City and Financial Doping | Charged by PL with numerous FFP breaches | Hearing begins 16th September 2024

I can't help feeling that all of this will come to nothing. After the last UEFA hearing got diverted to CAS and overturned, it doesn't feel like anything will stick to Man City.

If it's a slap on the wrist and a minimal points deduction in a season where City already look unlikely to win the league, that isn't much of a deterrent at all and hardly worth pursuing. The UEFA one might've at least affected City's participation in the Champions League if it came to fruition. Unless it's a severe punishment, FFP will continue to be treated as the joke it is and Chelsea are already flagrantly taking the piss out of it.
Agreed, the right brown envelope will find its way to the right pocket

Sad part about it is they’ve cheated genuine professionals out of titles they should have won fairly and they’ll never get that moment to celebrate

Finally a benefit to Brexit, we can do what we like to City and Europe can't bail them out.

All the following compensation claims and requests were postponed one by one by courts until being declared inadmissible in October 2022. Sporting justice, on the other hand, started retaliating with any sort of accusation every six months (starting from Conte’s betting scandal in 2011) until they struck gold two weeks ago, actually opening a Calciopoli II war.

So they are just out to get Juve. One of the biggest and most successful clubs in Italy and they just want to tear them down every chance they get.

Or maybe Juve could stop doing dodgy stuff in the background.

More like 15 point and £100m fine, Uefa fined them £49m for much less.
Juventus have a bigger investigation in progress. Those 15 points are just for something they found while investigations larger fraud.
Every chance they get relegated as well

Just as well as they are a state powered organisation then really isn't it!

100 rule breaks, about 12 will stick, and they'll either get a 1 point deduction that changes nothing, or more likely a fine, that is appealed and let off.

The football authorities have let this slide for almost 15 years. The government and MCC are happy for City’s owners to plough money into the local area. The media have given them a free pass all this time. Micah Richards has been employed as a pundit.

The whole thing is completely corrupt.

There is less than 1% chance of City being meaningfully sanctioned for this.

It has been allowed to happen all this time-why would things suddenly change?

You choose the second from wherever you are, I know my chickens from the inside and choose the first.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but would this mean Slippy G won a title? Not sure this is worth it … would trade the 3 stolen from us.

If it did, it'd be the most meaningless way possible.

The VAR Champions, City won last season by one point thanks to outrageous VAR penalty decisions against Wolves and Everton, deserve all they get. City will, of course, throw money at it. We do know who this ‘Independent’ body will be that will look at it, but let’s hope it’s not got at. CAS watered down City’s punishment strangel. Not saying they were got at, just saying. Guardiola‘s strange comments last week about ‘clubs writing to the PL to get rid of us’ make sense now . He must have known this was coming. If he had an ounce of pride, he should resign when it’s all over and reaches the true conclusion. Of course, City fans moaning about the rules and United’s debt as they always do to divert attention.

Be interesting to see if Pep Elliot Ness Guardiola will keep his word and walk if the Berties are found guilty.

The Premier League only cares about its brand so they won't do anything that harms City as they need strong teams in the league to attract viewers
Too bad no one is thinking that letting cheats do whatever they want can hurt the brand.

To be honest, I think that a league without City will be more interesting as they are ahead of everyone in terms of cheating.

As I said earlier on, I hope if we are found guilty we are punished a way that fits the crime, be it severe or not so severe. But I just want to point out that the reaction to this shows how pointless discussing it is. People want stripping off titles or a point deduction that is not pre-determined by the severity of the breaches in that period, but determined by where it would take us in the table, based on not even knowing what the breaches actually are for. That is completely normal fan behaviour, but it just shows that when the case gets to court, the only acceptable outcome for people would be if the club gets punished on the sporting side of it, and prefferably that other teams get an advantage because of it. But none of us are in a position to know whether anything other than a hefty fine is reasonable.

We may well be crooked to the ears, there is usually no smoke without fire, but I'm not even going to try and pretend that I understand the reach of the situations. The breaches are out there, information on how they are breached is incomplete and at this moment has to be considered vague. I want us to be fully exonorated, not on technicalities but because the club I support actually is guilty. If (and this is still a big if at the moment, despite peoples conviction that we must have cheated in some way) we are systematic cheaters we definitely need to get the book thrown at us, and I hope all the anger from me and my fellow fans gets directed at the people responsible for putting our club in the mud. There is nothing else that can be said at this point.

But I will point out that I believe allthough the amount of breaches seems massive, I'd wager quite a lot of Premier League teams would have gathered up a massive amount of breaches themselves IF subject to a 4-year extensive search going back in time. Doesn't mean we don't deserve what is coming, but since we are playing the guessing game anyway

A pretty reasonable response. I have pointed out to people that nowhere mentions stripping of titles. That I believe is a pipe dream. Otherwise the media would be all over it whipping the Dippers up, in particular, into a frenzy.

For me, I expect a fine a a point deduction. How big the point deduction will be, will come out in the wash.

Everyone with common sense know that they were cooking books.
No way you get Silva or Aquero in city without some shady dealing. Half of EUROPE were after them and they choose city. I hope they go down, but nothing will happen.
Money talks.

Luckily they have state-level defence.

Cheats. I said it the day they won that first title. Still say it. Newcastle too, now. Nation state does not = football club. United steer clear, the American creeps are dire, but even they are better than corrupt regimes. Pep has no shame. Strip them of the titles they never won. Look at Rangers how they were treated. League 2, only allowed with new owners/management structure after 2 years. Requires full disclosure.

 Yes???

You lost me at “more blatant cheating”. It’s either blatant cheating or it isn’t. There aren’t levels to what’s “more blatant” as blatant is already the qualifier.
How do you mean I've lost you? You literally said in the post I replied to; "It doesn't get more "blatant cheating" than this" which would imply that there are 'levels' as you put it, to blatant cheating, and you think this ranks as high as can be.. That's completely fair enough of course, I can see your point but I just don't agree. Not sure why you're trying to achieve with the whole "you've lost me" spiel.

Anyway, I don't want this to dissolve into some grammar war. Yes, I think match fixing is blatant cheating, no I don't think what City are charged with here qualifies as severe as that, and hence why I believe it's highly unlikely that they'll be stripped of honours and that points deductions and/or fines are the most likely outcome.

Could be wrong, hope I am.

What have Newcastle done so far to be corrupt? If anything this will make sure they don't think about it in the future.

The key thing though is that regardless of how big the fine and deduction is, they are going to have to clean up their act and that breaks their current business model.

They won’t be able to afford to sustain their current investment levels without secret payments and dodgy sponsors. Everything they do is going to be under the microscope.

One of the things that comes out of this should be a yearly audit of their accounts by an independent body.

The last point in the screenshot going around about possible punishment literally says they can make any other punishment that they see fit.

I expand on it in this thread, but the overall impression of the allegations are that they are substantial and seem to be substantiated (largely by the Football Leak emails).

Even If many of the accusations are tossed, if City are found guilty of them, it shows a clear pattern of systematic cheating and intention to cover it up. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are demoted to be honest, and I do expect significant pts deduction at the least.

But with that said, a decision must be at least 6 months away, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s up to 18 months away.

All or Nothing: Manchester City.
Season 2 coming up in 2023!

Turn of phrase. Again, blatant is the qualifier you used. “You’ve lost me” is not “spiel” - it’s me saying I don’t agree with you, and that’s where our points of view diverge. Are you OK?

I don’t expect them to be stripped of titles - I simply asked you if you don’t class this as blatant cheating and you said you didn’t class it as bad as bribery etc - which you reserve the to do, but didn’t necessarily answer my question. Subsequent reply was not even quoting you - but addressing someone else that said it would be hard to prove on an individual basis.

You don’t have to prove it on an individual basis. They spent money that they shouldn’t - against the rules - in seasons that they won titles for. They then cooked up books, made up sponsors etc to cover it up. They won said titles by cheating. I’m not saying they will be stripped of the titles, but it doesn’t get more “blatant cheating” than this - which is the point I was addressing in that reply.
Oh don't get me wrong - they're corrupt and feck and a bunch of cheating cnuts. I've just resigned myself to them already getting away with it, and whatever punishment they do get being something that doesn't come close to fitting their crimes.
It won't be this season, this will drag on for years I suspect

Without a doubt.

Even when they are found not guilty, public opinion of them will also be a cheating small time club.
