Champions League Semi Finals (9th - 17th May)

This is the first time I see Vinicius score a goal like this.

Wasn't expecting it tbh.

I don’t think it’s a foul. He kind of falls forward while dragging his back foot. Imo he sees the penalty area and goes for the pen but goes down a little early so Camavinga just slides across in front of him without contact.
I’ll see if I can find it again
Wow that one? Really??? As clear a dive as you'll see

Madrid's xG was 0.06 in this half  They had one shot.

That's efficiency for you.

Man City should bring on either Mahrez or Alvarez on their right side. Silva+Walker won't work against Vinicius and Camavinga.

Alright, I'll put Putins invasion on the note as "not a foul". Cause that was as fecking obvious as his "special military operation" was. I hate both teams equally, but guess you won't find that on a utd forum.

It was a dive, didn't you see the replay?

I know it probably sounds harsh but does anyone else think Ederson might have done better with that goal?

It's a good strike with plenty of power but seems to be at a saveable height, not too far into the corner. Looks like Ederson almost gets there but he takes half a step to his left before diving across to his right so ends up not getting far across enough.

That's what makes them so dangerous to play against, especially in a cup competition.

He did that because he was provoked and deliberately shoved into the ad boards.

What player would react well after being shoved there?
Yes, provoked by the better player this half who has him in his pocket.
This is top level football, this is how it works. Mouthing off after getting fouled as if you proved something is idiotic, he’s doing what he wants to you Jack, including that foul that you’re so proud of winning

By allowing Carvajal to body Grealish into ad boards, or the trip to stop an obvious counter or allowing Rudiger to body check Gundogan when he had zero chance of winning the ball?
Refs can’t stop any player from doing whatever they wish. They can’t proactively disallow. It’s a ref’s job to punish properly after the fact.

He certainly looks the part. Imagine if they get Bellingham next season?
That’s Reals planning for you, and actually spending less than us since Fergies retirement. We don’t have the foresight to plan like that, we already need to think about Casemiros replacement despite only just signing him.

Don’t think that really matters nowadays when man city are on course to win the league with the same goalkeeper…again
If it ends up costing them the CL yet again I think it matters. Also could have cost them the PL if Arsenal hadn't choked (still could technically).

City have a tactical quandary going into the second half; the more they push on, the stronger the counter they face will be. In a neutral game, Real's technical level is far too high to be flustered.

Let's see what they're made of now that the pressure's really on. Lots of risk involved now.

City looking quite soft. Carvajal is a twerp but some of the pearl clutching about Real’s physicality is completely over the top. The worst foul in that half was committed by Bernardo Silva on Camavinga and he wasn’t even booked.

Came to post this, I think many keepers would have saved that. He takes a little step to his left and it wrong foots him a bit, but the shot was very close to him from that rear view.

We’d have hammered Dave for not saving that

I like the way Real handled the first half. Haaland invisible, midfielders hurt, back line angry, and most beautiful of all, Pep afraid of his job. Only downside is that Grealish is still in the game.
And boy is Camavinga on fire.

Real Madrid will need to bring a lead to Manchester, so far so good in that regard.

It makes no difference - City will beat them. There’s no way City won’t win this tie, and if I’m wrong please quote this and call me a cnut.

But you won’t, because City will definitely win.

KdB disappears as usual in important games.

He will grow into the tie and boss Madrid, it’s inevitable.
