Yeah I know but very different to owing an external party. Hence the joke of state owned cubs who can self sponsor, self finance and generally kill any whiff of football being competitive. It's still borrowed cash
From the bloke who wants people who support the Qatar bid to burn in hell.
Can't make this shit up.
Bristol City is my local team that my dad took me to as a kid and I have it on my profile in his honour. Why what has that got to do with anything I have said?
Someone needs to do a poll. Frenkie De Jong original thread versus this one, which was worseSomeone burn this thread to the ground

You said we and your profile states you support Bristol City, maybe change that to include United and then the we makes senseBristol City is my local team that my dad took me to as a kid and I have it on my profile in his honour. Why what has that got to do with anything I have said?
I don't disagree. I'm just pushing back on the notion that anyone has 6B laying around. Whatever this phony foundation is setup by SJ will finance the takeover with debt regardless if it's damn near 0 interest.Yeah I know but very different to owing an external party. 1946. This thread has now reached the 'post-war period' but there are still a few snipers lurking about ready to take a pot shot. Mind how you go.
They'd just owe themselves
Yeah I think many on here just think debt = bad regardless of where it is from or what it is attached to.I don't disagree. I'm just pushing back on the notion that anyone has 6B laying around. Love a pun me.The Nuremberg Trials are in full swing though (no pun intended).
I'm not sure about this to be honest - City's owners are supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine, can't do much worse to get sanctioned. They would but that in itself also carries risks which again, we have all seen happen recently. It may be highly unlikely but it's still something to consider.
A change in geo politics could result in individuals, companies or entire States being sanctioned for example. Qatar is in a very volatile place, placed directly in the path for several of the world's most vital commodities. What appear to be amicable, even friendly relations now may not be tomorrow.
I will stress I think this is highly unlikely before someone tries to claim otherwise. But after the Chelsea debacle it's something I have thought puts certain clubs at risk more than others.
Personally I would still be against the bid yes. The club needs to move on and start a new era, a clean slate. I struggle to see a situation where a bidder who could afford to do the above would need to keep the glazers on but if we are playing hypotheticals then no I wouldn’t want them. potential owner knows how much they are hated. The only scenario would be if that was the only bid though and the alternative was the Glazers staying in full control but we aren’t there. That's a vague sentence, and if it's what I'm assuming it means, I don't buy it. If Qatar offered to wipe the debt and invest billions in infrastructure and transfers but said the Glazers would retain a small, non-voting, minority stake would you be against the bid? No need to wriggle around to answer than one.

On a positive note, we are now into the era of British culinary exceptionalism.

Something like Saudi and Qatar going to war would probably be the level needed. Unlikely but not impossible. Especially as both seem to have the thinnest of skin according to some posters.
And I'm just wishful thinking in my Dad's eyesPatience. Israel is yet to be born and the British are still in India. Mountbatten awaits the call to greatness...
The Falklands War always gets overlooked.
Rights to sheep grazing are important too.
That would add some spice to United v Newcastle games.
Wouldn't envy the stewards in that one tbh.
True, it's why a lot of Leeds fans go there for their holidaysThe Falklands War always gets overlooked.

Jim lost my support after all his praise of the Glazers.
If you are on the board, you are a part of the decision making. If the Glazers are completely out of the loop I'll gladly support our new owner, whoever it is. But I will never trust an owner that keeps the people who brought us ruin on the board.
Why is he using debt if he’s that rich? Why is he not buying th glazers out but offering them a way to stay on?
That was filed under 'troubles'Aden, Suez, Northern Ireland, Cyprus., and Malaya. Still lots of blood to be spilled.

Of course the delay could just be that Qatar doesn't even exist yet and that's what they are waiting for.
Got it in oneSex tourism for Leeds fans.
Got it in one
Don't suggest it, the Government will send refugee's instead, anything to offset the cost of the RAF flights out thereI was being serious. Might be a nice little earner.
