Himself Bruno and Onana really cost us. Fine margins but each where at fault for a Bayern goal.

Need to try get Mainoo and Amrabat into the team to see if they can improve us.

Should not be starting, but we have 3 midfielders injured. He consistently does little to nothing defensively. It's frustrating, but the only other option is McTominay.

The only thing good about the deal with it being free. Otherwise United would have been better off thinking about long term than signing both Eriksen and Casemiro last season. Remember that we suck at getting rid of players when they become past it or duds, so the last thing United need is short term players we will struggle to move on.
Is he on that much money though or a super long deal? Sometimes it’s worth moaning about things but moaning about a free transfer who was our 2nd most creative player last season (even with missing loads of games) seems like time could be spent better elsewhere.

We are a team at rebuild. The least we need is wasting time on short term business as stop gaps that won't lead us anywhere.

Being good for one season before turning to a deadwood that needs replacement is just a waste of time. The target isn't last season. The target is building a team capable of challenging in the near future. Your business should be based on that, and not just for one good season. These stop gaps are better signed when you have a winning team with one or two defects that you need to quickly plug to keep winning titles , not a team full of holes who isn't going to win anything withing the next one or two years.

Last season the aim was CL qualification. We did that with the bonus of a cup and losing the other domestic cup in the final. Eriksen was a starter until his injury and came back into the team after. For a free signing - and you avoided my question - who is not on a massive salary he was an excellent signing.

We signed a new player to start over him (Mount whatever you think of that idea) and a new player to cover the other position he can play. The planning is there, we simply don’t know how it will work but he’s now basically a solid (and inexpensive) squad player who you’d assume will leave end of this season as game time diminishes.

Moan about things that are worth moaning about.

I don't remember complaining about his salary. I said the only good thing about this transfer was it being free.

This is a pretty poor planing. United would have been better spending money on a long term midfielder last season instead of both Casemiro and Eriksen. We would have still finished top 4 anyway and would have saved money to buy better players in othe positions next season than replacing the players you brought one season ago. Instead we have two deadwoods we would want to sell next summer.

United should look at the future and not just the next season.

Finally I will moan about whatever I think worthy of moaning. Nothing in the club at the moment can be considered good or ideal.

Bolded will need some explanation.

He’s a 20/30 minute towards the end of a game kinda player.

Or in behind the physicality of Rasmus, with pace either side of him. It’s not his fault the manager keeps playing him in a role that’s he’s completely unsuited to.

I think him and Casemiro should be out of the club next season. Both liabilities at times physically.

It's a massive testament to his mental strength that he's still a footballer at a high level considering what he went through.

But this isn't a charity. We can't give out favors to players who aren't good enough anymore.

I love Eriksen, but his performance last night was indeed painful to watch.
I hope, going forward, with his minutes better managed, we can still benefit from his football intelligence.

He’s also slow and weak in the tackle but he’s still a genuine footballer. Something a lot of our current side aren’t.

He needs replacing but as a free transfer, he is the least of our regrets.
The problem for me is that, as a team, we've been terrible under pressure for as long as I can remember now and us still not addressing that will always be the main problem. It doesn't matter if a player is free or not (I assume his wages are relatively high). Any player we sign - especially in midfield and attack - that doesn't address this flaw of ours is a wasted transfer.

I'm someone who, even in his prime for Spurs, didn't rate because he was never good under pressure, so, when I saw us sign him way past his prime as a short term fix instead of actually addressing our problem, well, I wasn't a fan.

Maybe we couldn't have afforded to fix that issue after spending over £100m on Antony and Casemiro (two signings I also criticised at the time) but that's the thing. Our first priority should have been players of this ilk instead of scraping the barrel for a free transfer after going for them two. Two players who also weren't addressing that issue because neither of them were/are strong under pressure either.

It’s damn unlucky but also bad recruitment planning that both him and Casemiro have “gone” in the summer and need to be put out to pasture.

Man Utd 2:3 Galatasaray
Changed the game for a while when he came on. Good cameo, much improved decision making on our attacking players + Bruno. Failed to keep it up nearer the end

He seemed to have a point to prove after being dropped. Was key to us raising the tempo at the start of the second half. Pinged some pinpoint passes that could've helped us take a stronger lead on a different day.

Absolute class for about 25 minutes. Totally changed the game and should have had an assist.

Gave the ball away cheaply so many times. No idea why that gets overlooked because he played one brilliant pass.

Yep there was a 20 second period near the end of the game where he just launched the ball up into the air twice to no one. "Have it"

Confidence through the team looks shot.

Yea agreed, seemed to fade after that though, probably not helped by us being down to 10 men. Before they looked class though.

Very good on the ball, atrocious at offering cover. The usual theme really.

That cameo has convinced me it's a tactic to go long.

No way Eriksen wants every other pass to be 40 yards. Even if he made a decent job of it.

This so much this, he simply gets to much hate, he has always been able to run a full match, he also had to do important defensive elements in late game, which he did.. he is not defensive, he is on Bruno´s spot, if you want him to work you need to place him there, and he will divide the ball around for 90 minutes without issues.

the chances he gets there is like 10-20 minutes, or yes a few starts, with a team around him, that is not used to him, he is nearly never passed in position.. he created more goal chances in the 20 minutes than the whole team did in the match... so he will be this fringe player, as long as ETH wants to play him along side ETH, the same has happened on the Danish National Team, our old coach played with building up the team around Eriksen, 18 goals i think in 19 matches, and so many assists.. the bullshit coach we have today, again focuses on other things, and he becomes this "key player" in buildup, but not the value he can create..

i think that he is also faulted for his resting face a lot, i runs constantly but people make him out as tired. he is not.

I think he is wasted... also he is a Free kick specialists, and a Bruno that has not hit ANYTHING still keeps taking them. WHY??? the guy has not been near a goal

It is the same with Højlund, he has value when you play him in the "startup" Man Utd tends to just look for Rashford, and yes it worked yesterday in one instance..... because he found Rasmus, but if you have a strong center forward, throw it up on him, and get it OUT to rashford from that station.

I think Christian´s biggest issue, which also Conte actually tried to push him on, is his lack of EGO, you see Rashford and Fernandes just going for it, right now it just looks like a waste, but they do get a goal from time to time, Christian tends to "do his job" which also means when Casemiro, or McT or whoever goes a bit to far up, he goes down.. i miss the old Christian from the early Tottenham days or ESPECIALLY Ajax, where he was less of a team player (still a big one) but went for it. i have not seen many balls hit him in the field, without him converting it.

Great game from Eriksen. He took control from the second he came on and until Onana and Casemiro began their own personal Laurel and Hardy Show. Afterwards the game changed, leaving him to do defensive work instead of spreading brilliant passes around the pitch. This was Eriksen in creator modus, and he was everything that Bruno was'nt. I agree with DanishPastry that he should take charge and send off Bruno for the free kicks. Amrabat-Casemiro at the pivot and Eriksen to replace Bruno at 10. Mount and Rashford on the wings and The Rasmonster up front. Thats the way to go in the next weeks. Eriksen can do 8, but at heart he is still a 10.

Our best technical midfielder by a mile.
No one is close to him and its so noticeable how he has the ability to control the game when he plays. We really do miss that without him because we have spare parts but not the engine, we have a DM, we have a guy to play the final pass in Bruno but nothing inbetween.
Unfortunately going for Mount was a mistake unless you plan to replace Bruno with him.

Anyway you wanna know how teams like Brighton are good?
By having many players that can play the pass as fast as Erikson and thus control the game. Simple yet no so simple.
I watched Real Sociedad last night and their players were comfortable playing one touch passes easily.
Its something that can be found with right scouting etc, its not necessarily expensive, we just have nothing like it except for Erikson. We have luxury players.

Has his good moments on the ball going forward, but never smells danger and doesn't have the pace/stamina to get back and help out before its too late.

Controlled the game with his 67% pass completion and 17 possession losses. Come on. He had a good 10 minutes and that's it.

Yep, he had a good start but once the pressure increased, he folded like the rest.

I miss Fred in games like this.

He should have stayed at Brentford who were using him correctly and played a role befitting of his talent, rather than playing out of position to accommodate a stat-padding shambles in Bruno. If Ten Hag had a backbone he’d bench Bruno and Casemiro until they can go and mercenary in Saudi in January, and play Amrabat and Mount deep behind CE in the #10.

Man Utd 2:1 Brentford
I don't think his impact was as strong as it was mid week, but once again I felt like we played better football with him on the pitch.

First time I've seen mercenary being used as a verb before and that's not even the dumbest part of this post.

Eriksen with a ridicolously good pass to assist Skov for Denmarks 3-0 against Kazakhstan yesterday. The pre-assists for the other two goals were nice as well. Eriksen was extremely bad in the first 30 minutes and bordering on his absolute top level at times afterwards. He is so much better, when he can concentrate on creating further up the pitch....

Heavily involved in all three Denmark goals. Denmark plays well when Eriksen plays well. End of.

It was kind of a messy game, partly due to the wind I think, but in the end Eriksen played well indeed. Doesn’t score much for the national team anymore, but still decisive.

And playing on an awful pitch. No idea why DBU don't move the matches to Brøndby Stadion or somewhere else when the pitch in Parken isn't up to scratch.
That said, the team in general just don't play with any real urgency most of the time.

Sheffield Utd 1:2 Man Utd
He is our best midfielder and he must start every game. Our only central midfielder who can create and set tempo. Others are clueless with the ball

The difference when he came on was drastic. Actually wants to be on the ball than some other hyped up midfielders
