Some of you'll are pessimistic buggers. Even if Van Gaal doesn't buy a single player thinking he can get more out of the current crop, give the man a chance to show whether he can. Judging our season as a success or failure based on transfer dealings is not the best way to go about things.

So he'll end up at Arsenal, Chelsea or City and will be one of the best midfielders next season.
Yeah, if he goes then it's to Arsenal IMO. I would be surprised if rumours are true and we aren't interested in him though.

Mata & De Gea whispering in his ear throughout the WC :smirk: He's as good as ours lads!

I trust van Gaal's judgement over Moyes anyway. But I can't help but feel the brief suggesting van Gaal is uninterested in certain players is just saving face.

OMFG. I want him so badly, he would fit so well! With De Gea and the warchest we are the second most likely destination for him after Arsenal and i doubt Arsene would want him.

Let's say we're interested, would it really be that unlikely that he'd choose us over Arsenal? Assuming that A) we'll be willing to pay him more than anyone else and B) we have more room for him in our team...

Even SAF wouldn't be able to get us winning titles with the squad as it is. In which case it's hardly fair to expect LVG to perform miracles. Investment (and smart investment at that) is essential.

Reliable journos have all been saying he isn't a target for us anymore. He will go to Arsenal.

Think he'll go to City.
They'll have a world class midfielder and someone who will fill the homegrown quota too.

Let's just Waite and see. Signing off mata did give me a bit off hope that we will compete to buy top players. I don't believe that van gaal is not interested.

It's so shit that Cesc will slip through our fingers.
Surely with the state of our midfield a player like Cesc would be perfect

We have to go for him.

There is a chance he will choose us over Arse. Why go backwards?

We can pay more and show bigger ambitions.

We understand Fabregas has a £30 million release clause written into his contract.

Interesting this. Now explains our bidding for him last season!

I'd be less nervous about LVG turning his nose up at Cesc if I had any clue who his actual midfield targets are. The strongest link so far has been Strootman and even that seems like an assumption base off his importance for the Dutch team.

In a way I'm glad as it was quite irritating having all our transfer dealings so public but at this stage a hint or two would be nice.

Not sure where that's from but it's nonsense. His buy-out clause is €200m.

Whether he has a specific release clause for Arsenal is another matter though...

So, Moyes moved (almost) heaven and earth (in a metaphoric sense) last summer to snare Fabregas for us, whilst all the talk so far under van Gaal has been that he doesn't rate/want him, yet you still feel the need to belittle Moyes in this thread?

It's just fecking tiresome at this stage. Adolescent behaviour.

It's from SkySports.

I think for 30m pounds, barcelona will sell Fabregas though.

Cheers, wouldn't be the first time Sky Sports got their facts wrong.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't rule it out. £30m or thereabouts would most likely get him.

You trust Moyes' judgement over van Gaal's? Didn't think so... This is you nitpicking, and not me.

Don't get your hopes up lads, we ain't getting Fabregas.

Our midfield will continue to be lame and pathetic.

Arsenal bound.

Yes, please.

I'm not sure what your perception of 'bigger ambitions' is. Arsenal may not be an absolute behemoth of a football club in terms of revenue and stature that United is, but they still have financial power behind them - exemplified by the Ozil signing. We can offer a greater wage package, but let's not act as if Arsenal aren't capable of going in an immediate upward trajectory when signing Ozil and Fabregas would very much mean they can.

Still, I'll be very frustrated if we do miss out on him to Arsenal given the gulf in class between the two sides respective midfields. It's not the midfield signing they need when they already possess excellent technicians in Cazorla, Ozil, Ramsey and even Wilshere.

I'm not usually one of the "He's going to City/Chelsea" but I deffo think he's going to City.

Arsenal are going to get Fabregas for a similar price to what we paid for a bogbrush.

Rage levels slowly rising.
