No Messi, No UCL. - Pep
Juve ? They lost at home 3-0, what chances have they got of scoring and not conceding at the Bernabeu ?Thats jumping the gun a bit. It's the quarter finals, and with the quality of Juve and City, you can't write them off just yet. The other two games were as good as decided when the draw was made.

City need a ref to turn this round (Barca 6-1 PSG style refereeing), but they won't get one.Are you serious? You cannot write off Juventus who are 3-0 down, away from home and without their best player? They are completely out of it without any question.
City need a miracle. They will need to attack Liverpool and it will expose them to counter attacks. I think Liverpool have a good chance to score at Etihad and if that happens, I doubt City are scoring five or more.
Of course it’s also possible that Sevilla will win 6-0 in Munich and Roma will beat Barca 8-0 in the return leg but I guess that’s not going to happen either. All the games look very unexciting heading into second legs which was my point. City are probably the only team not entirely out of it and even then their chances are so slim and will probably be gone after the first half.

All the QFs are done.
That non-penalty helped massively, anyway, I agree that they're all done.Yeah I also think they are done.
I don’t think ref was as key in Barca winning that tie as PSG losing their minds in the last 10 minutes.

Marked.Sevilla will win 1-2 in Munich and go through on pens.
Mark my words.

Honestly that comment had nothing to do with Messi, if anything it'd be a compliment to say he was part of the greatest team ever ever. No?did Messi kill your children

More to do with St Pep's continual failure in the CL.
That part I don't agree with, but having the 2nd best player ever playing for him at Barca helped.Well if it wasn’t you I would maybe think it was something other than complete refusal to acknowledge the importance of the best player ever playing for him at Barca.
The most astonishing thing about last night was how City seemed to accept the outcome. It was like a family reunion where everyone resumes their old roles. In the first minutes you could see the City players heads drop, they were going oh feck, so this is how tonight will go. It was a classic stripping bare of their pretensions. I particularly enjoyed Squeaky Kevin having his ball taken away. This will play on their minds. United really should have a go at them next day. If they concede collapse could ensue. Will take some of the shine off their title stroll, and not let them celebrate it at OT.Pretty poor result as things go. I wouldn't have been surprised to lose, but I'd be lying if I said I expected us to play quite so badly, I was hoping we'd at least get a goal to take into the home tie. As it is we'll have a hard time progressing from here but well have to wait and see.
Pretty much confirms what we already knew though, Liverpools style is a really bad match for our own. Luckily I don't think it's necessarily something the rest of the league can teach themselves (or will teach themselves) for one game of the season. It does bring back memories of that period where everyone loved Dortmund's style of play though and it was the best thing since sliced bread.
Pep seriously needs to get his head of our his arse and try to play differently based on the opponent, that arrogance cost Bayern not only opportunities to play in the final for 3 seasons but also got them embarassed in 2 of them (they were maybe unlucky not to to go through against A.Madrid).
He fluked it against Juve and Porto earlier in the competitions as well, in one needing a last minute goal to go to ET and the other relying on a fantastic home performance after being beaten away, but then was throughouly beaten when against the best teams in Europe. The same has occurred today, though this time it's not even against the best team in Europe, just one who counters perfectly to his style. He managed to comeback against Porto because of his vastly superior squad, lets see if he can achieve something similar in one week.
Did you miss how much they spent on Higuain ? That Pogba money was flushed down the drain pretty quicklyLiverpool only need to maintain their composure and focus and kill the game on counter-attack. Without ref assistance, City would be hard to come back. I do think Seville is not dead, as long as they can get some luck on the next game. Seville will be getting the full squad back, and BM's defence was shaky so you never know.
Juv on the other hand is almost done. The team is really old and their youngest and most dynamic Dybala will be suspended. Don't recall Juv got any fresh blood in past 2 summer, considering they pocket the 90m from us, plus 2 CL final which should give them over 100m in revenue.

Drat, you are right of course. Whew, that could have been serious cringe. But it’s now down to what atmosphere they can muster there. Can money buy you love, etc? The Pool fans were really the 12th man last night; brought back the old tribal vibe that should be at the heart of the game. Something often sorely lacking at OT and entirely absent at Eastlands. It will be interesting to see how they react, however I think it more likely the opposite will happen and they'll focus more on the league game now that it seems unlikely they'll get through in the cup. It's the first real disheartening defeat this team have had season so I want to see how pep gets them to react. Id be happy enough with this season if they just give a couple of really good fiery performances the next two games and show that as a young team they have some resilience and back bone.
Also the game is at Eastlands, so it'd be pretty impressive if they managed to celebrate at Old Trafford
You mean City will focus now on a league game which holds no real significance in the title race and completely ignore the one competition City is desperate to win and I'm sure Pep too is.It will be interesting to see how they react, however I think it more likely the opposite will happen and they'll focus more on the league game now that it seems unlikely they'll get through in the cup. Man City didn't have a single shot on goal. They got what their performance deserved.

Don't tell @Buchan or @Infra-red. They know their football shit so you're wrong.
City were shockingly bad, but also everything was going for Liverpool. Salah was offside when he received the pass in the build-up to the comical first goal. Sané's offside position in the closing minutes which would have been the 3-1 and could have been the 2-1 was very debatable. Not that City would have deserved a much better result, but they were not only bad but also unlucky.
Maybe if you didn't actually watch the match. They scored three, could have had more, and City didn't have a shot on target. In what way is that 'flattering', never mind 'comically flattering?'Agreed here. Liverpool deserved the win but 3-0 was comically flattering to them.

Guardiola was poor last night, no question. His players were even worse and completely wilted after Chamberlain's goal. I still think the three-goal deficit flatters Liverpool as it wasn't like you completely battered them, but yeah, it was a surprisingly flat performance all-round from City and, by extension, Guardiola.

They got mullered by anyone's standards. Outplayed and totally outfought. The first goal was completely against the run of play, offside and absolutely woeful anticipation from Walker who had a great opportunity to clear the ball after Firmino's shot was saved. The second goal was a percentage shot - most of those end up in the Kop. Their third goal was a good goal but the City heads were gone by that point.
City, on the other hand, should have had a goal through Jesus when Sane was called offside despite being far more onside than Salah was for Liverpool's first and they should've had a penalty for Robinson's handball when sliding in on Sterling.
I wholly agree that Liverpool deserved the win as City were extremely flat on the night but 3-0 is a flattering scoreline, in my opinion. It's not like Ederson was battered or the City centre-halves were beleaguered chasing after Salah and co. all night. That plainly didn't happen.
