College Football & NFL thread 2007/8

I take it AK doesn't like the Colts to much ;)

It's pretty clear the top two teams in the NFC are Dallas and Green Bay. They will play in Dallas on Thursday, November 29th. I expect Dallas to win that game, finish up 15-1 and coast through the playoffs into the Super Bowl and a rematch with undefeated New England.

But who knows what will happen.

At this current moment in time your prediction is likely, but Ive seen some odd stuff happen in the NFL playoffs. It would be so fitting if the Patriots feck up this year in the playoffs, especially after all the times they prevailed as underdogs

Two undefeated teams - one epic National Championship:

Kansas v. Hawaii. Oh, nevermind

IMO, they should already be considered a dynasty.

I agree, but many i know don't feel the same.

With the Salary cap rules etc. i think its harder to have a sustained period of success like they have had, it's a credit to their coaching staff and front office that they've not seen a superbowl and just rebuilt straight away.

2 lombardi trophy's in 3 years in todays climate is outstanding...progressing through the AFC no less which is a few leagues above and beyond the NFC at the minute.

They are dynasty but doubt they'd have won SBs in the 90s against the likes of Dallas and San Francisco. It's harder to compare against other eras as players are faster and stronger and the game has changed so much in the past 20 years. But if you gave those players in the 60s, 70s, and 80s the same nutrition, weight, and workout programs players have today, those Packers, Cowboys, Raiders, Steelers, and 49ers teams of yesteryear would still rise above the crop. NE has done a remarkable job in the present salary cap era (which I should add that the cap era of the last 7 years or so allows for much more room to sign big contracts than it did in the first 5 years). They've won some very close playoff games where as the likes of Dallas and San Francisco often destroyed playoff opponents.

Please don't remind me of the Cowboys blow out wins in the 90's.... being a Bills fan and all I remember at least 2 really well... :annoyed:

If Moss is motivated there is no one that can stop him. And right now he's motivated....

He has been the best when he wants since he was a rookie, certainly the most talented receiver of all time

I went to the same University as Moss. In college it was a joke watching the opposing teams try to cover him. They would triple team him every play and Chad Pennington would just keep throwing him the ball because he knew they weren't going to stop him. It was almost laughable...

He was great at Marshall, couldnt believe he slipped to 19th in the draft, he was clearly as talented as anybdy, but people were afraid of his character. I say who cares he is a football player not a pope

Him slipping that far was pretty dumb. His only character flaw was being caught for possession of Marijuana at FSU, which got him kicked off the team. He never had any problems while at Marshall. We knew that all those teams that passed on him were going to regret it.

He originally had a scholarship to Notre Dame but lost that due to involvement in some high school brawl (if memory serves correct).

Still rue the day Jerry passed on him and drafted Ellis. I believe Dallas would have represented the NFC in the SB had Moss been drafted. Denver would not have been able to stop both Irvin and Moss and Smith plus Warren. Would have been a great SB. Would Moss still be in Dallas? Doubtful...he'd have moaned during the bad years (2000-2002) and would have been shipped out.

That much talent on one offence would have been sick.

Damn the Broncos played there second good game of the season last night, it only took 10 games!

Vince Young looked like he could be a good passer last night, he still can't throw on the run though.

Denver played well, Andre Hall, a great moment for him 60+ yard rushing touchdown.

Jay Cutler looks the business as well.

Very worried for my Eagles rolling into Foxworth Mass. on Sunday.

Cutler is gonna be a star, strongest arm in the NFL

Thing that grabs my eye about Cutler is that he has the speed of thought, as well as foot speed to keep plays alive much like Mcnabb does to an extent.

If Cutler stays healthy he'll have a great career.

Titans recievers were rubbish last night, but that grab from their TE was something else...can't believe no one didn't review that.

Cutler had a good game but he's had a poor season so far. Whats even more fecked up is next year NE will get a draft pick from the 9ers that looks like it might be a top 5 pick.

The Pats front office know how to run the show.

All credit to them.

Cutler has had a hit or miss season, but you i feel you can see it in his general play that he has what it takes.

Although it was a piss poor Titans secondary on Monday.

That's why people felt the NFL let NE off easy for the spygate stuff. The NFL should have taken both draft picks away. Instead the memo is you can cheat and we'll take away one draft pick and fine you a paltry sum ($500k is nothing to a club that earns $150m in revenues), but if you have more first round picks you can use them.

To set a tone for all other clubs the NFL should have taken both first round picks and fined the club $5m.

I'm still curious that if the video tapes sent to the NFL office had no damaging evidence why were the tapes destroyed? Hmmm...

So did Kelly Stoufer and Ryan Leaf. Heard they were shit. :p

Look at the top quarterbacks all time, almost all had either an incredible arm or a quick as feck release. Players like Elway, Favre, Unitas, Moon, and Bradshaw all had guns, where as most of the other great qbs like Marino, Aikman, Young, and Montana relied on a quick release

Three turkey-day games today. I predict an upset in the Packers game against Detroit.

we'll get Les Miles or Ron English which should improve our recruiting ten-fold, ive been saying it for years that Lloyd was past it but no one would listen until after that game that i wont mention

Usually coaches that when national titles can coach as long as they want look at Bowden, Paterno, and all the older coaches

My Michigan sources* are telling me it will be English. I also think it's time Florida State retired Bowden and hired a new coach. Too much talent there to be consistently 7-4. Badly coached team now days.
