The fact people keep bringing up Brexit as a stick to beat Jim with shows just how out of their depth they are with this debate.

Qatari policy in their own country makes Brexit seem like Disneyland. You'd know this if you actually bothered to read about it.

I can understand wanting the debt gone and the Glazers totally gone. That's all perfectly sensible. However these BS arguement about Brexit and other such things are such a front and BS excuses. You just want that Qatari oil / gas money. That's all it's about so don't pretend it's anything else.

I have more respect for the pro Qatar lot on here who are just honest about their intentions and don't hide behind this nonsense.

Exactly. They just want to pimp the club out so they can brag to their mates about the players we sign for ridiculous prices. That's the top and bottom of it. It must say a lot about their lives if bragging about the signing of players means so much to them.

That’s true. I was just trying to think why showing proof of funds would be an issue because they’d have already have had to prove they’ve got the money to get this far into the process in the first place.

Yeah if that was the case then this would have been picked up early on in due diligence

The thought of that is frightening. Tough enough to compete with just one oil club right now but then eventually 3 oil clubs when Newcastle start to become more established is going to be even harder.

Yeah truly horrifying prospect indeed

How many titles did PSG have pre takeover, remind us?
Couldn’t care less. The only thing here in terms of league titles which is important to me is how many with the same running of the club, mentality, squads and performances they would have won in the PL since their takeover. And I would say zero.

I would hope most fans over the age of 15 have grown out of bragging to friends about signing players for ridiculous prices. Around the same time they stopped buying football stickers and wearing kits. It’s about being successful and knocking City and to a lesser extent liverpool off of their perch and dominating again. It’s our escape watching football and we are sick of being miserable about it. I’m glad your life is amazing and you see it differently, well done you. For some of us thought we aren’t in it for politics or morality. We aren’t bothered. It’s really that simple.

If ineos win will the qataris head up the road and buy Liverpool? I bet nobody on here would like that
Fingers crossed.
If they were clever they would already be buying Liverpool instead of United. Hopefully Mr PSG tells them to do that and walk away from United. Liverpool are almost as big as United, would be cheaper, have a good squad, a proven and world class manager, only two league titles missing to be England‘s sole record league champions (what a huge moment this would be for Jassim’s dad and Qatar), only 1 CL missing to be the 2nd most successful European club. If Jassim knew anything about the PL he would just buy them.

Do adult folk really brag to their mates about whoever it is United sign?

Tbf in this thread alone I have read some of the most ridiculous comments in favour of a Qatari take over, some people are so insecure, comments such as „yes I will tell my kids/grandkids that United won something decades ago while City are winning multiple trophies“
Hence I am not sure that all are adults on the Caf.

That last bit I’d agree with - silly comments all over the Caf tbf

But yeah, both sides of this argument needs to calm down and let things be. A healthy debate is fine but things have been going around in circles, with the same points rehashed - and gosh, don’t even start with the name calling etc.

Have you ever thought it might be the other way around? Maybe your life is miserable because you don't care about morality?

Ya because Glazer gives a feck where the money comes from

They don't care where the money comes from but hat's not the point of that tweet? Once a good enough bid comes in, Glazers will want to go through with it as fast as possible. They don't want to wait up to a year until FA/PL go through and process everything like they did with the Newcastle takeover and if for some reason FA/PL decide not permit the takeover, the Glazers will have to start the process from zero again.

Come on, stop with bs guilt tripping. Do you carry your morals that harshly in all of your life? No phones, laptops, sports clothes etc? Or just when it's a convenient argument for you? Or relevant for this thread - actively oppose both bids?

Are you joking? Have you not seen the transfer forum during the summer? I've spoke to other United supporters that talk about signing the likes of Mbappe is Qatar buy us, it was even mentioned on here when Qatar's interest was reported. These people would be perfectly happy with us buying our easy to success in what would normally be an unsustainable manner. They might dress their intentions up differently but it's the only reason they'd be so against SJR and make up lies to discredit him.

My life isn’t miserable. Where did I say that? Also I said morality in sports. That’s doesn’t mean I have no morality in other areas of life. Sport and football is an escape from every day life for the working class and always has been.

That's the problem ain't it, I don't think Jassim particularly is that clever.

So they can go for Liverpool all they want, so they end up protesting against a guy nobody's sure even exists

Actually, I just want the Glazers out, as soon as possible.

It’s not some complex debate…

The suggestion Ratcliffe doesn't see this as an investment needs scrutiny. You don't pile on billions of pounds of debt buying a business you're going to run for a laugh. Or even a 'legacy project'. That might be what the spin to get fans onside wants everyone to believe but Ratcliffe wouldn't be in this unless he believed in the long term there was profit to be made from us.

Of course Ratcliffe sees it as an investment. Think it's only a few pro-Qatari people who think otherwise. You know, the lot who thinks he'll just invest billions for a bunch of class A shares that would leave Glazers with class B shares and all the power.

Why do you think people are so desperate to ignore all the issues with Qatar and want that state backed money? The exact thing we've criticised for decades? £££$$$$

I don't think everyone has criticized anything for decades, in fact less than a decade ago most Football fans could barely differentiate emirates one from the other and had no clue about much. I also think that many people have never cared about things that are outside a Football pitch.

Same people will have had to delete a lot of posts about City's owners already.

Funny how quick people change when their club may benefit.

It's so so transparent.

Legitimately - it could be to clear the debt, upgrade our infrastructure (stadium & facilities) - maybe even spend money within the community but more to the point, just leave the club and let it survive off its own money earned and not leverage it further (& any uncertainty such a transaction might bring)? I’d guess there are probably a few who want it only for shiny toys (Mbappe!), but I’d guess they’re in the minority.

I’m not too fussed with who our owners are, and having been born/raised moslem (albeit I won’t claim to be too religious/staunch these days), I probably have less of an issue with Qatar ownership then some on here. But yeah, not too vested in this saga - I just want it concluded so we can move on and focus on the football side of things.

We all want that though.

Some people just don't like us being a marketing tool for a country that doesn't treat women, gay people and migrants as equal human beings because of some BS in a made up book.

If this stuff was happening closer to home it would be causing more of a storm too. Ultimately people just don't care because these people are thousands of miles away and out of sight.

The funny part is I would wager some of these people crying about Brexit would have voted for Brexit in the first place.

Perhaps not but if they ask and it's refused, easy grounds to deny Qatar the take over. Just have to say it cannot be established that the two clubs would be operated by separate entities.
They can’t ask, they have no legal grounds to do so and it’s not in their remit anyway. It’s not against the rules to own more than one club.
Did you know Tony Bloom bought a Belgian club a few years ago?

Puts any questions of Jassim not being state backed to bed so.

So we are moving from attacking parties wanting to buy a football club into denouncing islam, quite a step for Saturday morning.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi has made some comments this morning about his involvement (or lack of).
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65865428

Paris St-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi says he has had nothing to do with the takeover of Manchester United.

"Paris St-Germain is my club, in my heart, and I have nothing to do with Manchester United," he said.

"It makes me laugh. I am Qatari, right? If people ask me my opinion, I will answer them for sure - and that's what they do.

"I am talking about anyone, not just Manchester United. I will give them the experience that I have. That's it."

Al-Khelaifi demonstrated he is willing to give advice by revealing last month he spoke to a wealthy group who wanted advice around potential investment in two English clubs.

"I'm not going to mention them but one was small, the other big," he said. "I don't know who the guy was. But I told him my opinion."

Al-Khelaifi, who denies he met the Raine Group who are handling the United sales process, says he welcomes new investment into the game, from Qatar and elsewhere.

"I want the best for European competitions," he said.

"If it's within the regulation, why not? Not only Qatari, everyone."

I dont think they will sell, generate interest price goes up they pull out, do it again in 2-3 yrs, in 10 yrs club is worth 10 billion. HOPE im so wrong but Utd has only ever been a cash cow to the gnomes and they will sit on Utd rob it for another 10 yrs then cash in.

Exactly and N Al khelaifi will distance himself as the takeover rolls on, he will show they are fully engaged in the PSG project, there’s nothing wrong with him giving advice and explaining to SJ that $8bn is probably too much but at the same time $6bn is too low, to me it seems like he’s acting as a middle man to prevent the current impasse.

Now does that mean that should United be bought by SJ, The Qatar state will want an umbrella of football clubs all around the World like City and call it the United Group of football teams, that’s quite possible; Malaga, Santos, Braga, PSG, Man United, Australian, African, Asian teams. I really don’t see if all clubs have separate board of directors what anyone can do about this in a court of law.

Hypothetically SJ is announced as preferred bidder, buyer, it will still take 2 months to ratify with EPL and UEFA, Now Will PL clubs complain yes, they will want proof of payment etc, however the same pressure the Government put on EPL over Saudi buying Newcastle will be used again for Qatar buying United, it will get done but it might take a year.

It’s important to realise as soon as there is a little window of acceptance, then Qatar will use every legal avenue available to force the issue. The real question right now is what is the actual 5/6th bid of SJ and has it actually been accepted ?

Whatever about the club not needing this dirty money , we will get it and the club will benefit from it. “Sure the UK is allowing them to buy up harrods and property” etc is just a false equivalency argument.

This seems to be at the heart of the topic “I can’t control anything, it’s not my fault who owns the club, sure there’s loads of corruption everywhere, and the club can run on its own , so what does it matter ?”.

Some people want greenwood gone for the alleged crimes he did. I get that and would agree with this stance. I would wonder if there are people who strongly feel greenwood should be sold and on the flipside are relatively indifferent or supportive with the quataris.

That would be a very interesting conversation on how they’d mental gymnastics their way around it (and I have no doubt some people have a story they tell themselves that separates the topics). The allure of success, whether owner or player can have us all selectively choosing which things tingle our moral compass.

But that’s what we do when it suits, it’s only when its others are getting the benefit of something that’s sh*tty that it’s outrageous. It’s easy to take a moral stance when it doesn’t cost you much so I don’t find my discomfort with this easy to resolve.

I read what alot of people say as just an effort on their part to just make the whole thing more palatable. I think it’s ultimately what all fans who want to remain supporting the club will have to do on some level.

I’ve thought about “well what if we end up with Sir Jim and Liverpool get the dirty money….” Is supporting a team playing with moral authority that wins less or nothing better than supporting a team that competes at the top? I think it is but I don’t know what I will or can do if the Arabs buy the club.

If we, as United fans, are going to enjoy the success their dirty may bring, then we at least have the decency to own the deal done with the devil to get that success. No bullsh*t excuses or minimising what this really means, but by owning the corrupted , disgusting , sh*t ownership and how it infects the club in a manner that taints any future success. It’s disgusting, let’s not pretend otherwise.

I don't denounce Islam. I denounce all religion. All as equally stupid and made up as the rest.

There have been roughly 6,000 gods that have been worshiped across the globe at one time or another. Most people that are religious believe in just the one god so that's 5999 we all agree on straight away.

If they treat buyers like that, nobody will want to do business with them.

I don’t think that judging other people’s beliefs is helpful in this thread, or any thread for that matter.

Mate, let’s try and stay on track rather than turning this thread into a religious hate one.

What other people believe in or choose to believe in has got nothing to do with you or anyone else.

This is a football forum not here to listen to this nonsense. I certainly am not here to stuff my personal opinions on this subject to anyone other than this isn't the place.

Take it to one of the threads in the CE
