So took 50 days for the official confirmation to be made, and this is just on them activating the release clause. Still not finished yet.
Something something United slow to conclude deals etc etc.

Gah! Why can't we take ages to sign players who looked rubbish at the World Cup?!1!!?

Can't be worse than Torres. Costa at least has a pair of balls.

Even if he only scores 15 PL goals it's a massive improvement. I think he'll bag them around 20. Hazard created by far the most chances in the league last season and they've now added Fabregas, so he'll have no shortage of service.

Mixed feelings about this. He was excellent for Atletico in what was a similar role to what he'll have at Chelsea.

On the other hand he looked crap for Spain and is a bellend (although Drog was a bellend and I love him).

Suddenly Chelsea will be unbeatable according to this idiot.

Where does he rank among Europe's elite for you guys? Personally think he is a level below the likes of Suarez, Falcao, RVP, Lewandoswki etc

Amongst the elite? Low down, he's had one good season and was seriously outshone by Falcao when both were there. That said, he's a great player and will prove a success I think.

Same. Can't see him scoring 30 goals like Suarez or RvP and he isn't going to single handedly win matches with a moment of brilliance but he'll still score a bunch and cause problems with his physical presence and excellent movement.

I personally don't think Mourinho will play Fabregas next to Matic. Reckon he'll play him how he used to play Lampard - the most attacking midfielder in a 4-3-3.

Something like:

Cech
Ivanovic - Cahill - Terry - Azpilaqueta
Matic
Ramires - Fabregas
Willian - Costa - Hazard

Decent team, but certainly not unbeatable.

He looks like a suarez type player, will no doubt be getting a few red cards and suspensions

It's a very strong team but there is still no guarantee of goals I do feel.

Swap Cech for Courtois, Luis in for Ivanovic, and I wouldn't be surprised if they bring in another midfielder.

Courtois will be their number 1 next year I feel.

Their defence doesn't match the quality in front of them, they're beatable.

They had the best defense in the league last season and are improving it.

You reckon Cech will leave then, because there's no way he'll be happy being back up? He's too good for that.

Plus they've resigned Mark Schwazer for another year, strange to have 3 very good keepers. Courtois back to Atletico on loan as part of the Diego Costa deal perhaps?

Drogba is another type of bellend who was liked by quite a lot neutrals, and even opposition fans(me included). I am not sure many neutrals likes Costa too much, and I am quite sure all opposition fans will dislike him if he keeps up being cnut like he was for Atletico.

As for his football qualities, it will be interesting too see how he does in England, I think premiership might suit him, but you never know.

I think Oscar will be in there somewhere, crackin little player that lad

£32m in today's market is a good piece of business for a top notch striker. This was a deal that was supposed to be done a while ago, but it seems Athletico was dragging it's feet hoping some other club would come in and start a biding war. That didn't happen and you have to wonder if Costa is all that good why wasn't any other team in for him?

Terry is a year older and I can't see him having as good as a season again. He'll do a Rio and decline rapidly.

I'd put down their low goals conceded to the defensive lineup Mourinho tends to put out; 2 defensive midfielders protecting the defence.

No offence @Mister_Stubbs, but why would you post the opinion of some young journo college student?. Is he really that important people have to embed his Tweets.

I think Cech could start as number 1, but Courtois will cement his place as number before the end of the season. He's the future, Mourinho isn't scared to drop goalkeepers when needed.

I believe Cech will be injured for the start of the season and it's been confirmed that Courtois will return.

With Schwarzer extending for another year I'm thinking that it means Cech will be sold.

Costa is more of a Suarez type of bellend.

Technically he's bang average and he's just not world class. Just glad they didn't get Falcao.

Only for the last few years. For his first few seasons at Chelsea he was boo'd up and down the country for his bellendish behaviour on the pitch.

I wouldn't go by what players look like at the WC. If you had never watched football in your life and started with this World Cup, you'd think Spain, Italy, England and Portugal are full of mediocrity. And the other way around, some of the players that are looking like bee's knees in Brazil now, will disappoint you when the regular season comes around.

The only thing that worries me about Costa is that injury he has been struggling to shake off. As long as he's fit, I'm sure he'll do well for us.

He is an extremely limited striker.

I think he will score a decent amount of goals, but he won't be creating a lot of his own chances.

Needs to keep himself out of trouble as well, expect a few bans along the way which could cost you but I'm sure Jose will have words with him about his antics.

I'm as yet unconvinced by Costa. He had a brilliant season, no doubt. 27 league goals in Spain is very impressive. But He's 25. And had never broken 10 league goals before this. His highest was 10 league goals wasn't it? Like many strikers have had one golden season where everything they touch goes in.

There is no doubt I could be proven wrong this season. He could be exactly what Chelsea need and he's definitely an improvement on what they have there at the moment, but I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't live up to expectations.

I definitely wouldn't be getting rid of Lukaku or sending him out on loan. He got 15 league goals for a far inferior team, but at least it was in the Premier League.
I don't rate Lukaku on the highest level at all, his hold up play is woeful at times.

As long as he's fit, I'm sure he'll do well for us.

I remember being sure Fleck would do well for us, that Sutton would do well for us, that Sheva would tear the Prem a new one. Hell, I even remember watching a Youtube video of Kezman thinking he'd thrive at Chelsea.

I've long since given up with optimism when it comes to strikers at Chelsea!

We all saw how Costa did for Spain. He doesnt fit into the way they played, and Chelsea will have to spend time having him learn new strategies or accomodate him.

You're right. I don't think he'll be like RvP is for us or Suarez for Liverpool where he's regularly setting up teammates for goals or pull some magic out of nowhere. He doesn't really need to, though, since he's got plenty of creative players behind and around him.
