Christiano Ronaldo - NO current rumors

But I find only normal that he pushes for it when he has the traction, he signed the last one in an awful moment, his value right now (even at a decline) would be higher than his current wages.

I defend Messi when he skins us for a new contract as I think for what he offers to us and how we use him it's only logical, so I think the same way about Ronaldo, and if they don't reach an understanding I would understand him leaving, but no team seems able to satisfy both his contractual and competitive needs at the moment, so it makes even more sense for him to push his status as a Real Madrid legend in what could be his last top $ contract.

His contract runs out in 2021, when he will be already 36. If he wants more money, alongside even longer duration (how long for god's sake, 2022, or even 2023?), Real Madrid would have to be out of their minds to even entertain it, and that even without taking into account his current form.

Madrid is gonna ditch him hard when he no longer performs...

Feel bad for him. Don't know if he'll get the proper send off from madrid or wasted in the rubbish bin like casilas

There is a solution for that, be realistic about your own performances and once you feel they're not up to par amicably part ways. Realism doesn't seem to be one of Ronaldo's strong points though, so i feel you're quite right regards the turn events are about to take.

Who would want him back though? He spent the prime years of his career at Madrid and we have no need for him now.

That blistering pace that terrorized the defenders is long gone so nope can feck off to Qatar for alll i care.

It's easy for us to say that, it probably isn't for him.

He's ambitious and his drive/determination has taken him far beyond his talent, a man like that won't have the mentality we all have sadly.

I was joking with a friend about how long it would take for Ronaldo rumours to start again after Messi signed his new contract for 1m a week in wages. No thanks Ronnie you gave the best years to Madrid.

How do you know he has traction. The fact the he found traction last time does not mean he will find it now. Again your are talking like things happen in a space-time vacuum. Last time he was 30, now he’s 33 and his current performances show that he might well be entering the phase of inevitable decline.

He might feel he can push his luck and it’s up to him to do however he pleases. But players and management can have a very different perception of the situation. I sincerely doubt he’ll find another club willing to pay him Messi wages as well as offer R.Madrid considerable compensation.

How many times he wants a new contract? 2 times per year? If i am perez i would kick him out from the club .
And no, i don't want him even for free

He found traction in 2012 and 13(he asked for a new contract in '12 and we gave it to him in '13) because of course, and again in 2016 because of course again. He kind of tried this last summer, and this is the continuation of that

Important thing to note is that both times he got a deserved pay-rise, but in both cases it was nothing like doubling his already massive wages. I think he deserves a pay rise for this season, but not over the rest of the years of his contract(yet), and certainly nothing like Messi's, which is just insane. We could fit say, Kane, Dybala and Hazard with that money, and even Messi isn't worth those 3 combined imho.

...though we want neymar and neymar is already on close to that at PSG, and i'd love it if we signed Neymar...logic and emotion don't go hand in hand

PS if Cris was 29(and as good as he was in 2013) i'd be totally on board with giving him Messi wages though  i'd be pissed at Flo for dithering in fact :D

I mean he has to leave at some point doesn't he?

Probably to retirement though.

I'd have him back for cheap, but I don't think he'd be cheap. Highly likely bullshit anyway of course.

I think it's kind of pathetic, he is clearly using his former club as leverage to get a new contract. When things go well, he says he wants to finish his career at Madrid, but now Messi is making 100M/season, so now he's going to use his former club again because his ego can't handle not being on the same level as Messi contractually and Real Madrid are not budging. If I was Mourinho or the club, I'd make it official the club is not interested in him and take that leverage away from him. It's insulting to always be used for that rumor so Madrid will pay him more.

Might not be at his best this year but no-one at Madrid is.

People may question what impact he'd have - Zlatan came in at 35 and was our best player till he got injured. Ronaldo is better than Zlatan.

Won't happen but he would win us the league through his sheer goalscoring. Zlatan, RVP all had great impacts when they came in their mid 30s. Ronaldo is obviously way better than both.

7 pages already? Why again? Feck off Ronnie seriously now. Using Utd ever since he left.

After you cry wolf so many times the villages stopped caring...is how the stories goes right.

Nothing against Ronnie but this story has zero affect on me...no interest what so ever!

Moving On.

It's not so obvious this season, he's scoring on less than 5% of his shots. Sometimes, you fall off the cliff very quickly. He could pull off another second-half of the season like he did last year, but there's a bigger chance he won't.

Maybe we do not want to help Perez and do not need CR7? So let Cristiano try to milk out as much as he can from Real, while we are just watching all this comedy from a bit further away.

I just wouldn't want to have my club's name constantly being used for someone's personal gain. I would take that away from him and let him deal with it. Perez is going to have a headache regardless because CR7 is 'sad' right now.

If he wants to come back, we would be crazy not to take him.

We took Ibra and Schweinsteiger on massive wages so Ronaldo would easily be worth the money. Give him the armband and play him as a number 9.

Having said that, it sounds like bullshit. And a part of me would be sour that he gave his best years to Madrid only to come back here when he’s finishing up. But like I said, he would probably get 25+ goals easily in the Prem.

i dont see how Madrid can justify asking for a big fee. no one will take that contract on when there's concerns he's declined dramatically, plus a big fee.

a small fee and maybe you take a punt on him rediscovering some form in a new environment.

Come on no, we take Sanchez and Ozil and go for the title from there. Ronaldo cannot come back, he should stay at Real Madrid and figure it out with them... if he was coming back, it should have been done 4 years ago.

Smacks of Ramos using United for leverage to get more money at Real.

No thanks, we aren't a club where you can come to after having a unsuccessful period at a club you constantly chose over us (this is assuming this is genuinely what hes thinking, though I highly doubt it, he probably intends to stay). We would honestly limit ourselves for another 2-3 years if we signed him on his insane wages.

What's this unfounded outrage? Did he actually say that he wants to go back to United? or just the press BS as usual, and some just lap it up like a bone thrown to the dogs?.

Be hilarious if it turned out he had been trying to come back to us pretty much every window for the last 3 seasons and we were just constantly turning him down.

If this was reported by The S*n would it get it's own thread and 7 pages of posts? How often have we had bullshit stories from AS?

I refuse to entertain this ridiculous story again, it's been done too many times. Boring.
It's because his heart is already at United.

On a serious note, Ronaldo is a legend, a phenomenal player. But this ship has sale a long time a go.

I refuse to have my heart hurt again.

There should be a "2018 edition" mark added to the title. Then we can bin it together win the "Ronaldo's coming home" 2012, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 editions.

I know it’s just a plea for more money so it’s never gonna happen but I would take him on a free

Perfect replacement for Zlatan as the experienced one
Knows Jose
Knows Manchester United
Would be a great role model for the young players showing the level of dedication to training that’s required to reach the top

I’d rather he didn’t return and we only have the memories of the phenomenal player that grew under Fergie rather than a player passed it looking like a shadow of his former self.

Sick and tired of getting linked to him everytime he wants something from Madrid. Have some respect and stop using United in your games with your club, Ron.

Would be a mistake. Go to LA. I'm sure he would love all the attention and the fans would love him too.

First time since it left that I don't actually think he would offer us much more than we currently have. I would rather see Martial or Rashford develop further than lose one early due to Ronnie wanting to start every game.

Woah, can't believe Ronaldo is actually leaving Madrid!

No thanks. It's like fancying a girl for years and, despite your best efforts, being turned down numerous times whilst she ends up marrying the dickhead rebel bad-boy type.

Fast forward a few years, you're fairly happy and doing relatively well in life, she's had a couple of kids and she suddenly starts showing an interest in you after finally realising she got married to a douchebag knobhead who treats her like shit.

He's welcome to stay and end his career at Madrid.
