Christian Eriksen

Hats off to AVB for targeting him when others have turned a blind eye. Eriksen is a good player and a bit of steal at £10m

Could we just not sign Daniel fecking Levy and be sorted?? What a man.

bit of a steal is an understatement when you see the prices currently going on in the market.

Boss as Levy is, I wouldn't be at all surprised if most of this spending is due to Baldini's influence.

Is he actually as good as some are saying though? Dortmund passed on him an apparently other clubs have had their doubts about him too. For 10m or whatever if he was that good, surely a lot more clubs would be after him.

They must be laughing their arses off. Selling Bale and getting Soldado, Paulinho, Eriksen and Lamela with the money from it.

I read they've bought a defender called Chiriches too.

He's not at a Gotze or Isco level as was he originally hyped to be but he is very talented.

That would make sense. I remember him being quite disappointing in the Euros, and I haven't watched many of his club games. Either way, he'd be better than Sigurdsson and would add more depth and quality to what they have already.

He hasn't got the flair or skill of those two players, but I think his passing technique and intelligence is as good if not better.

I'd say he's a similar player to Chelsea's Oscar - both are going to be very good.

Why the fecking hell didn't we try for 10 million quid?

This young man has been hyped up for years though with every man and his dog knowing who he is.

I know what you mean, but there are precedents for similar players going much cheaper than they should: Ozil, Kagawa, Sahin and even Coutinho. Player prices are relative and it all depends on the circumstances of the market at the time. He's only got one year left on his contract and most top teams are well stocked in his position or they use a system where they don't need a player like him.

Didn't Liverpool and another club try and sign him earlier this summer? I do agree with what you're saying mind, seems odd that none of the top teams have come in for him at a relatively cheap price.

There have been rumours about him moving to Liverpool, Dortmund, AC Milan and Leverkusen this summer. He seems to be very picky when it comes to which clubs he wants to play for.

Perhaps I'm a footballing philistine, but is this guy that good? When I've seen him he looked like he had a lot of talent but a bit watery. Is he really going to be able to impose himself on the PL?

Depends on the role given to him. He'll provide Spurs with an instant threat at set pieces while providing competition with Holtby for the AM role. I think he'd be a shrewd buy for Spurs. Still doesn't address their LB/LW issue mind.

Lamela does though plus Eriksen can cut in from the left with ease, he's got the pace and dribbling to work from out wide.

Lamelas not played as a LW for some time and his best tally has come from the RW. I'd be really surprised if they shifted him to LW.

Spurs went through the experiment of playing Siggy as a LW last season and it didn't work. I'd be surprised if they wanted to shift Eriksen out on the left as he has zero experience in that position.

Confirmed he's signed. feck me. Spurs not messing about this Summer. Meanwhile...

Pretty much every club knew he was available for around that price - why is he only being acquired now?

I remember Dortmund being heavily linked with him, and I was sure he was bound for there. I can now really see Spurs leapfrogging Arsenal with this squad now.

He was probably holding out for a CL club, but most don't need a player in his preferred position.

Spurs are looking one striker who can hold the ball up short of a very strong and complete squad

Surprised they managed to get him at that price. Thought for sure he would go to a top champions league club and for at least £20 million. Spurs have been amazing in this transfer window.

They're going to be brilliant in football manager as well. Lamela and eriksen as 2 of 3 behind soldado? That's what most people strive to get in football manager where they can go for any youngster around

Top prospect at an unbelievably good price.
And yet they've a better English prospect chomping at the bit in their U21 side... a lad who was great when he played last night, and thanks to the signing of Lamela and Eriksen probably won't get another kick this season. Tom Carroll... hand in a transfer request now. fecking does my head in.

We can tell, this is the second thread you have vented your anger in haha.

Can't wait for the Spurs-Arsenal game on Sunday, it's going t be interesting to see the new look spurs.

I think the likes of lamela or eriksen will be bench at best. Too soon for them to start a game of this magnitude.

Unbelievable signing for spurs. The pressure is well and truly on for AVB to deliver.....

Carroll is only 3 months younger than Eriksen. Yet Eriksen has played 37 times for his country including playing in a WC and Euro Championship. He's also played 30 times in the CL, won 3 Eredivse titles and a YPOTY award. Tom Carroll hasn't even won Tottenhams YPOTY. He struggled on loan at Derby. He played very well last night, but was outshone by Holtby. Holtby is only a year older and was capped by Germany at 19.

It's true our players need to get more opportunities, but don't you think you are getting a little carried away. Carroll is probably seen as about the 5th best English CM of players of a similar age to him. And England are a shit football nation. It seems unlikely that a guy who has only managed 2 U21 caps and never started a Prem game is a better prospect than one of the best young players in the whole continent.
