That’s the biggest worry. The other 4 siblings really need to pile on the pressure when this 2nd bid goes in because by the sounds of it Joel and Avram are still desperately clinging on.
Of course they want to sell.

Reporters have to put doubt in it now just to make it interesting. They aren't going this far with influencial bidders just to tease.

I still find the notion that 2 of the siblings would pass over absurd profit in the form of 5-5.5B for the club they only spent 200M of their own money for 18 years ago quite hard to believe given everything we know about them.

If the rumored figures are indeed real, they'll absolutely sell.

How would them claiming that they're ready to invest billions more in capital top of the club valuation fee they'll pay for the club strengthening the INEOS bid?

What's the logic there?

A comprehensive plan to spend upwards of 10B+ to modernize all facets of the club somehow being helpful to a rival bid doesn't make any sense

Because they've already told the bidder's to shut up and stop making them look bad.

Were dealing with very insecure and petty people.

So this constant PR stunt by the Qataris probably doesn't sit well with them. And if the bids are very close, it might just tip the balance.

Or, they see this guy spoiting off about spending £7bn on top of what he pays, and they're gonna asking him for even more. And why shouldn't they? Worst case, they accept SJRs £5+ bn offer as back up.

I'm basing this on the type of people the Glazers are. And while they certainly like money, they're also incredibly self conscious.

Which is why Big Jim and his big loans won't be able to compete with an extremely cash-rich Qatar.

This is as good as done, in my opinion of course.
What if Sir Jim's second bid is the same value, but the Glazers keep 25%. Or what if Sir Jim's second bid is the same 4 bil, with Elliot making up the other 1.5 to 2 bil. This isn't done, and there are a lot of disastrous possibilities left.

I wouldn’t put anything past those parasites. We’ve been burned too many times by them over the years that I’ll take nothing for granted and won’t be at ease until everything’s official and the new owners are standing in the middle of OT.

If he's buying less of United than Qatar for roughly the same money, that's a bigger bid.

I don't think he'd do that.

What if Ratcliffe just decided that he will give them 6 billion and they can keep the club.

Just imagine the reaction to them staying. In the annals of legendarily long and ultimately unsatisfying Caf threads, this one would surely exceed Sneidjer/Fabregas/Thiago/De Jong/Vidal... combined.

SIr Jim can't outbid Qatar, however the Glazers were supposedly really impressed with his presentation. Remembering last year when Sir Jim flirted with trying to buy United he met the Glazers and sung their praises. I still think Qatar will win, but considering Joel and Avram are still rumored to want to remain, and they all seem to like each other, it's not out of the realm of possiblity there is some sort of partnership between Sir Jim and the Glazers or Joel and Avram exclusively.

World record is only like 3.7 billion pounds or something.

Glazers want 6 billion pounds. (Not counting debt. Any owner who wants to have to pay that off themselves afterwards)

Just because it's a world record doesn't necessarily mean it'll be close to what the Glazers will accept.

While it's possibly a misunderstanding, it's still reported that Jassim wants 100% and Jim 69% and at the previously reported figures, Jim's bid is higher.

69% gives 100% control, so if the above was to be correct, SJR would already have money saved that he could in theory, invest into the club.

Do the 31% really need buying out? Some of them are literally just random fans with £20 shares they bought years ago, often as gifts or keepsakes. Ultimately they are worthless and the 69% owner could just dilute their worth even further if they pleased.

Do they get dividends? To answer my own question, yes at $0.09 per share.

There would be a meltdown of monumental proportions. The Caf would be in a permanent state of “She cannae take the strain, captain!”.

Indeed. Ratcliffe and Qatar have both already exceeded the world record bid with their indicative offers. The Glazers want more.

They are asking for big trouble with statements like this

If that's truly their attitude I almost want them to stay so they can see and deal with the reaction, then they can sell next year for half the price once fans destroy any and all sponsor relations.

“Tell everyone I’m going to make a World Record bid this evening!”

“Is it the number the Glazers want?”

“…….”

You think Ratcliffe and Ineos don’t have a plan post retirement? You don’t think it’s something they have considered? He’ll just shut everything down and retire to his armchair?
It’s worth noting that it hasn’t actually been reported that the whole bid is debt funded. The JPM and GS loans and bonds are to do with covering the current debt, and as I understand it potentially the stadium refurb/rebuild. I’ve seen nothing that states he is borrowing to pay for the club acquisition.
INEOS is a vast company with interests in many sectors, not least their huge sporting arm. Is Mercedes F1 or Sir Ben Aynsleys sailing team part of a chemicals company? Don’t be absurd. The way you word your descriptions is just facetious.

Yes the portion of Mercedes F1 owned by Ineos is obviously part of a chemicals company if it's owned by Ineos rather than Ratcliffes personal wealth. I'm not seeing the debate here?

Red Bull f1 is wildly successful. Its also a division of a drinks company and subject to the whims of that wider ownership group

I don't get your big issue here. If It turns out that Ratcliffe is trying to buy United independently from Ineos then fair enough il shut up. But pretty much everything I have read has suggested that Ineos would become the owner of United, which includes putting the goldman sachs debt directly onto the books of Ineos. So yes we would be pretty objectively fall under a petrochemicals company.

From a friend of a friend.

Glazers are 100% selling. There will be no minority investors.

Which has been obvious for some time but now they’ve heard.

I don't like these rumours about Glazers and Ratcliffe. Only Qatar can save this club. It must be them. Rival clubs are practically begging it's Ratcliffe, because even they recognize the club will continue to go nowhere with him in charge, and they can breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Yeah that tells you how much rivals fear Qatar

If they decide to stay, the next game will be getting called off you can guarantee that. The fanbase will go mental hours before kickoff. It'd make the Super League announcement look like Playbus.

Good for us they are not staying then.

We would become a division of a chemical company.

I fail to see how that is "shitting on INEOS" hence why I said his reaction to that was disproportionate.

Yes that part fair enough, but the rest was largely speculation.

I don't care about anyone shitting on INEOS/Jassim to be honest.

They've never cared, this is nothing new. Fans stormed the stadium and had a game postponed and they didn't care. Fans polluted the family members other companies with bad reviews and they didn't care.

They will care if they cant get games on and it effects them financially.
