Difficult choice for Adam if we're in for him -

Join the biggest club in the world, play and train week in week out with world class players, have the most successful living manager on Earth handle your development, play in the CL, win trophies.

Or join a failing, sinking ship who've been living in the past for the last 20 years, who's best player is about to leave them and who don't play anything even approaching creative football.

Hmm, it's a tough one.

This is based merely off Fergie's complimentry comments about Adam the other day, I'd be shocked if we bought him.

It's not old, but it's a bit old when it comes to basics like fitness and stamina. He's pretty much at his physical prime right about now, or should be, but he was well knackered by the second half. Could he improve? Yes, probably, but it speaks to him just not being a well-developed player. It's one thing to buy that sort of player at 18-20, it's quite another when he's 25.

Yeah Reid definitely did shed a few pounds when he made a brief comeback in the Sunderland side last season but I haven't seen him in ages now so maybe he has been back on a burer binge since then.

He is similar to Adam in that they are both technically gifted players that can pick a pass and are good set piece takers. However, just like Reid I don't think Adam would make it at a top team due to his lack of athletisism and the fact that he needs acres of space to be on top of his game. We gifted him that in the first half the other night but he wont get that kind of space all too often.

Acres of space is not something you get - it's something you create for yourself. At 36 and 37 Scholes and Giggs still have that every time they receive the ball - it's something good players always have.

And as for Charlie Adam being worn out after 50 minutes - in all fairness, the entire Blackpool-team looked half-dead after an hour. That hasn't only to do with poor fitness - it also has to do with little squad-rotation and it has a lot to do with the fact that Blackpool were running around like mad-men for the first hour closing us down.

I suppose if we offload gibson to blackpool then it wouldn't seem as bad. Adams isn't any worse than gibson...only better i would say!

Would be exactly the right kind of signing for Liverpoool, but not for us right now. Rather there are simply better options and the replacement of Scholes will require us going for one of the best options, not just any good player who can play the ball around.

Sure if he was just coming as a 3rd option or something there'd be no harm in that, but I cant see him wanting to spend most of his time on the bench and giving experience to the carling cup team

While it would be nice for the squad, there's no point in buying Adam if we're going to play him so little.

But maybe we would play gibson a little more if he would actually nring something to the team. I honestly can't say i've seen adam play loads, so can't comment and say whether he is united quality or not. Maybe saf said he worth £10m just to bump up the price & do liverpool over because i doubt saf would set a price if he was genuienly after him. Bit of game playing by saf i think!

I think he just felt Liverpool were trying to get him on the cheap and sly, so he wanted to add his two pence to make sure Blackpool werent going to be hard done by

I think SAFs comment was mischievous ..... perhaps he was just driving the price up so Liverpool have to pay more!

I cant imagine this guy playing for us.

Liverpool target Charlie Adam outed as a Manchester United fan, plus daft quotes from Paul Merson, Darren Gough, Alex McLeish, Kevin Keegan - Steve Anglesey's 3PM column - 3pm - MirrorFootball.co.uk

Blackpool appear to be resorting to sneaky tricks in their battle to keep Charlie Adam out of the clutches of Liverpool.

Last week's matchday programme for the visit of Manchester United contained an interview with Adam in which the midfielder proclaimed his love of Manchester United, stating he is "a regular visitor to Old Trafford when the Seasiders aren't in action".

Bound to endear him to the Anfield faithful.

Blackpool decided not to do new programs for the rescheduled game to save money. So TBF at the time of the interview Adam probably had no clue about an interest from Liverpool.

To be fair we gave him acres of space the other night, I wasn't generalising I was talking about that particular match. Great players like Iniesta, Scholes, Fabregas etc etc are great at finding space and could do so against most teams, thing is Adam is far from a great player and I don't think he could do it on a regular basis.

I was talking about his fitness in general , as I have said he reminds me of Andy Reid, he is talented but his general fitness doesn't look great, look at him sure he is clearly carrying more than a few extra pounds.

Going on about his fitness is ridiculous. The lad's playing in a team full of first division (at best) players and the main attacking threat - so everything goes through him. Against United they were ran ragged by the team top of the league filled with supposed top players, having to close down constantly.

I watched the Liverpool and Blackpool game the other week and in the last ten minutes of the game he was still bombing forward. He might not look the fittest, and some players - as with people generally haven't the best natural fittnes, but make no mistake, if he wasn't fit he wouldnt be playing in the PL, nor would he be playing as well as he is against teh top sides in the league.

I cant see where anyone compares him to the likes of Iniesta and Scholes - thats just ridiculous - but I'm amazed that people can't see what a good player he is, even when clubs are seemingly queueing up to get him at a very decent price by todays standards.

As I've said before - if he was Brazilian people on here would be cryiong out for Fergie to sign him.

I haven't seen a huge amount of him but watching him the other night all I could think of was 'Hollywood ball'.

I thought he had a good first half against us, but I haven't seen enough of him to judge him.

He's got a bit of ability, can really pick a pass with his left peg but he'll never be in the same class as the central midfielder we need to replace in the next year. Would be a really good signing for Liverpool though

He's a fantastic player, just because he plays for Blackpool does not mean he's shite you know.

Andy Reid's having a medical at Blackpool. One fat playmaker in, one out, I guess.

@SkyBet:
Some big money on Manchester United to sign Charlie Adam and Andy Reid's move to Blackpool prompts us to cut odds on Adam moving to Old Trafford from 8/1 to 1/4. New Sky Sports customers can claim a completely free £5 bet here.

He's a bit of a tub though, isn't he?

Not the athletic kind of fatty like Rooney, but a proper lard ass. I'd leave him well alone.

@teamtalk: Ian Holloway telling reporters that Blackpool chairman is not picking up calls from Liverpool re Charlie Adam.

If we sign Charlie fecking Adam I'll hunt down Fergie and pull out his armpit hairs, one by one.

i've just seen adam in greggs at the trafford centre.
