Great signing. A typical Jose player if there ever was one, basically a cnut.

Doesn't bode too well for him when the last two strikers Chelsea spent £30 million + on were Torres and Shevchenko.

Having said that, I expect him to thrive under Mourinho. And with Willian, Oscar and Hazard behind him I do believe that attack makes Chelsea a force to be reckoned with next season.

Anyway, this a great signing for Chelsea. Very Mourinho, and if I were a Chelsea supporter I'd be liking the direction he seems to have for his team. All it needs is a Fabregas, incidentally.

Very good signing for them, I think he'll suit Chelsea well and flourish under Mourinho.

Buying a striker was always going to be Chelsea's main priority this summer so I'm not sure who else they'll need. Probably replacements for Lampard and Cole, both of whom are leaving. If they were to get, for instance, Fabregas and Shaw then they'd be looking very strong for next for next season. Not having David Luiz is basically a new signing as well.

Costa: "I've always dreamed of living in London playing for Chelsea, even when I dreamed of playing for Real, Barca, Bayern, Manchester United, Hamilton Academicals etc etc. I expect to thrive under this week's Chelsea manager."

Chelseas midfield last season wasn't good enough and since then Lampard has left.

If (and lets not kid, that should be when) they strengthen that part of their team, they will be favourites. Until then it's still City.

Sorry, I'll just sit back and accept how teams around us are pulling even further away.

I think part of the point is that other teams, have always and will always sign players in attempts to improve. It happens every transfer window, there really is no point in whining about it everytime they sign a player.

I'm aware of that, I just find it frustrating is all. Worst type of transfer muppert me.

Another swift and efficient transaction done by Chelsea. We really need to consider tapping up whoever's in charge of sorting out their transfer dealings.

Want Hazard? Ok. Want to nab Willian from under the noses of Spurs? Fine. Matic? No problem. Need a striker? Let's buy Costa.

Whereas we were linked with Sneijder for three years, got ripped off for Fellaini on Transfer Deadline Day, had some imposters with briefcases ruin the Herrera transfer and are still trying to convince Fabregas to join us (if reports are to be believed). Everything is so drawn out and protracted.

We've bought and nabbed a whole host of players under the Ferguson regime with minimal fuss. Last Summer was horrendous, but let's not pretend it has been the norm. Ferguson didn't buy a midfielder for all that time, and it was he that pulled out of the bidding for the likes of Hazard due to agent fees and the like. Blame who you want for that, nobody can know for sure whether or not he was hindered in the market in a financial sense.

All of this guff would make some semblance of sense if it were September, but it isn't. We will sign players over the summer, you can be sure of that.

Swift and efficient? Actually seemed to take a long for them to get this deal done. First rumoured last summer. Again rumoured in January to be in the works for the summer and continued to be rumoured as a "done deal" for the balance of the season until now.

Next City will make a huge signing, then Arsenal then Liverpool. And us?...

Ermahgerd somebody signed someone #busbyout

When did the medical happen? Just now while he is away with Spain? He has mostly been injured since April, so did it happen even before April?

They can do medicals anywhere, just send the medical team to wherever the player is.
As for his fitness, he seems okay now.

If we get Fabregas/Koke too I can see us really sustaining the title challenge this season.

Creative midfield and Striker are the two obvious positions we needed strength in considering our defence was comfortably the best in the league last season. That being said will a new more attacking style change that?

Hope he adapts quickly, he seems to be that kind of player who is suited to the EPL, but we shall see.

Wasn't his like 30m?! He really isn't worth that.
If Fellaini is worth 27 than Herrera is worth double the amount!

And in the midfield state we are in any good midfielder should be worth 30 mil for us, any great close to 40/50 mil!

So, do we reckon Lukaku will push for a perm transfer? Could be a big mistake by Chelsea if he does and he turns out to be the monster he's able to be.

Doubt it. He'll probably be their 2nd choice striker with one of Torres or Ba sold. He'll get plenty of playing time.

he should show some bollix and fight for a place like he should have done last season.
Saying that though...him and Costa upfront together if Chelsea need to go that way in a game could be frightening

Another almighty cnut joining the league - we really need Suarez to leave to a foreign club in order to provide some sort of balance.

there was an actual delay by all accounts to wait until he was fit again..otherwise this would have been done 3 days ago

Atletico president just said regarding Costa they won't force anyone to play for Atletico.

Regarding Koke he said Koke wants to stay and he is the face of the club / their most marketable player.

There goes the notion that no other clubs have signed anyone.... Panic mode on :nervous:

:wenger:

Van Persie is better

Also every striker Chelsea have signed bar Drogba has regressed since Roman took over
