Should replace Bruno up front.

Ugarte and Mainoo/Casemiro behind him.

A class act who comfortably sits in the 'wish we had signed him in his prime' category, alongside the likes of Ibra and Cavani.

Have a great start to the season, good for him.

He played well for us, but we surrounded by dross in the attacking areas. He can keep the ball, but the problem is the general wastefulness of our attackers.

Our smartest midfielder, in terms of composure and decision-making.

I don't warm to him... I watched him in the last minutes and his defensive running is alibi at best, there simply is no intention, at least no conviction, visible in his actions, he is giving his opponents time on the ball while looking busy but achieving nothing. On the ball he is very good and oh boy do we need a reliable passer like him in midfield (well actually in most areas) but seeing him to be so central this season, it seems like such a weird approach to the transfer window and not bringing in somebody with a comparable skillset. Why was he freezed out last year? I thought, adding Ugarte made sense given the the 2-free-8's tactic of last season, but now we changed once again?! Still think, going for Ugarte wasn't a mistake but seeing Eriksen being so important all of a sudden, it is soo odd.

Best midfielder again, but that was easy today. Good distribution and (no pun intended) good pacemaking. Somewhat anonymous though.

Would like to see how many times he's played the full 90. Felt really unusual to see it happen today.

No big surprise but leaving at the end of the season
I think the media twists this a bit. As far as I can read he just says that he’s not talking with the club about a new contract atm. Of course it’s still most likely but not confirmed, I believe

He was told he could leave last summer if he found a club, he'll be 33 in February, I can't see a new contract being offered unless it's worth a fraction of what he currenty gets and would likely be unacceptable to him, in a less intense league like the PL he'd still be an attractive proposition for a lot of clubs

Yes, I was responding to the other post which I presume referred to a “news” story about him definitely leaving.

Brilliant performance against Switzerland yesterday. Really clever assist for Isaksens goal and cool executed for his own. Played deeper like in Manchester due to injuries but with Højbjerg doing exactly what Eriksen needs to be effective in the pivot. Played at 10 in the second half.

Strange take. They are simply playing him to his strengths and surprise! That works. Its that simple. Why don´t we do the same?

Denmark has a manager that plays a system where he can excel. We have a manager who plays a system that hampers all the players.
Sorry handsome men, it was just a reference to his "Twente wanted it more" comments

Man Utd 2:1 Brentford New
Player of the season for me so far.

He is looking like his first season at Utd version this season & Without his creativity from deep we kind of seem like we would lack creativity enough to get our forwards involved.

I don’t wanna jinx him, but he’s the only one of our current players I see becoming a decent manager in the future. So much game intelligence and decent engine too considering what he’s been through.

Has done very well, again highlights the difference between having him in the midfield and then having Kobbie in midfield. Eriksen knows how to find space and get on the ball, he can also progress play with his passing. We tend to lose that ability when Kobbie plays there (exchanging that for Kobbies ability to progress via dribbling). It is an area that Kobbie either needs to improve on or eventually just be moved further up the pitch into a 10 position. The same issue I see with him currently in the united midfield is the same as I see in the England midfield where Gomes just seems to be more natural at finding spaces and progressing play with passes.

95% passquote, 4 chances created, 3 interceptions, 2 tackles. Pre-assist for the Rasmus goal. Convincing.

We've always played our best football with Eriksen on the pitch since he joined us.

My concern is, and I'm not an EtH basher, is why we don't ever seem to be linked with midfielders with his skillset. Do management not see how we play better with Eriksen?

There have been the rumours that EtH didn't want Ugarte, wanted more of a creative midfielder and his constant pursuit of de Jong was an indication of that. The Mount signing was puzzling though. Guess the real problem is that we should have had a complete midfield shake up years ago, because we've needed a young defensive midfielder but we also need a creative one.

I'm glad Eriksen is playing well. I honestly thought he was finished last season, especially in that Crystal Palace game.

I see De Jong and Mainoo as similar in profile, and we can see Mainoo doesn't do what Eriksen can. We need an Eriksen with legs. Easier said than done.

But I'm happy to enjoy him while he's here. Love that type of midfielder.

I think he was hoping to turn Mount into that "Eriksen with legs"
