. He's very good at best, and just capable for the most part. Also, his subject matter is very thin, linear and repetitive. We get that you stink at relationships already. He's a better singer than he is a rapper. I don't consider him solely a rapper. He's a hiphop/pop/R&B hybrid of an artist and most of his material is not pertinent to me personally. I respect what he does though.

He's a 'sweet' guy and I don't mean that to be insulting. He bares his soul and his emotions and his (mostly female-nothing wrong with it) fans love him for it. His demographic of followers is closer to that of Chris Brown than the regular hiphop artist. Finally on that 'battle' with Common, I don't see how anyone could even take it seriously and I agree that Common ended up the worse for it because there was nothing he could say to reduce Drake or make people look at him differently. Drake didn't score any points with it either.

Yes, he's very good. I will agree that he coasts a lot in songs and sometimes sings (he is a mediocre singer by the way), but his top level is up there. The subject matter is repetitive but who's isn't out here? Honestly, the majority of rappers find a lane and stick to it. Jeezy and snow, Common and liberation, yada yada...

I think his followers and fans cover a wider spectrum. When he drops a project or song it gets attention from all facets. Including hiphop heads that otherwise stick to a less 'sugary' version of music (jacking your metaphor). Says more about his ability to reach further than the quality of his music. The same way Biggie Smalls had mass appeal, and critical acclaim (not putting those two in the same sphere technically, just making a comparison).

I wouldn't call it a real battle as in the days of old, but going beyond Common's inability to find any weak point that would resonate on a verse with the public, Drake's diss was very, very well constructed.

Piggybacking on dxadel's post, he did have the underground acclaim before he blew up. Going pound for pound with the likes of Elzhi and Phonte, running with Bun B, the respect was there. His releases since he blew up may have declined in quality, but one can't take the pre "So Far Gone" period away from him.

Which diss you talking about?

Drake hardly fired a line at Common. He bitched about him on stage at his concert, that's about it.

Common came at Drake because he felt some type of way about Drake's relationship with his girl or ex girl (Serena) and Drake hit him with his 'stay scheming' verse, cant help but think that the entire rap community would have criticised Drake for coming at another MC because of a woman, if the roles were reversed but somehow Common gets a pass?

He barely fired a line at Common. Common's remix hit way harder.

it bothers me when the gods get to acting like the broads

Back when if a nigga reached it was for the weapon
Nowadays niggas reach just to sell they records - Commons album was about to drop.

Shawty wanna tell secrets about a rap nigga
I tell that bitch its more attractive when you hold it down - Serena

Im just hitting my pinnacle, you and pussy identical
you like the fecking finish line we cant wait to run into you.

Barely fired a line?

I just find it embarrassing to even care about childish "beefs". Each to their own I guess.

Beef is part of the culture, Rappers are always judged on their performance in a beef, it might not be as important as it was back in the day, doesn't mean its childish.

Jay Z v Nas
Big v 2pac
Kool Moe dee v LL
Common v WC
Canibus v LL

No they're not. Don't be ridiculous.

Yea barely??

He didn't get no 'W' as you said. He's never got any 'W' for that matter.

And I don't even dislike Drake. He is what he is. A bubble-gum rapper that you can have as background music and half listen to. Half his songs are 4 minutes long and he will only spit 16 bars on the whole track.

I'm just arguing this because I'm bored, but who isn't bubble-gum?

Actually never mind.

Drake vs Common was nothing like those. Common was foolish for getting into it. I'll never see Drake as one of those guys. Puffy hit the nigga and he can't say jack about him. He knows his position
