Thats ok, you dont have to believe in it. It's a thing. People like sports, and most will abandon their principles if push comes to shove. Thats why so many were able to make jokes about NFL players wives being more prone to concussions than their husbands. Anywhere else, domestic abuse would be enough to get you cancelled. In the NFL it barely registered as an issue. The City group has been sports washing all over the world, and its worked a treat. Just look at the press, all they ever talk about is how amazing city are. Giving constant praise to the club and its owners. How many glory hunters the world over have City picked up over the recent years? Quite a few million would be my guess. With United it would be worse. We already have that built in audience, and with the club under their control they could do whatever they want. And if they want to get past any credible accusations all they have to do is pull the "islamaphobia" card and shut down any conversations. Kinda exactly like what happened with the World Cup.
Some say that football won in the end, but what really happened is that workers in Qatar lost. Human rights lost. And self respect was lost. Because at the end of the day, a game of football was more important to millions of people than the treatment of human beings. Corruption was ignored. Slavery was ignored. And LGBT abuses were ignored. Is that really who we want to be? The kind of people who turn a blind eye even when it's being thrown in our faces? Or is this just who we actually are? feck everyone else, as long as Im alright, Jack? Well, maybe it is. But it's not me. At least, Im trying not to let it be me. I might not fight every fight, but I will fight this one as futile as it will probably be. If we get bought up by Qatar, Im out. I hope Im not the only one, but if I am, so be it. Id rather waste away in the relegation zone than be bought up by these cnuts just so we can beat City or Newcastle or whatever state owned sports washing club is in front of us.
I have found the hill Im going to die on, and it's good enough for me.
