Seems like the best move he could make. Especially if Liverpool were his only other serious option.

Interesting to see if he's little more than average. I'm not convinced about him.

This could turn out to be an amazing bit of business by Dortmund. It's hard to tell how a player will adapt in a better league but, his performances in the Champions League were amazing, and I'm surprised at how underrated he is on the Caf. Hopefully does well if they sign him.

Hope he fecking joins Dortmund as rumored a few weeks ago so I can win that £70. If the lite shit joins Liverpool, I'll be done.

He won't. He was plan B if they failed to sign Mkhitaryan. They aren't interested in him anymore.

Why can't he join us, the little bastard.
We'd have to be interested in him first for him to have the option of joining us. Clearly we aren't interested becasue it's a non decision for a player to choose United over Liverpool unloess they player happens to be a childhood fan, or thinks he won't get enough football with us). In fact, if the likes of Liverpool are front-runners for him them there isn't a lot of 'top' clubs in for him at all. Good player mind, but just not top tier.

Dortmund signed that Armenian lad (ironically ahead of Liverpool) so that closes the door on Eriksen going to Dortmund, and opens it for him to go elsewhere; perhaps Liverpool is the next best available option for him, and more luck to him if he goes there. What is annoying is that things never work out like that for United when we are in for a player. We've lost out on Lucas Moura, Hazard and Thaigo in the past year, due to unlucky circumstances.

No real concrete source that we are even interested in him, lots of rumours, that's all.

I don't see why Liverpool would need him with Coutinho. For me, Coutinho is better than him too, and he is a player I wouldn't have minded us signing. I believe he'll be better than Shinji personally, although he'll likely be gone from Liverpool within two years.

Nah, you're overrating him there. Coutinho is decent for Liverpool but Eriksen is a level better and Kagawa several levels.

Don't think so. Coutinho has the most ability of the lot, and once he settles, will show it more regularly I think. He has already, on his day, torn a couple of teams apart for Liverpool, and I expect these days to become more frequent next season.

We'll see. Kagawa's torn Bayern Munich apart a number of times, and been the key player for a league-winning side, which I think trumps anything on Coutinho's CV.

Quoted because this goes in the posts that make me want to kill myself pile.

Hence the 'I think he will be better than Kagawa'. He hasn't proven it just yet (although I've seen him take the piss at CL level with Inter tbh), but he has more ability for me, in the same way that I think Thiago has more than Cesc, despite the fact that he 'hasn't won the World Cup'.

I don't think Erikson is to the level where he justifies not putting the faith in Adnan instead.

You are massively underrating Eriksen. He played against England and ran the midfield and the was the best player on the pitch, including Wilshere. Would you not sign Wilshere too in that case?

Thankfully that isn't the only game Christian Eriksen (and Jack Wilshere for that matter) has played then, otherwise I imagine I'd be compelled to share your view.

I'm on record: Kagawa is a superior player in every respect to Coutinho. Kagawa is not only currently better but will always be consistently better. Eriksen is also currently better and will most likely be the better player throughout their careers.

That's a sweeping statement if ever I seen one.

Countinho is better than Eriksen and has the potential to become as good as kagawa. I don't see why we should even consider Eriksen

So is this one.

Agreed mate... not to say it's unrealistic but doesn't leave much room for being wrong :)
I mean that in the sense that even if Coutinho was somehow having a superior season, that would be a one off. Not that he will never reach a level of form higher than Kagawa.

I understand, but it's still a sweeping statement... you don't know that Coutinho will become a better player than Kagawa, does it look likely? No, but crazier things happen in football every year mate..

Honestly, who of you actually thought Coutinho was as good as Kagawa before his five minutes of being overrated at Liverpool? My opinion of him hasn't changed but it appears RedCafe's has.

How exactly is it a sweeping statement?

Without being rude, do you understand what is a sweeping statement is? It's very SET in stone in your words, if you said 'For me, currently Coutinho is a better player than Erikson and has the potential IMO to become on par with Kag...', but even then I think you'll find that most disagree, I would place Erikson above Coutinho to date, I can't see how you can argue otherwise when you look at the calibre of the leagues they play in etc

Hardly a sweeping statement. I could say Smalling will be consistently better than Steven Caulker and no one's going to argue. Smalling's a better defender. He has a higher potential. Sure it might not happen they way it looks, but the chances are Smalling will be a better player. I could say Bale will never have as good a season as Ronaldo. It might happen but it's exceedingly unlikely.
