Christian Eriksen

Eriksen looks a tidy player but it's hard to say much more than that. Personally don't think he is worth the hype. Not a signing that's going to scare anyone, but it does provide Spurs with a little more depth. Hard to say he's a definite upgrade on Sigurdsson.

I think he's a very good player, we've got good options in his position but Spurs don't. Siggy is a mid/lower table player.

 Not worth the hype? Hard to say if he is an upgrade on Sigurdsson? I dont think you have ever watched him play.

If he goes for 10m then I will have serious question marks over his capabilities.

At that price you'd imagine plenty of clubs would be in for him as a low risk transfer. The fact they aren't speak volumes.

I think the issue is that he wants to play for a top club (most of whom have great options at No.10) and he only has a year left on his contract. He'll stay at Ajax this year I reckon.

Will be a good signing for Spurs. I've said all summer that they need a bit more guile in their team - they have loads of brawn in their midfield but since Modric left, they have nobody to knit things together. If they get him, once/if their players gel they could have one of the best teams in the league.

Well Dortmund and Liverpool where in for him if I recall correctly but they both got turned down by the player if the press is right. 10M seems pretty low and I have no clue why Ajax is selling so cheap especially if you consider that he is one of their most important players.

He'd be a tremendously good buy for Spurs, he's miles ahead of Sigurdsson and Holtby and would bring what they desperately need in midfield - creativity. They're probably going to need another wide player though since Willian got away.

Eriksen is still a kid, he's 21.. I think that people underate him because he has been around for so long now and not made a big money move yet, plus he hasn't got the flair that other highly rated youngsters might have.

However, anybody who watched him in Europe for the past few seasons against top teams and for Denmark too knows that he can perform against better players. He was brilliant against City last season..

I wouldn't have a problem with us buying him, he's incredibly versatile and I think he has the intelligence to do well as a central midfielder - although I imagine he will end up as a more advanced midfielder.

I don't think he's turned any of those down. I think he turned down Leverkusen and Dortmund bought Mkhitaryan instead. He wants to play for a Champions League club and I can't see him move to Spurs unless he really believes they'll end in the top four.

If you ask me he's clearly a better player than Sigurdsson and he's 2½ years younger as well.

Hopefully he signs, that way all three of the players previously discussed in this thread (Eriksen, Kagawa and Coutinho) would be in the same league and we would be able to get a better idea of how good they are.

And apparently Spurs are still looking to bring in another couple of players...

They must be laughing their arses off. Selling Bale and getting Soldado, Paulinho, Eriksen and Lamela with the money from it.

It's a great deal and they'll still have money left over.
The wage bill might become a bit of a problem though. Those 4 players surely earn together way more money than Bale did.

From what I've seen of him he looms twice the player sigurdssom is. Looks a very impressive footballer.

Bloody hell. Hats off to spurs. They have been brilliant in the transfer market this summer.

It's a sensible move for him. He'll gathered experience at the top level while getting the playing time he needs/deserves.

They've gotten rid of a few others too I think.
Yes, Parker and Huddlestone off their payroll and I won't be surprised if they offload Adebayor late in the transfer window too.

They are also getting someone who can take over from Bale regarding free kicks.

Well, Frank de Boer has been out to say it's going to be a huge loss and that Eriksen will have success in the Premier League. Done deal.

They are reporting £9m for Eriksen?? That is crazy cheap considering the market albeit he has only a year to run on his contract. It is ultimately Ajax's loss that Eriksen was so concise about the kinds of teams he would want to go to...

Don't quite understand. Isn't this the same fella who has turned down non-Champions League clubs?

If he believes they'll end up in the top four it's only one year without CL football. Furthermore he gets to test himself in a bigger league and he'll probably get a better wage as well. And let's be honest, Tottenham really should end in the top four with the team they've assembled.

It'll be interesting if he comes to the PL to see how he gets on.

Looked good when I saw him for Denmark against England a couple of years ago, but he was rank average in the Under 21 Tournament that followed if I recall. Looks neat and tidy but maybe lacks a bit of pace.

Seems he's had to lower his sights from the likes of Barcelona.

To be fair if Spurs dont finish top 4 this year AVB will be the biggest managerial flop around.

That said I think they will. Arsenal should be afraid.

Well Spurs seem like they are in within a good shout of making Champions League next year and joining them will mean there's less pressure and more playing time as opposed to if he went to the likes of Chelsea. He did say he wants to go to a champions league team but people change their mind.
