I look forward to this level of voracity when the World Cup moves to North America and children are still getting blown to bits on their way to their English lessons and black men getting shot by trigger happy cops.

Killing kids and black guys isnt official government policy. Please know the difference before talking whataboutism shit in future.

The problem United has is that the amount of money it will take to buy us means we are pretty much ruling out any decent human from ever buying us. Even the Glazers hands weren’t clean before they bought us.

So the question becomes to what degree of dirty money is too dirty to the point of not wanting to even support the club again?

I don’t support a takeover from a state in a sportswashing project but they will just be one in a long list of dirty money buyers for this club and the sooner people realise we are about to be owned by these kind of people the better

No glorious saint will be our owners in a few months time. There’s really no point in arguing about it

My policy: Worry only what you have control over.

Pointless debating the morality of the potential new owners unless you have £6billion in your pocket. You then have only two choices. Stick or leave. No point virtue signaling at this stage. And the chances are you will be back anyway.

All owners are known or been labelled to be cnuts in the past including ours from the Edwards (but he did bring Fergie to United) onwards. Its rare to get any benevolent owners so I don't expect any especially at that price range.

I'm just excited to see what they do with OT. Thinking they will rip it down and make it state of the art like Spurs did.

Ah, I see the thread has taken off again as if the club has been sold.

Nothing has happened. Relax. All this over a picture, which might not even be current. And he could have been there for any number of reasons. Any potential sale is months away, and there haven't been any reports at all to suggest anything.

The guy who posted pic also added his Twitter handle into it to make sure people who saw it as it got shared, would know who to follow

Due diligence will likely take a month or two so if the club is to be sold at Q1 then we are in deep negotiations with the new owners right now

It's as good as policy with the use of guns and politicians getting in bed with the NRA etc. It's not whataboutism, it's a massive problem in the US and unique to the US and just shows how hypocritical and selective your little morality speech was, which was actually quite nauseating.

Is that really who we want to be? The kind of people who turn a blind eye even when it's being thrown in our faces? Or is this just who we actually are? feck everyone else, as long as Im alright, Jack? Well, maybe it is. But it's not me.
These are your words but obviously you choose to turn a blind eye to all the gun deaths in America that could so easily be prevented. But no matter, you'll be following another club if we get bought by the Qataris so no big deal.

The Raine Group are said to be aiming to sell the club Q1, but there are no guarantees. That will entirely depend on the parties involved. The media were in the loop for most of Chelsea's sale. They knew when the bidding process started, they knew who was shortlisted and who was dropped once that concluded, they knew who the preferred candidate was two weeks before it was made official. And we have heard absolutely nothing about any of that. Fabrizio Romano said there are conversations, but nothing about an official bidding process. Right now, we don't even know if a sale is a certainty. This leads me to believe our sale is not at all as advanced as many people here think. Just preliminary discussions. Someone somewhere would leak something, and there aren't even rumours going around. It's why I say people should calm down until we get a little more tangible information.

Why would Raine say Q1 and brief the media if it weren't a reasonable target?

The rank hypocrisy of humans knows no bounds, hilarious at times.

Bring on Filthy rich owners who won't bleed us dry.

To put pressure on buyers? To drive up stock price? Just to give an estimate? Who the feck knows? I mean, we know so little people were arguing if it means Q1 calendar or Q1 fiscal. And I'm not saying it's unreasonable, but you never know how a deal like this will go down. And even if it will go through. What if no one is willing to meet the demands of the Glazers? Then nothing will happen.

That would backfire massively if q1 passes and nothing happens

As long as we are on track for top 4, I really doubt it will matter that much. Club is on record that it’s for sale and everyone knows a big investment like this can take time…

Yes, it’s a huge deal and it is not going to be done fast. We should get some news here and there. The elite will probably know more than us about it though.

Well everyone is investing in the squad apart from us and we are not doing so because we are out of juice. If we fail to qualify for the CL then the club's price will plummet

Club will be more than likely sold before then

It's whataboutism, because it's a load of shit used to deflect from another issue. Like a person can only care about one issue at a time. Gun issues in America are an issue, but like I said, NO ONE is saying it's ok to kill kids or black guys. Where as in Qatar, it's the government who has the death penalty on the books for being gay and happy to engage in modern day slavery. Once again, learn the difference between the two issues before you start talking out your chocolate starfish.

Backfire how exactly?

In terms of assets or ROI the club isn't worth 6b. Whoever buying us is buying the prestige of owning United. Its like buying a villa in a very prime location. Now united's infrastructure is crumbling, sponsorships are leaving and the owners can't afford us. Add the hit in prestige in not making it to the CL and these people are in trouble. I bought a property in such circumstances and I was able to cut 200k of the price because of similar circumstances

Yes. What is your point? That because we haven't had a leak yet, its not advanced?

My point is that there's not much of a difference between January and March. So whatever apply now will probably apply in 2 months time

I am not versed in business but here is my 2c

A- football journalism is the Luke Chadwick of journalism. I mean one of the most respected football jounralists is a 28 year old lad from Italy. These people can't investigate the real stuff and usually rely on leaks by agents etc. This is a different ball game for them. We are talking about billionaires most of whom aren't even located in Europe being involved in the acquisition of a 6b investment. There are NDAs and laws (inside trading) in place

B- most discussions are probably made in the US. The country is well equipped to handle huge acquisition and its not a big 'soccer' fan. Thus for them this is a run of the mill deal.

C- united's 6b acquisition is small fry for the business journalists as compared to the acquisition of let's say blizzard or twitter. It's the equivalent of us buying Amad Diallo for them. Thus it generate little interest from those with the actual means/ experience to find the truth

There is a monumental difference between January and March.

You're fooling nobody with these 'absolute' arguments. I'd feel somewhere in-between where I would if they owned 0% and if they owned 100%.

Which they do to enable them to do terrible things without repercussions. It buys influence and power, which is protection.

Owning football clubs is a way of achieving soft power, it's why they own PSG and it's why they hosted the World Cup. They collect soft power because it allows them to operate on the global stage with less resistance. It's an abomination.
I don’t think there’s any resistance to them now. They seem to do whatever they want, regardless.
It’s only Man Utd, they run most of the worlds oil supply and have leading nations sucking them off to get a piece of those billions / trillions. I dont think beating Brighton in round 4 of the FA cup will see them hatch any evil plans on the international community!

2 months are peanuts in such acquisitions
Not quite. You're also assuming a stage of the negotiations currently to be early. For all you know they could be advanced with potential buyer(s) today, and at a briefing stage by March.

The post in question tackled leaks (or lack of leaks). I pushed him on acquisition timelines and you told me that the club would be in advanced negotiations in late March. I insisted that 2 months are peanuts in such complex negotiations and that Raine's forecasts of a sellout in Q1 should be taken seriously

I also gave an explanation why I think that there are no leaks. Its on a separate post

Agreed. I'd argue that purchasing Manchester United puts you in the public eye even more, and your every move will be scrutinised even more on a global scale.
