Christian Eriksen

If anything he's rejected a move to Leverkusen FOR a move to Liverpool. But his coach has said not to move to Liverpool.

"If they play as they do now, I would not go," he told Algemeen Dagblad.
"The playing style would not suit his own but, ultimately, it is for Chris himself to decide."

He'd not suit us right now if we intended to play him in central midfield, if we let Rooney he could take his place in 4231 swapping positions with Kagawa and a winger.

"There are Russian clubs that have called and made bids for me. I did not take much time to refuse.
"I would like to join one of the five major leagues. I have the view that I do not want to go to Russia at my age. I do not look at the money."

This guy is a breath of fresh air in the footballing world at the moment. I'd love for us to sign him.

Must admit I though someone would have signed him by now.

It's weird. He seemed destined for Dortmund when you were looking likely to land Mhiktaryan, but now Dortmund don't want him anymore I'm surprised you haven't gone for him.

So am I. Initially thought he would be a great back up to the lad who went to Dortmund, who was our top target it seems, but we haven't been linked with any midfielders since.

He's too good for Ajax now but it seems like he's weighing up his options, he appears to be a smart type so any decision he makes will be based on the amount of playing time he's going to get and possible development. I hope he doesn't go to Liverpool, I really wouldn't like them to line up with Coutinho and Eriksen behind a forward.

If he was that smart he probably would not have ruled out Leverkusen that fast. They have a very good chance of qualifying for CL each year, they have a young manager, they have a good track record when it comes to developing youngsters and they are very reasonable when it comes to selling their players or giving them release clauses.

I was obsessed with him when I was in the newbs. Always said how down to earth he was - and that was 2 or so years ago (I think).

Whoever signs him up, will have a very grounded and talented player on their hands. If we didn't sign Kagawa, I'd be all over him. Too bad he doesn't player a tad deeper.

True, it was odd, how fast he declined their offer. Given the amount of time he was linked to them and the statements he gave over the time, I honestly think that he hoped to land a deal at Dortmund. Unfortunately for him, the officials of Dortmund chose the more expensive and undoubtly superior option Henrikh Mkhitaryan over him in the end.

I personally think, that another year at Ajax can be good for him, because he is still pretty inconsistent. I don´t doubt his attitude, but I don´t see how much he could offer United to be honest. For a CM role he is not stable enough in the defense and as AM Rooney and Kagawa are way better options than him. The only scenario I could see would be Rooney leaving in this summer and Eriksen being build up as Kagawa´s back up. And if that position would be that favourable for a young talent, who needs game time more than anything, is really not certain.

So, he is getting quite good at these free kick. Today against Poland he scored this, the third since the 5th of June (If he hasn't scored from a free kick in Ajax' friendlies that is).

EDIT: The Danish commentator just said he's scored six goals from free kicks in ~2½ months.

His agent has said that Eriksen won't join a club which isn't in the group stage of the Champions League or posing a title challenge domestically. And he's not opposed to signing a new contract if nothing shows up.

Reading the Spurs forum and there's rumours in Holland that Spurs have bid 10m for him. A bit puzzled why they're going for Eriksen with Siggy and Holtby in their squad. They surely need a winger/cf instead?

Spur are snapping everyone up, must be a great feeling if you are a Spurs fan. Amazing one Bale fee can buy you a few quite quality players

He's called Erik Lamela and they've confirmed the transfer today.

Lamela plays on the right. They need a quality winger on the left or a cf imo. Defoe can't really be trusted to push Tottenham into the Top 4 so they're relying on Soldado not being injured (hence the need for a CF). Left wing they have Siggy and Chadli and Siggy isn't even a winger. Hence why they were going for Willian and Lamela.

Eriksen is different class to those two, especially Siggy, who should have stayed at Swansea. I would not be happy if Spurs got him.

He's not exactly a LW though. He's an AM so he'll be competing alongside Holtby/Siggy/Dembele for the AM position. Unless AVB puts him on the left like we did with Kawaga last season. That may work.

They do have Andros Townsend as well. Between him Chadli Lennon and Lamela I think their wings look ok, if a little bit overly right sided. Soldado, Adebayor and Defoe isn't a bad set of strikers, though that's certainly an area they can improve.

It would make more sense to buy Viktor Fischer if they're looking for a left winger.

If we sign Eriksen, we'll likely be moving Sigurdsson on.

Not sure if we're sticking with 4-2-3-1 or moving to 4-3-3 this season anyway, so we'll have to see if he does sign where he fits in.

Chaldi looks really good for them on the left though. I don't see why they need another left sided player. He might not have been expensive or a big name, but he looks a real steal to my eyes. People are raving about Paulinho and Capoue, and whilst I agree they look very impressive, Chadli is the one who has looked the best to me. I think as he hasn't gone on weaving runs etc, that he hasn't caught the eye out wide, but his passing and movement has been top notch. I read that he's made the most chances per game so far in the league.

If they sign Eriksen their squad will be crazy strong. They've basically done what the likes of Cheslea, City, Monaco and PSG have done, but with money they've earned themselves via the sale of Bale and the new TV deal. Other than when billionaire owners take over, I've never known a club bring in so much quality in one window.

I think it's only the uncertainty of how these players will adapt to the Prem that is stopping people talk of Spurs as title contenders, as opposed to top 4 contenders. Talent wise, their squad is as good as anyones'.

Interesting, I've not been impressed by Chadli, but it's early days. I agree though, they've got some really good players. Still need a CF though for me. But they've closed the gap on the Top 4 and to think when Bale is sold, they'll probably break even. Good stuff you have to say.

What about the year we signed Tevez Nani Haegreaves and Anderson?

Still not quite the same scale. If the Eriksen deal is completed that will be their 6th major signing and I very much doubt they'd have finished there. They will have to bring in another striker for Adebayor and will probably buy another LB. Outside of sugar daddy money, I've never known a club have such a big over haul, bringing in so much quality.

Sky saying permission granted to speak to him. I don't think he'll go there. Already expressed his desire to play for a CL club.

They don't need another quality center forward, unless they plan on switching formations. The way they play they use 1 striker, so Soldado is the one quality forward they need. Adebayor and Defoe are decent enough squad options, considering Soldado hasn't really been an injury prone player in his career. The team they have right now is more then good enough for top 4. Overall it's much stronger and more complete then Arsenal's current team, or Liverpool's, especially if they get Eriksen. All they need is time to bed in together.
Soldado
Chadli Eriksen Lamela
Paulinho Dembele/Sandro
That front 6, once they adjust to each other and the premier league, is as good as most teams around IMO (if they all fulfil their potential). You could argue they need another left winger instead of Chadli but he's looked decent. The only position you can say is really weak for them is the fullback positions. Walkers decent but they need a left back.

Is the fee £10m? I'd be very surprised if more teams weren't in for him at that price.

They showed last season that they aren't. Hence why they need a CF to replace Adebayor.

Last season they showed they aren't good enough to start, which they aren't. What quality striker could they hope to get that would be content with being back up to Soldado?

Eriksen looks a tidy player but it's hard to say much more than that. Personally don't think he is worth the hype. Not a signing that's going to scare anyone, but it does provide Spurs with a little more depth. Hard to say he's a definite upgrade on Sigurdsson.

Adebayor is a quality striker who would be more than happy to be back up to Katie Price if he's pocketing £100K+ a week.
