Champions League Semi Finals (24th April - 2nd May)

The combination of balls and luck that Real Madrid have in this competition is mind boggling.
Watch them lose 5-0 to Barsa and then win the CL on penalties.

Thought Ribery was shocking tonight, constantly made the wrong decisions in the 2nd half, took too much out of the ball and not pulling that ball across for Wagner was criminal.

Fwiw I thought Juve were the better team in the 1st leg till Ronaldo's stunner, were easily the better team in the 2nd leg, and Bayern the better team in both legs but credit to Real, they find a way every time. Given their performances against Spurs, Juve and Bayern, I think Liverpool have a better chance then I ever thought possible. It's like Madrid are relying on the opposition shitting a break in front of their goal last couple of games and a couple of minutes of class here and there.

I can genuinely see Liverpool blow Madrid away in the first hour if they play no DM and like they did tonight.
Of course if Madrid score first or the longer it goes 0-0 the more you'd fancy Madrid.

My only regret is we can't have him for the final

Now watch Liverpool eviscerate us

Liverpool struggle against teams who defend deep and counter attack. I don't see Real Madrid playing naively like City and Roma did against Liverpool.

Does anyone else think of happier times when seeing Bayern players crying after the final whistle in a CL match?

This myth about the german mentality should be dead by now. No nation, no matter if international or champions league (mostly Bayern, also Leverkusen for example), has bottled as much as we have. Not even close.

Rodriguez kicking the ball out when their guy went down with cramp with about 8 mins to go was so typical Bayern in recent years. James allowed the crowd to control him, no reason to kick it out, take the advantage, make the ref stop it, don't be so accommodating. I am sure his teammates will be letting him know about it, especially after all the late time wasting.
Was hilarious (although wrong imho) that Heynckes used the dead ball to sub him off immediately. It was really stupid. Madrid were reeling and he gave them a breather to re-organize themselves.

Have to say I’d be a bit angry at James if I was a Bayern fan.

Seemed to care more about not annoying Real than concentrating on Bayern, bit of an insult to their fans I thought not celebrating his goal with the (heyyy look at me not celebrating non celebration) how you can’t celebrate a semi final champions league goal is wrong to me. Takes away emotion of scoring from your teammates too.

Also way he kicked the ball out in 82nd minute just because a Real player went down with cramp is ridiculous. No need whatsoever to kick the ball out there, no head injury. Again I think that’s disrespecting Bayern just to try and keep in Real’s good books.

That did erk me (I'm not a Bayern fan but obviously want German teams to do well), even Thiago was up in arms at him. When he scored, and Bayern had to get another, Wagner had to push him to say put your hands down get back behind the half line and get the game started you tw*t

That being said, he played brilliantly today and Bayern will pin their hopes on him for next season.

It's weird isn't it, Zidane could win triple back to back UCLs, but be utter gash in the league. God knows how you rank him based on that.

He’s only been gash in the league this season. Last season was great, and the season before that they only finished second because of Benitez’ shit start. Think from the moment ZZ took charge they got more points than Barca.

Disagree with this, strongly. Score was very strange, we were the better team for most of that game, created a lot more and missed some absolute sitters. Buffon was one of the best players on the pitch.

I thought he did it because it was his parent club. his teammates looked pretty annoyed by that.

With the amount of chances/goals in both semi finals, watch how the final will be a 0-0 draw with Madrid winning it on penalties.

His team didn't flatter him in the CL neither. His players' quality is saving him in KO competitions like the CL, where motivation is a viable substitute for a working system.

By the way where is Nueur these days , he would'nt have made those mistakes at the back.

Did you watch us defend? Did we look good defending deep? Did we even look capable of playing on the counter?

You people seriously need to stop peddling that bs. We will not sit deep and play on the counter in the final, not unless we're forced to

Thanks! The other day I read, I do not remember who said it, if someone from your board or some former player that Bayern could have developed some kind of complex, or added fear against Madrid, do you think it could be something of that ?. You arrived thousand times to the area but ...

Gerrard talking about Ulreich: "I've been there myself when you lose your foot in at a vital moment":lol:

Love how Lineker went to Gerrard on that particular question too. Top bantz!

You can see Ulreich wanted to pick the ball up with his hands and had his body positioned accordingly. Then he realized he was not allowed to, so he tried to use the wrong foot on the clearance attempt, and slipped. Should have gone with the percentage play and just given away the freekick. Maybe it´s not even recognized by the referee. He generally seemed pretty unaware of rules infractions in the penalty box.

Best thing about Bayern vs Real is you always get to see one team of cheats and timewasters lose,

What a fraud both Müller and Lewandowski are though? They do feck all in the big games. They are nearly 30 and i barely remember any big game they influenced bar the odd 4 goal game from Lewa when he was Dortmund.

It was Beckenbauer

Beckenbauer, yeah. One of the less stupid things he has said over the years.

Don´t flatter yourself. Bayern have choked against far worse team than you. :nervous:

If we look at the route both Madrid and Liverpool took to the final, it's not even a comparison. Madrid should and hopefully would win it.

A team full of winners and experience, extreme mentality and tough players - exactly the team we want to play Liverpool in the final.

People talk about Liverpool’s offensive unit against Real’s open defensive unit, but everyone should look what’s happening at the other side of the pitch. Real always create chances, they always score - and they are never freightened if they go under. Varane perfectly suited to beat Salah/Mane for pace.

The final is also about what’s going on mentaly for 90 minutes, here Real Madrid are the best of all.

Liverpool are much better defensively than they have been in years. Since Jan 30th they've conceded only 11 goals in 17 games and have faced City x 2, United and Spurs. Not too mention two of those goals came from falling asleep vs Roma with the tie done.

Disagree with this, strongly. Score was very strange, we were the better team for most of that game, created a lot more and missed some absolute sitters. Buffon was one of the best players on the pitch.

In fairness you did miss a couple of soft ones to kill that game. I thought alot was made of Buffon making average saves. While I'm promoting Liverpool I'd still make you favorites, I just think the possibility is there that they could well blow you away, honestly I didn't give them a prayer until recently, such a weird season for you guys.

That said credit to RM and Zidane, you guys own this competition, 3 CL finals in 3 seasons is unbelievable and if you make it 3 wins you will go down as the greatest club side of all time imho and deservedly so.

Honestly, i don't know why any bayern fan is still here instead of getting pissed. I'd want to erase these two games from my memory as quickly as possible

I'll enjoy the Champions League Final a lot, lot more should Roma get through tomorrow night. Madrid are a mentally strong outfit, arguably the toughest in Europe, but even then there's the potential of a Scouse game-raising special in a one-off final.

A shuddering, absolutely shuddering, eventuality.
