Champions League Round of 16 (15th Feb - 16th Mar)

Why couldn't Villareal get the scousers?

Liverpool couldn’t draw Villarreal since that would have left Inter Milan having to play against either Madrid (same group) or Juventus (same country).

So to recap

Original draw

Benfica vs Real Madrid
Villarreal vs Manchester City
Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich
Salzburg vs Liverpool
Inter Milan vs Ajax
Sporting Lisbon vs Juventus
Chelsea vs Lille
Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester United

Redraw

Salzburg vs Bayern Munich
Sporting Lisbon vs Manchester City
Benfica vs Ajax
Chelsea vs Lille
Atletico Madrid vs Manchester United
Villarreal vs Juventus
Inter Milan vs Liverpool
Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid

City/Chelsea/Juve protected in both draws
Bayern/Benfica the biggest winners of the redraw
Real obvious the biggest losers

Just give him a round of applause when he scores at the Bernabau and that will secure the transfer in the summer.
We should honestly have it secured long before we play them if Flo still got it

Chelsea somehow get Lille again, that's actually ridiculous

Not sure if my maths is correct but there was a 25.19% chance of drawing Lille once. For it to happen twice before either draw was undertaken was 6.345%. (0.2519*0.2519)*100

So 1 in a 15.6 chance of getting them twice

Will be hilarious when Lille knocks Chelsea out.

I was going to say, Lille did win the league over PSG and will quietly prepare for this game. Chelsea may get their injured players back or may not, in which case they will have vulnerabilities that West Ham, Leeds and surprising of all Utd exploited.

Can out your mortgage on one of Chelsea and City getting the winner of Benfica-Ajax in the next round.

What a joke Of a draw. So complicated .
Surely there must be an easier way!

It really doesn't matter who we get. Every team should be taken seriously. There isn't any easy game because it can go either way. I would have much preferred PSG because I just can't stand Simeone and his tight silk shirts.

As some said, ATM is the second worst draw for us.

But, generally, this draw is bad for Manchester United: Bayern, City, Liverpool and Chelsea are favorites and either Real or PSG will be in the QF. Therefore, barring big surprises, 5 of those 6 teams will be there in case we qualify. It's going to be very difficult for United to have a run.

My expectations before the season started was getting to QF, anything beyond that is a bonus.

Now that we've won our group and drawn A.Madrid, I'm still hopeful we get to QF, but I'm not confident

Did you quote the post you actually meant to quote? Because that doesn't say anything about Atlético.
The quote was.

"Perhaps this time City and Chelsea may actually get a tricky opponent?! No of course they won't"

Last year we drew Atletico.

No one remembers who you drew last year, come on now.

We do remember your FA Cup draws all the way back to 2008 of course. But that's different!

So Ajax then. Ajax obliterated Sporting over two legs which is a much better team than Benfica at the moment.

Ajax City would be a very interesting match to see though

A word of caution on Atletico. They are the dirtiest of cnuts you can ever imagine to meet. But they still have quality players like Felix, Suarez and Griezeman. Those three and Lemar caused us plenty of problems despite us beating them. Luckily they spent most of the time feigning injury which meant they attacked us less. Had they gone for the jugular we'd have been in trouble.

Cannot complain with Villareal, really… it will be a 50-50 tie, as dreadful as we are. Even better than playing pumped-up Sporting, if you ask.

Expect shithousery galore from Atletico, their players, their manager, their fans and everyone associated with that club.

Chelsea with another typically easy tie.

Probably my least favorite of those left. Shit housing cnuts.

Would have preferred PSG from a sporting context, but I’m glad we aren’t playing them again.

I'm just glad they didn't got Salzburg, I know it was technically impossible but they're so "lucky" that you never know.
We'd asked for Olympiakos, Masielle or Seville but unfortunently they weren't avaliable this time :(

Just finished watching the Europe league knockout match between athleti and arsenal. they played with 10 man for 80 mins against arsenal away still got a draw and winning the tie at their home 1-2 it’s gonna be a struggle for us

Atletico is an easier draw than PSG, and by some margin. It's not the PSG of old, they've added a lot of quality to their team in the summer.

So are united though
I fancy our chances against them though. Better than P$G where they have the front trio that could produce a moment of magic at any given time. Atletico are largely non-threatening even for our defense
