City and Financial Doping | Charged by PL with 130 FFP breaches | Hearing begins 16th Sep 2024 | Concluded 9th Dec 2024 - Awaiting outcome

If found guilty the only acceptable punishment is expulsion from the EPL with re-entry only available with new owners with no contact with the old owners.

The it’s up to the football league to decide if they would also allow cheats into their system, but they should really do the same as the EPL.

City would then have to start in non league but can only advance if there’s new owners in place

Lots of people in the City system should be facing jail time because it pretty much comes down to major financial fraud. The players, staff and agents who took dodgy deals over the years should also be banned for some time.

Point deduction over 5 seasons - say 50 points pr season - no possibility to play in Europe for 5 seasons and banned from transfers for the first 2 years. That would be a suitable punishment imo.

Make it 100 points and you have a deal

No it's not for systematically frauding the system for years, doing all they can from stopping this going anywhere and stopping handing over documents that they need to hand over. They should get expelled with no way of returning for 10 years, other teams will then get a chance of getting their money owed by City's fraudulent behaviour.

You do wonder if those inside the club know they're going to be relegated and it's affecting them on the pitch.

A points deduction for this season or the next is meaningless, they have to be stripped of their titles.

This is wisdom dispensed at a leisurely pace, makes my post count look profligate by comparison.

I bow to thee, Gizzyspop, Rankin General of the Taciturn Army.

...and I agree with your sentiment, too.

they’re building a watertight case. “how can we be cheating? look how shit we are?” genius.

More of this, please!

City is throwing games on purpose in hope that people would focus on this bad form instead of their cheating acts. They can't fool us.

I’m happy to see them losing, as much as I hate Liverpool, I hope their dominance is coming to an end for the foreseeable future, the league would be much better off with genuine competition from multiple teams, not just one that chested their way to the top.

I don’t think Pep would have signed the new contract unless he was certain they’d be staying up

That will never happen and you know it

It did occur to me (very elegantly put by @littlepeasoup who said City dirty themselves up in prison to avoid attention). But if they are, they are brilliant at it. Nah. More so I think Pep just lost his fire. That’s a kind of rot in a dressing room. Happened with Klopp.

I wonder are are the prem shocked that an Authoritian state that is used to getting its own way and create it's own rules are not taking their punishment laying down? .. yeah totally great idea to let them buy an English football team :+1:

I might be called paranoid here but Premier Leagues willingness to accept state owned football clubs probably born out of hatred of Manchester United.

You might be called paranoid indeed. Maybe some other words too.

No resolution until the end of next season would certainly explain Pep staying on!
