Charlie Adam | Set for talks with Liverpool

You don't sign new players on the basis that they're better than our academy products. This "he's better than Gibson, so we should sign him" argument makes no sense.

We're looking to replace Scholes and Giggs, not Darron fecking Gibson.

Usually I would agree with you there Pogue but since the 25 Man Squad rule I think things have changed a little, as it stands Gibson is using one of the 25 Man spots as a homegrown player.

As a like for like replacement, as Adam would also be classed as homegrown, I think it does actually make alot of sense. As a squad player Adam would bring alot more to the team than Gibson currently does.

I'd be reasonable happy if we brough in Adam with Gbson going the other way plus a few million.

He'd not be a bad player to have in our squad at all, and he'd surely become a better player with United. Look how far he's come with Blackpool!!

1638: I'm told there is no truth in the 'Charlie Adam to Man Utd' rumours. Apparently, Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston is refusing to answer calls from Liverpool about the Scotland midfielder... maybe that United story started when Kenny Dalglish phoned up pretending to be Sir Alex Ferguson instead?

Agreed. I don't think it will happen mind, but I think it'd make our squad stronger if Gibson left and we gained Charlie Adams. The question is, how much stronger and would it be worth the 4-5 million to do it.

I'm sure this is a huge let-off for Barcelona. They were shaking in their boots at the thought of Charlie Adam in our midfield.

Arsenal will teach Barcelona a footballing lesson though :wenger:

Oh wait they have an excuse now in Nasri's injury.

He's clearly a better player than Gibson but that's irrelevant.

Once we replace Scholes with someone who can play a bit more regularly then Gibson becomes even more marginalised and will play even fewer games. Plus there's Hargreaves to be replaced an' all.

Why on earth would you spend several million quid on someone who will start fewer than the 3 or 4 PL gams that Gibson started so far this season?

We need to sign midfielders as good or better than Scholes or Hargreaves. Signing someone on the basis that they're better than Gibson is utter madness.

People standing outside, in front of things.

SSN Reporter in manc "If I had money for every text I've received from a United fan over Adam I'd be a wealthy man"...Yeah but I bet you couldn't repeat any of them on air.

Sky are saying there's nothing happening with Charlie

Hull City have completed the permanent signing of Cameron Stewart from Manchester United.

WOW

There's a good chance that Scholes is going to hang his boots up at the end of the season and I agree that we need a replacement for him, that's a no brainer.

The point I am making is that Leagues and Cups are won by having a strong squad and if the rumours that we are trying to part exchange Gibson and a few Million on top for Adam then I am all for it.

You're basically talking about £5m or so to strenghten your sqaud and that can make the difference to a whole campaign when you have a congestion of fixtures and you have to rely on your fringe players to play the weaker teams, or you get an injury to a key player and you have to rely on your fringe players.

Also bookies odd's are based on people betting, not on "what they know" particularly....All you really need is one looney delusional muppet to bet a large amount on it, and the odds are slashed.

So lets all hope that one delusional muppet is a City or Liverpool fan ey.

it certainly used to be, these days its alot more based on rumours and shite especially since the advent of exchanges.

Next manager/next club markets are one of the most profitable for all bookies. paddypower for instance had over 10 different "favourites" for the Ireland job. I suppose idiots will always part with their money.

The only way a strong squad works is if you can keep everyone happy and motivated. The likes of Gibson and O'Shea are United through and through, so won't throw a strop if they don't get many games.

Asking Charlie Adams to go from the main man at Blackpool to take the place of a fringe player like Gibson is never going to work.

Imagine the size of him if he starts comfort-eating?!?

Karl Oysten 'Nothing doing with Adam to #LFC, not keen to spend the £50m they are getting for Torres'

I was kind of hoping we'd buy him and loan him back to Blackpool for the rest of the season

some ppl over here are underrating Adam. At 10m he s definitely a good buy

forget this no value in the market excuse we simply dont have the funds. It is worrying as all those around us continue to strenghten.

Our team is crying out for a creative player to give us a lift for the remainder of the season in all competitions- our lack of activity speaks for itself.

If fergie continues on this 'no value' theme we will never sign the quality players we need, if carroll is worth 35+ million what are we gonna be asked for bale, modric sanchez etc etc ?

Who's been brought that you wish we were interested in?? We DON'T need Carrol we DON'T need Torres (We have Rooney) and we DON'T need Adam. He's not going to make a big difference he's talented but as lazy as Darron Gibson(However he is better).
