Chicharito Loan Watch | Real Madrid

He's way too good for them. That's downright depressing....

Yeah I don't think there's any chance he will go there unless they throw a lot of money our way and van Gaal has told him he won't get much game time.

Hernandez loves the club and is such a fan favourite it would be a real shame to see him go, if he does though it will be a bigger club than Southampton, if they're the best his agent can find him then he needs a new agent.

Really hope we keep him though, brilliant player to have on the bench and I can't imagine van Gaal will want to lose him either considering van Persies fitness so will hopefully end up bringing him on often enough to keep him happy at the club.

Would love to see him down on the south coast.

Would prefer to see him staying put tho.

I think he'll go this summer but I'd be amazed if he accepted a transfer to Southampton. Absolute lottery there this season as to how they'll do. Could find himself in a relegation dogfight.

On the other hand, he might relish the challenge.

Do.Not.Sell.

3 shots=1 goals when it comes to Chicharito. There aren't many players in world football who can match stats like that. Even as an option off the bench, you want to be able to count on that kind of consistency.

There will be games when we just need something, just someone to slide in at the far post and convert. For that Chicharito's your man. If we give Chico to someone else we'll regret it. Especially in a few years time when both Van Persie and Rooney are in their 30s.

His movement into goalscoring positions is 2nd to none. That goes unnoticed when people think about him many times.

It also helps push defenders deep and create space for others to play.

I would love to keep Chicharito, but it's really down to him. He's never going to get a consistent starting role for United and he'll always be an impact player coming off the bench.

Welbeck has more of a chance of starting over him I feel.

Big question - is Hernandez willing to bide his time, sat on the bench behind Rooney, Van Persie, Welbeck ? Dunno but I think it's a big waste of his abilities... Could be a 25 goal striker at some other club.

I really think he can thrive under this new system. It's up to him if he wants to stay or leave I suppose. He does offer us great variety in terms of striking options, but he's just unlucky in the fact that he has three better strikers in front of him, who have a more all-rounded game.

Would be fantastic if he stayed. I'd rather keep him rather than get a paltry £12-15 million for him. We very rarely do well when it comes to selling players anyway.

i mean if one assumes united is going to make a deep run at the cup, why should he get a starting nod at least once a week (even if its in the cup)?

I think he is gone and will be playing in Seria A next season.

Hope he stays.

If we get back to winning ways, LvG should be able to keep him happy the way SAF did, bringing him on to finish teams off and even to rescue us on RvP/Rooney's off days. At least happy enough until we're back in Europe and with games aplenty for everyone.

Took his goal well, I hope he gets to start on Monday with Danny out but I think Kagawa might partner Rooney.

I can't believe Van Gaal would keep using him if he wanted rid.

Look at how Van Gaal subbed Nani after 25 minutes against Inter, and then kept Nani away from the action today. Van Gaal continues to give Hernandez game time so he just feel he has some use.

I see your point kind of, but at the same time I disagree. Hernandez is an actual striker, he is there to put the ball in the net, as is rvp. Rooney is a playmaker really, not an out and out striker. And welbeck, hell knows what he is these days, flashes of brilliance, then he turns into a donkey. I'd take Hernandez over welbeck.

A striker doesn't need an all round game IMO, they need people who can actually deliver the balls they thrive on. This is where I think a Herrera / Hernandez partnership could work. Then again, I've been wrong before.

vanPersie and Wayne may\hopefully hit the ground running as a two up front and with the way the new system is panning out ,they should get a lot of support to focus on scoring goals.

If not though Chicarito should always be/have been utilised as plan b last 25 20 mins of games when things arent working out ,and the way he has been mis managed for ages now has been ridiculous as a supporter.

vanGaal im sure will spot what a clinical finisher javier truly is and will have the balls to chop either one of the two mainstays if/when their level drops.

If not, watch him score goals for fun whereever he goes and to me it would hUrt way more than pogba or even ronaldo, simply because even though he has the talent and work ethic/attitude of a proper united player he hasnt got a fair crack of the whip,

Its better for him to stay for one more season under LVG, before we deside to sell.I think he can brilliant striker under new formation 3-4-1-2.

On form He'd be ahead of Welbeck I'd say

It was not a pass to the build up to the goal but, a pass afterwards that LVG criticized. It was when Chicha was in the box and tried to wait for Kagawa to make the run and couldn't get him the ball - LVG said that he should have given a backpass to Cleverley instead. The pass he made was not smart and it was probably an effort to pay Kagawa back for the assist.

Yeah, just saw the video of the presser. Herbert has taken it out of context.

The goal was absolutely brilliant. Only he could score a goal like that.

If we're playing 352 next season, he is vital. Would love to see a Van Persie/Chicharito and Rooney/Chicharito partnership again.

Van Gaal is a perfectionist. It's very hard to see him praising anything.

Which if true is a massive flaw in his man-management. You can't expect perfection all the time and you must give credit where it is due. Frankly I think we'd be mad to get rid of Hernandez, simply because when he is on form he is a clinical finisher, unlike Welbeck who is probably one of the most efficient ball retaining players we've got but isn't by any means a natural goal scorer based upon his last few seasons.

I actually thought Hernandez's cameo yesterday actually summed up his United career to date, albeit in 30 minutes. He spent most of the time failing to hold up the ball, or getting quite easily knocked off it, then he pops up with an absolute beauty of a run and finish. And thats basically Hernandez in a nutshell.

Was thinking that as I watched the press conference. Mostly Van Gaal was complimentary about the impact he made as a sub and how involved he was. He had a smile on his face when he said that stuff about how Chico should've passed to Cleverley.

Herbert's spin on it is just click through bait.

Don't think anyone at the club wants him to spend his whole career as a substitute for us. He deserves a shot at regular football, somewhere he can be the star forward. Sometimes I find myself wondering if Ole would have been better off moving to Spurs when we accepted their bid back in 1998.

And missed out on scoring the winning goal in a champions league final?

That's a great pic! Proper killer instinct in his eyes!

While i think he should go, and it's better for both him and club, i will miss him.

@Lane I'd be surprised if Hernandez leaves now. Unlike Nani, who has been sidelined, Van Gaal continues to pick and play Hernandez. To me, that indicates that Van Gaal sees some use for him. The manager was very complimentary about Hernandez after the Madrid game, as @Shimo said Van Gaal even said he could get that Hernandez was trying to thank Kagawa for his assist when he should've passed to Cleverley. Also, Chico trained with the 'first XI' group last night, and Van Gaal said at his press conference that most players will play 90 minutes because he's planning for the first game and only has the Liverpool and Valencia fixtures to prepare for Swansea.

If Van Gaal was looking to get rid I doubt he would've had Chicharito in that 10-12 player group. Being a systems manager I don't think Van Gaal will try to shoehorn a non-striker into one of the two forward slots. He'll have two starters and two backups. I'm sure Hernandez is being earmarked for one of those roles.

He's one of only two available strikers, so it stands to reason he'll start if his fitness allows. I wouldn't read it as a sign that he's staying or going. At most it tells us LVG is still looking (I suspect he made his mind up quickly with Nani).

Maybe. The other way of looking at it is that Hernandez is definitely ahead of Zaha, Nani and Will Keane as options up front, they have all been used as forwards on this tour and they were all in the other group.

I'm not suggesting that Hernandez will be first choice striker under Van Gaal but I think, having looked at his options, Van Gaal sees him as being useful to have with Rooney, Van Persie and Welbeck. Given Van Gaal believes Van Persie is a few weeks behind, and that we don't know if Danny's knee will be better by time we play Swansea I don't think Van Gaal will sell Chico. Not yet at least.

I think the 3412 isolates the front three at times so the striker(s) needs to be a good all round footballer who holds the ball up well. Not sure Chico fits that description.

Think Young might start beside Rooney tonight.

Just read that Leicester had a £7m bid rejected for Troy Deeney. If we sell him for anything like that it would be a joke.
