Just looked into the ratings for the team this year. Player of the season so far is a tie between Evans and Onana, both at 6.2. Eriksen, Garnacho and Mazraoui are third with 6.0, but the rest of the midfield is way down. Eriksen looked somewhat gassed in the last 20-25 minutes last night, but he plays a part in almost every dangerous situation we make. We can´t constantly play him for 90 minutes every game with midweek games in the pivot else he will be run into the ground within a couple of weeks. We looked much more in control when he was moved further up the pitch after Casemiro came on. Had we played Casemiro-Ugarte-Eriksen with Højlund from the start, we would have bagged the three points yesterday. To put Mazraoui at 10 was one of the strangest thing I´ve have seen all season, and that is saying something. 4 Goals and 3 assists so far is a decent output from a pivot-player.

Eriksen at the press conference today on his future: I have really enjoyed being here and I still do. We will see in the summer. If I get a new offer (from United), I will consider it very seriously.

Sounds as if he wants to stay. He is not someone who enjoys sitting on the bench though, so he will probably only stay, if he thinks he can get into the team.
Extending his contract by 12 months is definitely not the worse thing we could do, he’ll be 33 in Feb 25, extending his contract by 12 months is a smart move.

He was one our best players before Andy Carroll crunched him and now it looks liked he’s recovered he’s back to being one of our best 3 players.

Many fans forget he has 293 PL appearances, 54 Goals and 76 Assists, that’s 130 GI in 293 Games, Perspective that’s 1 goal involvement every 2.25 matches which is better than all our striking options in the EPL apart from Marcus. Only Bruno is better with 97 GI from 167 Appearances however he takes penalties.

Right now, we need Bruno finding form and Ugarte doing Eriksen’s running so we can start to score more goals in the EPL

I don't get it. I think this is the definition of a "scored, so must have played well" situation. I don't see the quality everyone else sees. I don't see him being that player to push us on. It's the McTominay curse. Scores every now and then, we're obliged to keep giving him games and because he's scoring everyone's uncomfortable pointing out what they see.

He's not a bad player, but if he hadn't bagged a couple recently the assessment of his performances would be radically different.

You need glasses mate

Probably United's best signing of the past 3 years, considering he was a free transfer.

Always amazed me how he could look like a stud with Denmark and lifeless with United (up until this season). Glad he’s getting the minutes he deserves

Summerville runs past Eriksen to slide the ball into the net, wonder if Eriksen will be calling out players for not wanting it more today?

He’s a player that was always my dream United signing throughout his Spurs years. Shame we got him a little too late, but today reminds me why I always wanted him.

I wonder if he could become a conductor-like player from the middle of the park for the next three years or so?

600 million spent and the one player who can play a decent pass from midfield is this guy who we got for free
Since ten Hag took over you could say that players we got either for free, for low fee or on loan were better than most of expensive signings. Eriksen, Sabitzer, Evans, Mazraoui, even Amrabat for me.

I enjoy watching him. I hope that under Amorim he will play regulary. Him and Bruno on no10 would be great to watch.

I (respectfully) disagree with this. The cameo we saw from him today should be exactly what he should be doing at that stage of a game. He doesn't have the legs for a full 90 mins in the prem. Would much prefer him coming on for last 20 / 25 mins, steady the ship and use his range of passing from deep to stretch teams.

I think so too, weaker teams and last 20-25 mins is where his experience should be used.

That pass to open out the pitch for the third goal was superb and it's exactly what you want from him in the final period of games like that.

You forgot about Weghorst. What a coup.

In all seriousness, I would rank Sabitzer well below someone like De Ligt. He never impressed me.

He just played 7 or 8 games in a row, mostly 80-90 minutes and has been one of our best players this season. Still we get those "He has only legs for 20-25 minutes" posts, because he was out for two or three games with a minor injury. That is pretty strange.

Apparently once you reach 31-32 your legs no longer function for longer than that

I actually think he can play at a high level for another 2 years or so. His 'legs' were only exposed becoz of ETH's crazy midfield tactics. I would definitely keep him. He is one of the very few (if not the only one) intelligent players in the squad. The pass that took out 4 or 5 Leicester players is so delicious. I can watch it all day.

Last season he often looked gassed after 60 minutes. He somehow looks much fitter now.

He was very gassed after 60 minutes last year due to the way we played. Defense was slower last year (Varane. Harry, Evans for most of the time) and therefore standing very low, leaving acres of space for Casemiro, Mainoo, McT and Eriksen to cover in the pivot. Everybody but Mainoo looked uncomfortable doing that. Eriksen and Casemiro the most. It is no coincidence, that they are both playing much better again with De Light and Martinez behind them. It was a case of playing the players to their weaknesses instead of playing them to their strengths. Now we need to find a new midfield for the 3-4-2-1 of Amorim. To me, it should be Ugarte and Casemiro behind Bruno and Eriksen, but with Mainoo, Mount and potentially also Zirkzee and Amad, there are enough quaified candidates for four spots.

His passing and vision is still good (arguably better than Bruno) but his body is letting him down, and I feel like a bit of a dick for saying the latter part considering he was technically dead for a few minutes and it’s a miracle he’s still playing.

The feck is the point of him? A player who can't run at all is redundant in this league.

You could tell after first ten minutes that him and Casemiro just couldn’t keep up with the pace and spent that first half chasing shadows. You’d hope we don’t have to start either of those two regularly and especially not both many more times.

Please release him in January. Those one or two good passes every two games are not worth it.

He was poor today but so far this season he’s been one of the better players. It doesn’t help when Casemiro is next to him . Need more legs alongside him

This system requires legs from him that he doesn't have.

Guys it's not this system that needs legs. Or "modern" football.

It's all midfield set ups since the dawn of time. Midfielders have to be able to cover the ground. Or at the very least 50% of your midfield needs to.

Not sure I would have had him in my top 20 of most likely starters today. Very surprised Amorim threw him in after little time on the training ground due to international duty. I’m not sure how much he has seen him play in recent years.

Agreed. He’s been one of our better performers this season, but he was very poor today. Every time a player 28+ has a poor game they are finished though. A little over the top that.
