If we pay the money then we can compete just like the rest. But as it stands we seem to be negotiating with a joker, uno card, and maxed out credit card.

Probably 5/6 out of that list won't be moving anywhere this summer and have stated clearly this is the case. Reus, Hummels, Robben, Muller, Kroos, Dante..

What planet are we living on here?

I think Hummels is buyable. But you're correct on the rest

LVG really needs to look after this list more carefully
Leaking people who aren't on the list is alright. Much better than leaking those who actually are. Kroos and Fabregas both aren't on the list and we need central midfielders, gives me the feeling he's not after established players.

Aye well they're all buyable once you offer absolutely crazy money so the club is kicking them out the door, but that's not a sensible approach. We should be looking at reliable players in their early 20's with room for improvement. Gettable players. The rest is pure fantasy and it's irritating to see it splashed on the newspapers every day

Problem is our executive vice chairman has spent the last 8 months telling anyone who will listen that these top players are who Utd will be buying. Pure fantasy or not, its what HE has been telling the North West journos.

Problem is this could easily be a face saving leak. Andy Mitten firmly believes that's the case on Kroos.
Take it from a neutral point. Let's say van Gaal plays with a midfield 3 at Manchester United, he likes having a fast defensive midfielder making a lot of interceptions and joining the attack with a playmaker and a box to box midfielder in front of him. That is his ideal setup, you can get it from his interviews.

We don't have that type of defensive midfielder, our only box to box is Fellaini and Mata or Kagawa and in a couple of years Januzaj can fulfill the playmaker role in that midfield 3. Both Kroos and Fabregas strike me as the playmaker types so it does make sense that they're not on this famous list. You will see it this way if you look at it logically.

van Gaal is looking at signing the right midfielders for his system and a defensive midfielder and a box to box with the qualities he wants from them are his priority. Kroos and Fabregas may the 2 of the best midfielders in the world but they might not be what he's looking for.

You could be right but club, more or less, had deal for carvalho done and we've stopped that one. I honestly cannot see what he is planning.

What midfielders are we going to sign then? Worrying this.

I agree Woodward fecked up last summer but some of the abuse he gets here is ridiculous, the window hasnt even started yet and he is getting blamed for letting Vidal, Strootman, Fabregas, Shaw, Kroos etc slip. I wonder if he will equal praise if we signed one of these lads?

Doesn't even fit at Arsenal, what are they going to do with Ramsey, Fabregas, Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere and Rosicky? They need a solid defensive midfielder right now and they will be fine next year when Ramsey plays next to him. Then Ozil can play the CAM/no 10 role. Fabregas has no role there.

Get rid of Rosicky. Simple.

It's probably a tactic that doesn't hurt at all in attracting sponsorship, but is a simply ridiculous tactic otherwise.

Fabregas would be better than all of that lot if he showed his 2 years ago form. That's how he'd fit in.

Latest Duncan Castles' Times article:

Fabregas was signed from Arsenal in the summer of 2011 for a fee of €29m (now £23.5m) plus €5m in performance-related variables, only €2m of which have been met. Though Arsenal inserted a buy back clause in the deal it will not prevent the 27-year-old from moving elsewhere should another club outbid his former club or Fabregas refuses to return to North London.

Arsenal were unimpressed by the manner in which he extracted himself from London, while Manchester United are not interested in signing Fabregas.

Harry has always rated him...

Cesc is going to derail our summer, isn't he?

It was so disappointing he wasn't there in his black leather jacket against Hull to cheer us on.

Will cesc go back to his ex? Or will he go to the club that his ex hates? Or will he settle down for the long term? So much drama.

He's not fúcking going to Spurs.
Surely arsenal fans hate united more. Spurs don't really threaten arsenal and as far as I am aware never have. I would have considered the united rivalry to have been bigger than the spurs one.

They don't. Witness Wilshere's comments at the FA Cup victory parade. They don't have much love for United but the average Gooner hates Spurs with a vengeance.

Man Utd haven't been top of the pops for a while due to your bastard success, a few more seasons of mediocrity (a drop off in arrogance) and you'll be even less annoying. You still pissed me right off by taking 5 points off us last season.

Cesc in London with his girlfriend? Was it Matthaus who broke the story by any chance? :p

Chelsea have cash and:

----DiegoCosta----
Hazard-Oscar-Willian
---Cesc---Matic---

looks a proper front 6 for smashing the league, with maybe Oscar or Willian being dropped for Ramires, Mikel, Van Ginkel or another CM in tougher games, with Cesc pushed up a bit.

If he`s arsed, Cesc can play that deep for Mourinho.

He hates Mourinho: Real coach, defensive football and dissing his mentor.
