Chicharito Loan Watch | Real Madrid

I'll never forget the way he stepped up to the plate in 2010/11. People will forget how much of a mess it all felt like after Rooney came out saying he wanted to leave. There was SO much tension before that game at Stoke where Hernandez scored the back header and poached the winner. He restored the faith that year, there was always a sense if we could get him the ball in the box we had a chance. 36 seconds against Chelsea...

If he's off I wish him all the best. His confidence clearly took some real blows last year and I'd love to see him scoring goals and smiling again.

It was such an amazing signing. Signing the likes of Di Maria is an awesome feeling, but it doesn't beat signing an absolute stranger  Watching him in the World Cup was so exciting. Scoring against France I believe and Argentina

An amazing first goal against Chelsea when it bounced off his foot onto his head

He's been nothing short of being the ultimate professional while he's been here. It was clear what his role was - an action sub - but not once did he complain, rather so he simply said that he would improve to try and break into it. I have nothing but respect for the guy, and it will be unfortunate to see him go.

With all that being said, he isn't United quality on the whole. His instinct is and timing his run is - but everything else just isn't good enough for us. A few have mentioned that he's probably suffered the most when our play stagnated with loss of pace. Still, we need players who can adapt to the bad times and it doesn't look as if he's good enough to do that.

I wish him all the best if he does indeed leave this window. I have no doubt he'll be a fantastic goal-scorer for a team.

Valencia would be a better move imo.

He wouldn't get in the Juve team, unless he wants to sit on the bench.

I hope it's a permanent move for him, wherever he goes. If he goes to Juve on loan and ends up sitting on the bench, nobody will want him a year later. He's come up with some memorable goals for us but overall he just isn't good enough.

He had the highest goals per minutes played ratio of anyone in the league up until last season. He's been out of form for a while but if he gets settled and happy again he's a top class goal poacher. Fans have such short memories.

Please don't sell him, if we sell him avid welbeck we are Leaving us with 2 forwards one gets injured and we are fecked

RvP, Rooney & Wilson are fine options when one of Januzaj or even Di Maria could be pushed up top in the same way Robben was at the WC. Still don't want Welbeck gone though mind, but I think he will be.

I think LvG might be rather willing to play Mata as striker/2nd striker over both Welbeck and Chicharito if RvP/Rooney get injured. And there's also Wilson.

Anyway, thanks to Chicharito for everything he has done for us, especially helping us win the league in 2010/11 and 2012/13 and THAT 1st minute goal against sideshow Bob and Chelsea in the title-defining game in 2011! Priceless!

Also had a good attitude, loves United and always says great things about us! No hard feelings at all, fee/wages all more than paid off/justified, there are much worse and more expensive players than him currently at the club.

Having said all this, he hasn't impressed now for more than a year and if he isn't playing as a striker, then he really is useless. You can't play him anywhere else. And he is also half the player as a striker when he starts games. And even his finishing has been bad for a while but that's probably because of the shiteness-no-confidence-virus currently infecting the club. Time to leave for him.

Best of luck to him! :(:)

Agreed. He wouldn't get in front of Tevez, and with Llorente and £17m new signing Morata, I see him in the same situation he is in now.

Wilson is the future, Chicha needs to make space. I'd rather keep Welbz, because I still think his pace and work rate is useful for us. And he's manchester born...

Would be a shame to see him go, but it is probably the right move. He has struggled a bit for a while now, and clearly isn't able to settle into a grove because of being in and out of the team. He also probably doesn't suit our current team either, as he really needs to be in a team that maintains possession, and cater for his lack of build up play. Put him in a team that can handle him being played purely as a poacher week in weak out and he will get them plenty of goals

He's been a very good signing and delivered some great moments, and I'll always like him for scoring against Chelsea every single time he seemed to play against them, but it's the right time for him to go. The last year his career has stagnated and his finishing has actually regressed I think and if he's not scoring he offers you very little else.

He's even lost his place in the starting line up for Mexico so I think it's best all round if he's off.

Both clubs have submitted bids in the region of £12m to £15m for Hernández.

Not bad from the Guardian article if accurate.

Juventus can offer us Vidal or we tell them to feck off and offload him to Valencia instead.

Considering how much Shane Long went for, I wouldn't accept anything less than £15m

Shane Long didn't leave for a different league so he was always gonna cost more, wouldn't have cost Juve £12m if they wanted him. Hernandez is on more than double the wages Long is too.

Sad news but another player who hasn't shown any improvement in years. A good sign the club are being ruthless with selling players now. A kick up the arse for others to perform.
Fellaini must be laughing that he's injured during the window!

one of my favourite united players but clearly he's needed a new opportunity for at least a year now. hopefully he finds his prowess again wherever he goes. impossible not to like this guy.

i mean his nickname was little pea FFS. how can anyone not like someone with a nickname like that?

when i find myself in times of trouble... little pea, little pea...

Same. Love him to bits but sadly it's his time to go now.

Also Juve can feck off, sell him to Valencia.

Will be gone before the window closes. We should get £12 million for him.

I remember he scored his first CL goal away against Valencia.. And Kiko set him up.
Would be a nice club for him.

He isn't getting games here. Last season also meant he wasnt a starter for Mexico in the WC. He deserves better.

Lovely guy. Scored some very important goals.. and some memorable ones. Hope he gets his move and does well.

Excellent striker (key word, striker, one who scores goals).

It's idiotic how nowadays strikers are castigated for only scoring goals. The horror. It's one of the reasons why Welbeck (a good player in his own right) is given such a pass on here at times.

And at his best, Hernandez was more than a poacher. He racked up a decent amount of assists, dragged defenders across, linked up well with Valencia and Rooney, and was impossible to deal with. The loss of form has blinded many.

Put him in a team with an above average midfield, feed him, and he will find the back of the net more often than not. Asking him to do extra is a fool's errand, and the logical thing to do would be improve distribution to him (and our other attackers). But that makes too much sense.

I've no doubts that he, Kagawa, Nani et al will do well at their respective future clubs.

Why don't Arsenal put in a bid? Start Hernandez every game and he'll get you 20+ goals a season.

If they offer £5m-£10m more than any other club, you take the money.

If we weren't going to be fighting it out with them for the last CL spot I would agree but giving them Hernandez could easily cost us European football next year. Not worth the risk.

A poacher and one of the best there is at the moment, but with tactics changing and formations he'd never be played as the sole striker ahead of Rooney/RVP. Pity as I like Hernandez and feel that there are more deserving players needing to go ahead of him.

Good lad, but he isn't United quality.

Sad to see him leave. If it wasn't for Moyes I highly doubt he would be so off his form for so long. A change is something he needs and to be honest he will thrive in whichever club he leaves to

Yeah, let's just blame Moyes.

Poor excuse.

If he is so good why has no team shown much interest in him? Atletico went for the better allrounder (but no world beater) Mandzukic, Dortmund didn't show interest but bought other strikers, Bayern bought Lewa, Juventus and Valencia are only now showing interest. Even Chelsea when they bid for Rooney could have tried to get him instead, but didn't. He has been on our bench for ages, while a lot of great to good strikers have moved for far more money all across Europe. Why didn't they all line up for him? He isn't a bad player, but nowhere as useful as you make him out, especially not when we have at least 2 better strikers around.

Every top team nowadays has strikers who are much more than poachers and who get involved much more than Hernandez ever has.
