And hopefully, you aren't like your namesake and miss the flights. :smirk:

But tbf, Qatar's a decent airline. Not quite Singapore Airlines or Emirates level but pretty close -- though the main surveys have Qatar as no 1 in the world.
I fly transcontinental flights regularly, and I must say Qatar is less busy and nicer aircrafts but Emirates overall customer service is better. Just.

fecking hell.

Absolutely disgraceful response. Some of you are really showing yourselves up.

I have openly admitted I am going to look a hypocrite about Qatar because criticised City in the past, however won't make me feel any trophies won under it are tainted.

The FA and UEFA had allowed states to buy clubs thus giving cheat codes to those clubs to win. Meanwhile it had punished United by allowing it to be bought by these scoundrels who had crippled us with their debt. What most of us want is a level playing field. The FA/UEFA can either force the Abu Dhabis, the Saudis, the Qatars and all the Oligarchs to sell their clubs and feck off from football for good or else it can retain this level playing field in which case we have every right to be in. There's no hypocrisy in that

Yeah the horse bolted on that sort of ownership way back in the summer of 2003

I remember a time when state/oligarchs club ownership didn't existed. Chelsea were inches away from financial meltdown and City were in 2nd division and loaning players from us in a bid to survive. Its pretty evident that these clubs are living on the money pumped by their sugar daddies to our expense. So now, asking for at least a level playing is not hypocritical at all.

A bit of nostalgia:

We can only speculate but by currents thoughts are this -
  • As reported as far back as last year, the Glazers may already have a buyer lined up for united, original reports were that this would most likely be an American consortium.
  • Raine Group are being used for the sale who only progressed US based bids for Chelsea.
  • Raine Group did not want news of bids from JR Qatar to be made public - why? because fans may unanimously throw their weight behind one of the bids and reduce the Glazers bargaining position. There are two other significant bids that are private.
  • The Glazers only concern is money - that is getting the most they can now and balancing this with not losing out in case the clubs value sky-rockets in the next 5-10 years.
  • There is now talk of the glazers wanting to retain a decent sized stake, if retaining not control (say 30% as an example).
Balancing the Glazers only two interests, above, and knowing that they can't increase the value of the club themselves with the necessary investment etc. I suspect that there is a US based consortium who have been lined up, who are willing to put in the $5-6bn to buy a majority stake and upgrade OT and facilities etc, all with a view to increasing the clubs value over the next 5-10 years. This will in turn increase the value of the Glazers remaining stake, so that the club can be sold for a much larger profit ($10-12bn perhaps) in future - a relatively short term investment that generates a huge profit for all involved.

I essentially think that the public process that is being followed may be a forgone conclusion with the likeliest scenario being US based consortium ownership and the Glazers milking their remaining stake in the coming years. We might end up with several parasitic US billionaires trying to flip a quick profit on the club.

My biggest issue with this is I don't think being the best team/club in the world is a motivation of the above.
When this turns out to be correct..

I keep thinking the b@stards are playing games and won't actually sell up and pee off...

It's not nostalgia really but a matter of not wanting my club to keep competing into a race that is clearly fixed against us. I understand the ABUs for not wanting Qatar to buy us. The thought of a debt free united must scare the crap out of them. I don't understand the thought process forwarded by the top reds though. It's like insisting that our GK won't catch the ball with his hands because the sports in question is called football.

Everything is possible but I doubt it. United’s infrastructure is a mess (2b expense bad), the credit card had maxed out, most glazers want out and we are losing money. Its impossible for Avram/Joel to retain control on the club while concurrently buy the others out and invest on the infrastructure + squad to bring us back on top. Don't forget that they don't sell now then Qatar and ineos will probably end up investing in another club + it's only a matter of time before saudi turn Newcastle into a football juggernaut. That means that it's getting tougher for a predatory style of ownership run club to make it to top 4

...and that is what we don't want.

Why opt for Elliott and co if someone is willing to buy the club ,make it debt free,renovate/build the stadium with cash, etc ?

Feckers like Elliott are the last thing we need

I don’t agree or disagree with fans like this I’m probably like most oblivious now to all the noise!

What I do know is the more you look into the Glaziers tenure, you realise that never, ever has more self centred selfish owners of a football club existed, this may not be their fault as Malcolm Glazier originally owned the club, not the six siblings. Even now they are trying to rinse the last few dollars out of the club and staying longer than they should so as to ruin the new owners opportunities within the summer transfer.

Do I want United to be the Flagship in a United Style group where Qatar own multiple clubs around the world, Hell No, Do I want SJR putting the Manchester back into Manchester United when he’s a tax exile in Monaco , Hell No can’t see that working either but here’s the most important question ?

Do I want the biggest parasites in football to continue to run our club into the ground where we continue to be the laughing stock of football, eventually resulting in relegation to the championship and bankruptcy!

Hell No more then Hell No previously so begrudgingly I’ll accept anyone but the Glaziers and I think most united fans see it very Much the same way

When this turns out to be correct..
If this is true. Only thing I think is won’t the Qatari and INEOS have figured it out? If they haven’t then imagine the anger they could stir against the glazers when they do and announce it publicly.

So I think it’s unlikely the Glazers would do that. 1) risk possible riots. 2) completely ruin their credibility in the business world.

Am I reading Sir Jimmy wants to bin off some of our resident posters' favourites Murtough and Arnold? Say it isn't so

Every prospective new owner will bring in their own people.

Everything INEOS touches turns to gold doesn’t it…

I hope this article about Ratcliff’s plans pisses off the Raine group and the glazers, just like the way he did in the attempted Chelsea takeover by himself.

I’m all honesty, giving details of his plans smells of panic that other bidders are favoured in the process to win. This article is a ploy to garner support from the ‘Manchester’ based Utd fans.

Sky dominated the tour ineos won one, Mercedes pre ineos were unstoppable now they are the joker team.
A friend of mine is a well known Cycling journalist he told me some stories about INEOS and it’s a bit of a joke.

Why does there always have to be some cynical motive at play? Can it not be as simple as the man genuinely wanting to make United great again
