No damnit. I like Adam but can we not for once buy a good, established player like Schweinsteiger? We are badly lacking quality in midfield and Charlie Adam is not the answer.

Eh? Who said he'd be replacing Giggs and Scholes? He'd be a decent squad player and would bring something a bit different. I wouldn't be totally opposed to the idea as long as the money isnt crazy.
As an option in our squad, akin to a JOS/Gibson/Park then sure. My concern is that we have all long felt we need an injection of serious quality in midfield this summer, and instead we are going to get Charlie bleedin' Adam.
As a squad option, sure. But even if we sign Adam I would still hope we would be in for another CM in the summer.
I dare say you wouldn't be the only person who rates him better than Gibson.
I would take Adam over Gibson, though I dont feel that either of them are adequate to be a first team starter for us, and I doubt either ever will be.

You don't sign new players on the basis that they're better than our academy products, who can do a job for free. This "he's better than Gibson, so we should sign him" argument makes no sense at all.
