I would never accept it. There wouldn’t be much I could do but I would NEVER accept such wealthy people putting so much debt onto our club and holding us back. To me Jim is the 7th Glazer. Jassim is a fresh start, a new era and the brightest future. I’ll shut up now as I’ll probably be disagreed with and shot down.

This is it in a nutshell for me

Sir James Arthur Ratcliffe FIChemE

Who did this shit?

Whoever it was can we also get Poch autocorrected to Mauricio Amadaeus Roberto Pochettino Trossero?

On the timeline. On the night of March 30/31, 1944, RAF Bomber Command launched a raid on Nuremberg. It was a bright, moonlit night and the bomber stream was picked up over the Belgian coast and was attacked all the way to the target. Officially, 96 bombers were lost. Rumours spread that the target had been leaked and in the 1970s, in a book called 'Bodyguard of Lies' the author interviewed a high-ranking wartime intelligence officer who stated that a raid target had been leaked through a highly-placed Allied agent so that future information from this source about D-Day would be given weight by the Germans. Conspiracy theory? Well another author managed to get his hands on the original raid plot. On it was written 'They knew we were coming. Careless talk costs lives.' More British airman died during that raid than during the whole Battle of Britain. My dad piloted a pathfinder Lancaster to Nuremberg and back that night so I thank my lucky stars he came through unscathed.

Great story and I'd fully believe that kind of thing went on.
Glad your Dad survived and if he's still with us thank him from me for his service

Has any potential owner in history ever been as hated as Jimmy boy before they have even bought the club? The first broken promise or not matching what SJ has offered it’s going to get ugly very quickly.

It's as bad as being unable to refer to the 115 FC manager by his true name (Båld Fraud) without being auto corrected.

Malcolm Glazer.

I heard that Donald Trump tried buying an American football team in Buffalo about 10 years ago, but even that would pale in comparison to a scenario where Jimmy Rat facilitates the Glazers staying on, even for only a few years.

1945 was a good year. its coming.
also for those who like their bottles of bordeaux, 1945 was a truly exceptional year, vintage of the century year.... bordeaux is red. its all happening soon.

Okay. You're entitled to that opinion, of course.

But they won't be in charge, or even have a say once they are no longer majority shareholders. And I VERY much doubt Sir James Arthur Ratcliffe FIChemE wants them to stay on. That's a ridiculous statement. As for calling the guy a rat, that seems largely based on your false assertions about him. I get that you may have picked a side in this, but we really don't know what's going on behind the scenes(at all... nothing concrete from either side...NOTHING), so maybe chill out on the rhetoric?

edit: whose idea was that stupid autocorrect?

They have the chance to walk away into the sunset with over 10 times their initial investment after doing a horrible horrible job and making the club the laughing stock of world football. This is also after taking hundreds of millions in profits over the years. All on the back of their dads ruthlessness in business, nothing based on their own talent or flair for business. They haven’t added anything at all, in fact they’ve diluted the power and decision making and they’ve just taken the cash and remained silent as the infrastructure reputation and brand power fell down around them. Now this is their best and probably final chance to hand the club (and the local area and community) over to people who can 100% guarantee a totally debt free fresh start. Endless investment and possibilities for the community that they ignored and the club that they neglected and a huge windfall for them too into the bargain and still they hang on for a few more quid in case something lucrative happens in the future? Rotten mismanaging absentee uncharismatic money sucking landlord vampires sucking every last bit of meat off the carcass daddy left behind. They will be the ruination of us one way or another. Through staying on and letting Jim in with his debt management or by digging in and eventually scaring away the only show in town that can fully buy them out and set us free. Either way we lose and they win which has always been the case with them around. They couldn’t give a shit about Manchester or United.

The rat knows how hated the glazers are and he brought them into the equation and gave them a pathway to stay on. This would have been done by now and new owners in place for the transfer window and new season but the rats actions have dragged it out. Either bid for the whole club from the start and if you can’t feck off and allow someone who can.

You'll get no argument from me on any of that. I was there protesting against them before they took over. I would rather they were carried out on stretchers or in handcuffs, than take any more money from the club.

But, we have two really bad options to take over from them, from what we've heard. Ruling out, and making stuff up about, one of those options, just because they will retain some public shares, seems odd to me. That is what I was pulling you up on.

I completely agree to be honest. Ratcliffe will just be a continuation of the Glazers and quite possibly be even worse. I’d really fear for us if he takes over, I think we’d end up in terminal decline.

I hear he sacrifices babies and plans to sell OT for scrap. Seriously some of you have worked yourself up into such a fuss.

There's zero justification for your statements beyond the emotional reaction to potentially not getting your way.

Glazer control being removed and an owner not leaching the club via dividends is a massive improvement. We might not have unlimited funds but the club will be fine supporting itself.

This is gaslighting of the highest order.

Any United fan that is happy to have the Glazers stay needs to have themselves examined for severe case of hypocrisy.

Has he come out and said that the Glazers are off the board if he takes over? If they keep the reported 20% of the club I promise you they will want guarantees that they have a say in the future running of the club before they sell.

Yep, this. It's like supporting a hobbled horse.

You still want and hope it'd win the race but you know it's unlikely, so there's only ever so much you can feel excited about it participating in any competition.

I agree with all of you and it saddens me deeply to think of a Utd being ‘ran’ by Ratcliffe and the Glazers with a mountain of debt.

But my point was really just that when it’s announced, I think it’s better to focus on what you hope for the club and support the manager who has been totally fecked over by these 3 already.

Better to channel energy into that is essentially what I’m saying.

But I agree with the sentiment of all of you.

That state these cretins got Utd into is so sad. It shouldn’t have ever been allowed. They’re crooks.

Michael Lindsell (UK based company) is the biggest class A shares owner. He is the one who is threatening to sue the Glazers if they decide to sell to Jim. If SJ fails, Lindsell will miss out on huge profit. Ariel investment (US based) the second largest class A shares holders.

A true hero

Agreed. This is entirely speculation on my part, but I can't help but feeling like this process was initially meant to be a farce where the Glazers served the club to the Sheikh on a silver platter since Avram's trip to the World Cup. How could there only be 2 serious bidders seeking control of Manchester United? In my mind, the general belief held by anyone who may have had interest in bidding initially were turned off when they caught wind of the Qatari bid. Ratcliffe remained undeterred given his affinity for unsuccessfully bidding on football clubs, love of media coverage, and what I believe to be a genuinely strong desire to own Man United.

The process started to become uncertain when the Sheikh did not bid aggressively as I'm sure the Glazers were banking on (a la Harrods), and was thrown into absolute turmoil with Jimmy Rat's uniquely structured bids and infighting between the Glazers.

They made it up early on and like every bad rumour it's now fact.

Rather than fight it, just enjoy it as the entertainment it is.

I wouldn't take it seriously if he has said anything either way. It's all bluff and negotiations up to now.

But there's no way he wouldn't have full control. There will of course be some guarantees built in to protect the share price, but even if there's a glazer on the board, they won't be making the decisions any more. That is what's most important.

Let’s be honest no one actually knows anything regarding the Takeover, just a hunch but I’d say right now the percentage is 45% SJ, 35% Jimmy boy and 20% they stay and mull over things another year, the reason why SJ probably has the edge, he has the money now and will probably get so fed up with how embarrassing this has been to his family name that he will give them the £6bn plus the debt as a genruine take it or leave it offer and if they say no, he’ll walk away and SJR might do the 51/60/69% deal but it will be less money than SJ offered? Can’t see any movement now until the season starts at the earliest !

If you are on the board, you are a part of the decision making. If the Glazers are completely out of the loop I'll gladly support our new owner, whoever it is. But I will never trust an owner that keeps the people who brought us ruin on the board.

Why would anyone support a bid to be state owned? People have different opinions and priorities. There's so much misinformation out there anyway. Mostly anti-Ratclife. He already said the debt would be moved to INEOS so not on the clubs books any more but everyone conveniently ignores this to parrot some lie about loading the club with more debt.
He never said that. He said no new debts will be added onto the club. 700m is going nowhere.

Made what up? I must of missed Ratcliffe saying he was no longer keeping the glazers on and clearing the debt. Also any promises on the ground and facilities. These are the reasons people don’t want him. I don’t understand why his fans don’t see for a large number of fans the glazers staying on in any capacity is a red line that they won’t meekly accept. Jim being the top red that he is would have known that when he took off his slippers and jumped, or was hoisted, into bed with them.

They well could be.

As United fans we've sort of got used to being able to see whether or not the club is being shafted so it's just odd in my opinion.

You forgot to add to the end of the highlighted part 'and do absolutely nothing about it'.

Jim’s bids been dead for ages, I don’t think it even stands anymore.

It’s Sheikh or nothing.

There are a lot of planes
A lot of 'planes maybe, but in my experience they are doing bugger all when I get there :). I have flown 9 times from Ringway in my life, and each one has been late. I have flown many, many times from Stanstead and never, ever departed late. I put this disparity down to the Glazers.

Nothing fascinating added to the conversation; just an observation.
