Kaka is demanding a 20 percent increase on his staggering $730,000 weekly salary offer to join Abu Dhabi-owned Manchester City - as compensation for him not playing in the Champions League.

Sources close to the club owners on Friday told Arabian Business that the $150 million deal to bring Kaka to Eastlands from Italian giants AC Milan was now "likely" and the owners are hoping to parade their new signing on Sunday.

The source said: "There has been a lot of ups and downs and the sticking point has not been the transfer fee but Kaka's wages. His people have seen the offer made to him as being on the low side and they are looking to raise it by 20 percent given the fact that Kaka will not be playing Champions League football for now at least."

However, the source added, Kaka's people have now indicated that their man is now inclined to accept the offer.

On Thursday, sources close to the club suggested that the club owners had withdrawn their offer for the former world player of the year. However it now appears that both Kaka and AC Milan have been pushing for the transfer to go through.

The source added: "The big advantage right now is that there is a global credit crisis and there are not many clubs in the world as financially secure as Man City. This is a very big attraction for Kaka."

Arabic newspapers and TV channels were also reporting on Friday that Kaka could be unveiled by Man City as early as Sunday.

What a circus. But all joking aside, if that bid was really on the table I reckon Milan should take it. They can buy a ready made replacement in Diego, or bring back Gourcouff, buy two quality centerbacks and still have a wad left over.

Bremen will demand £90 million for Diego, knowing Milan are minted and claiming Kaka isnt like £30 million better than him or something.

If you cant replace a player theres no point selling him.

Maybe to play alongside Kaka. He has been their best player all season.

Ireland left, one of Kaka and Robinho on the right wing and the other one playing off a striker. Most likely Santa Cruz, who'd do a decent job...

Kaka and Robinho dont defend though and Ireland doesnt do much of it either so City would need a central midfielder who can help Kompany defend. Seems a bit silly City havent competed with Spurs for Palacios. He'd be perfect.

FFS this does not even concern Manchester United and look how many people are going to commit suicide here!

The pressure that will be on Kaka if he moves will be unreal. He'll be a bigger failure than Shevchenko.*

*Probably not

Find this funny as f*ck :D Imagine that, Kaka, maybe the best player in the world playing for Manchester CITY. And there's no way in hell he can hide away from the fact that the only reason he joined them, if that is what he end up doing, is for all the money they're willing to give him. It'll be at least a little bit better for players joining them later, but for Kaka... He's been one of the most respected players in the game up till this point, now most of that'll be out the window. Poor fecker

I'm starting to think this might just happen...
I want it to happen. The premiership needs more players like him. I could care less if his coming here means City are trying to buy success. There's nothing wrong with that in my book. If you've got cash flaunt it. Ther'e no rule that say clubs like City shouldn't spend crazy money on big players to get ahead. It's not like they have structures in place to do it the hard way.

Im sure with the ammount of money he will get it will recompensate his loss of image! Get a life mate would you turn it down if someone came to your work and offered you money that was beyond comprehension? I for one won't lose respect for him for the fact he went for money, plus its pretty obvious to me more top class players will follow and shitty will soon be challenging on all fronts!

I kind of agree with this to an extent chief and you're right Kaka seems perfect for the premier league and it'll be a privilege to watch him play in the prem and help to establish once and for all that its the best league in the world. I just want to see the aftermath of city's crazy spending.

what it does mean, Ronaldo is less likely to move outside the prem and hence away from united, if all the best players are in this league.

he's always been a grounded individual from what i read. this move is for nothing but money, nobody can deny.
Even grounded individuals need money. Football is job. Besides money will buy City success. After Kaka many other big players will want to join their ranks. & so far they seem to be buying wisely.

i dont think hell ever be world player of year again.
That is a terrible assumption.

Yes because if one of our players, say Giggs, went to some other club simply because they offered him more money, your respect for him would be the same. Get a life mate..

The after math will be city challenging for honors. I expect men like Villa to follow Kaka here if he comes.

Fans stage Kaka protest.

Hundreds of furious supporters have gathered outside Milan’s headquarters to protest against a potential Kaka sale to Manchester City.

The club has allowed Kaka to talk with the Premier League side amid reports of an increased £107m bid.

The fans are not taking it well and are laying siege to the Rossoneri headquarters in Via Turati this evening.

They are chanting “Kaka cannot be sold” and displaying banners, including one that reads: “Kaka is untouchable. He has been declared a national treasure.”

The tension is palpable and some fans even threw a homemade firework on to the ramp of the garage just before general manager Adriano Galliani drove away.

For a little while earlier today, Arabian Business website claimed that “Sheikh Mansour, owner of Manchester City, has told friends that Kaka has signed.”

The item disappeared relatively quickly and Milan have confirmed Kaka is in the squad for tomorrow night’s Serie A game with Fiorentina.

You make it sound like he's struggling to pay his bills. He's not even in the position where he cant already buy anything he desires for himself or his family. This is just a silly amount but a sad reflection on society.

maybe, but then again it would have been silly to assume Ballack would be half the player he once was or that shevchenko would fail to score double figures in a season at a team challenging for the league.

Just heard on talkSPORT that Kaka is expected to turn out for Milan when they play Fiorentina tomorrow.

The Milanese sticking up two fingers or one last goodbye?

Real Madrid aren't exactly the keepers of football morality but better Kaka goes there than City. Well, unless he goes to the latter and they get relegated.lol

Madrid or any other club cannot compete with the fee; to be fair on Milan i doubt any club would turn down that amount of money but the player himself might.

Anyway I don't know what the whole fuss is about here. This is simply the footballing food chain at work here.

In the same way the likes of Spurs and Leeds will act as feeder clubs to United, the likes of Real Madrid and AC Milan will be feeder clubs for City.

'Cos City are a massive club.

I`ve always thought of Kaka as the sort guy who wouldn`t let the cash decide.

That said though, I think it would be interesting to see a player of that calibre in England, even if it is for City. They are so far from being a challenger anyway, so Kaka alone won`t do it for them. It will obviously be a signal to other players though.

I'm not so bothered about the possible success Citeh could achieve, although it would be awful...the main thing that bothers me is that football will officially have lost the fecking plot. Man City. 15th. Kaka.

feck off... it's just plain ridiculous.

If Kaka signs for City

Milan would continue in the UEFA CUP for few more seasons.

Kaka can never dream of playing in the CL again.

I cannot see that happenning unless he converts himself to Muslim.

But he's a true Christian mind.

What a bizarre post, if Milan sell him they will be in the CL at the end of 2010 at the latest, and may well get in this year. City will get in the CL at Arsenal's expense sooner or later if they throw that kind of cash around. And what in flying feck does religion have to do with it?

You dunno the meaning of pisstake...do you?

As for Milan even with Kaka they look patchy should do worse without him. Kaka's own form has been inconsistent in the last year and half or so, he has always been their big match player.

Kaka can very well forget playing in the CL if he joins City. Even if Abu Dhabi splashes his currency around it would take two or three seasons for them to be in a breathing distance to catch the top four teams.
