What if he's already said yes and the club are putting together a package to offer Barca and/or the player? What if the club are working on multiple deals and the go ahead of one means the other deals are stopped or slowed down? What if Van Gaal has a transfer/wage budget and does not want to over pay for individuals?

Then they use the mystical email thing, maybe even a good old fashioned telephone, and ask him.

He's not a Mourinho type of player and Liverpool have no chance. If he's leaving it's to Arsenal or to us.

i cant see how liverpool have no chance. Good team and CL football. If they could match his wages, they would have a good chance.

If i were in fabregases position and had teams queing up for my signature and its between arsenal and liverpool at the moment and they both offer the same terms. Id be going to liverpool. They have the best striker in the world. and a good team ethic.

even if he goes to arsenal, he wont win jack shit other than an fa cup or league cup. Given the competition in the PL and CL, arsenal wont win either competition in the forseaable future. Liverpool would have a good chance of winning the PL.

Well according to the Arsenal fans on here, we are a mid table team who can't attract any decent players, so this is a non starter.

Although these are the same Arsenal fans who want to play 4222 and claim its near impossible to sign at least one world class player in a summer, let alone two, but they are going to sign Cesc and Benzema.
I didn't know the FA cup was so prestigious.

It helped Wigan to

Although Barcelona are willing to take £30m, if a team offers £40m surely they would accept the highest bid only.

I think we could outbid anybody here because Arsenal don't need him as much as we do therefore we would be willing to pay much more, Liverpool couldn't match the wages + fee we're willing to offer as they need to strengthen elsewhere also, City due to financial fair play can't spend outrageously therefore will be focused on defence first.

The only person is Mourinho who might want to move to a midfield three with the point backwards where Fabregas would fit in perfectly however I would think he'd rather join Robin and David at United than Jose at Chelsea.

It all depends on Louis van Gaal. I can see United playing a diamond next season or 4312 as I can see Louis content with Fabregas and wanting Strootman. He might even do a 3-3-1-3, unless Strootman plays the number 6 role and Fabregas the box to box number 8 so he would go to his favourite 4-3-3 with the point forward, Mata, Kagawa or Rooney could be the number 10.

Man, this is more interesting to me than the world cup right now. Think of all the possibilities, it won't just be one world class player in Fabregas we will go in for strong should the manager want him, there will be more as we all know there is money and also we all know there are players that need to go freeing up the wage bill and generating more funds for transfers.

Ffs get a grip of yourself man. All this pantomime bollocks is so embarrassing. Hated adored never ignored? Who are you even talking about? A footballing institution who ply their trade in the north west, that's it. Nothing more nothing less. Go and work for paddy power or something. This is not just aimed at you by the way
It took 20 years for Liverpool fans to descend into RAWK-style self parody.

Who are these Arsenal supporters that have said all that?

That's the biggest issue.

For now, until Real Madrid come calling...

Bit surprised if Arsene Wenger doesn't want Cesc back (take these sort of articles with a pinch of salt). I've got a feeling he'll end up at Man City anyway regardless if Arsenal wanted him back or not.

I don't know of the reliability of Matt Law, but even though Arsenal don't 'need' another midfielder in Fabregas' position, it would still majorly surprise me if they didn't make a bid.

I think Wenger is aware other clubs will want him and a side like United would be willing to go to the £40m mark to sign him however he personally won't. And if he bids £30m but then stops after that, people will start to say how Arsenal can't afford him or something along those lines.

Just have a feeling he's going to be Lampard's replacement at Chelsea. Makes a lot of sense. It seems Utd and Arsenal aren't interested, City and Yaya will kiss and make up and not sure Liverpool can afford him.

So in theory it's united, Chelsea and icy for Fabregas. No Barça player would ever play for Mourinho, that leaves united and City. De Gea and Mata or Silva and Navas. He'll walk into the united midfield. Probably wouldn't walk into the City midfield. But it's all speculation at the moment.

There would be some pressure for Arsenal to go in for him though regardless of whether they need him. I doubt the Arsenal fans will be content with their English rivals bidding for Cesc while Arsenal sit back and watch, and I doubt it would sit well with Wenger himself either.

If we are interested then I can't see City being able to match our offer due to FFP. I think if we are genuinely interested then the player is ours. They certainly won't sell him to Madrid and Bayern have too many cm even for Peps standards.

Wenger has already set up dinner with him in Brazil, it will be sorted out then.

Based on this one good season where their squad had nothing else to focus on but this competition? Arsenal have come close so many times only to implode towards the end because of the pressure of being in other competitions. Plus he and Wenger share a very close relationship. If he does have to chose between Arsenal and Liverpool, I am pretty sure he would go for the former.

Even if we get Cesc (a great signing) he wouldnt be enough by himself to sort out our midfield woes.

I'm not sure Fabregas would be attracted to working with Mourinho or going to Chelsea. I genuinely think we've got a great chance if Arsenal aren't interested. With FFP, United have great financial power - we'll spend more than City and Chelsea (net) this summer.

If we land players like Fabregas and Shaw this summer, we'll be back in the Champions League, no doubt. We'll also put in a very strong PL challenge - that's the way we need to sell it to prospective signings.

Wenger is stubborn. He's not going to spend circa £35m and £100k a week on wages to satisfy transfer muppets amongst the Arsenal fan base. He'll go for Fabregas if he feels he needs him. Looking at their midfield options, I don't see him being a target.

There's not a hope in he'll of Fabregas going to Chelsea to play under Mourinho.

There's no chance of Fabregas going to Chelsea to play under Mourinho. Fabregas would rather play for a manger whose team will play football.

Interesting point in the Telegraph piece there that he would count as a homegrown player for city.

He'd count as a homegrown player for any PL team. The only way he goes to City is if Toure leaves. It's clear as day that Toure is angling for a new deal, and such is his importance to City, he'll get it.

As good as Fabregas is, if City trade Toure for him, they'll lose more than they gain.

There's a lot of bad blood between Mourinho and Barca, which is why I agree with you.

I think LvG will be an attractive proposition to players, with his approach to football.
