Champions League Quarter Finals (3rd - 11th April)

Quite amazing that the second legs will be basically pointless this time as everything has been decided in the first games.

Very good game by Liverpool. Hope this means City out of CL. One of Real, Barca or Bayern will knock scousers out of CL. Still reaching semis is a very good result for them and Klopp deserves plenty of praise for that. Here's to Utds win against City on Saturday.

More than likely Liverpool/Madrid/Barca/Bayern left standing
Has there ever been a more historic bunch of clubs in the semis. 27 cups between them.

Same with that Sane offside. The first goal changed the game. And a goal for City would have completely changed the tie too. Don't know about Sterling's call. Fact is 3 huge decisions went for Liverpool. They were much better than City after the 2nd goal till the end of the 1st half. That is, they totally dominated for about 20-30 minutes, not the whole game. Ludicrous is to suggest otherwise.

Man City didn't have a single shot on goal. They got what their performance deserved.

Only way that could be bettered is if Milan suddenly got good again.

The power of Anfield again. Opposition teams and fans dont believe in it, but on a European night, under the lights, there’s nowhere better. It’s not a myth, it’s an actual thing. How big a thing it is, is open to debate in some quarters, but it’s definately a thing.

Although it always hurts to see the Scouse win like that (I watched it with 2 of the beasts tonight), I can’t see them winning it so, taking into account the free pints I received from my apparently humanoid, Liverpool supporting friends (as they were somewhat happy), it wasn’t the worst evening I’ve experienced.

Can’t remember another set of QFs where I think every tie is done (obviously anything can happen, but I can’t see it).

Soooo... us being 2:0 up and than sitting back in the second half means we're a shithouse parking a bus, but them being 3 up and doing exactly the same in the second half is a tactical masterclass by the manager?

How Liverpoolish.

Liverpool were brilliant tonight and the stadium was rocking.
I have to admit being quite jealous of their style of play at the moment. If they can avoid real and Barcelona in the semi they could be in with a real chance now.

Great result tonight, only mildly disappointing thing was Henderson's yellow which was unnecessary. Tie not over yet though, hopefully get an early goal at the Etihad to calm the nerves and we should be all good. Tell you what though, I was watching Messi tonight against Roma in the post match highlights and I certainly aren't looking forward to facing him if we do manage to get through and get Barcelona.

I can't stop laughing. I fully expect Liverpool to get undone so loving the City humble pie.

The slippy giants woke up.
Hopefully only to slip again after They progress.

I joked about City scoring 5 at the emptyhad but I think you lot have done enough., Congrats!

Nope. The first half in Manchester is important but what I will say right now is no team or city get's it right like we do on a big European night. We've just proved it again.

Credit to Klop for the way he set his team.

This is the style that I would like JM to do. Trust his player and play them to their strength. And also not playing the Coward tactic.

Cause I bet if we played city at home lastnight, JM will set his team to defend first and bench Pogba for Fellaini

:wenger:

The other team is literally funded by a royal family with a history of rights abuses.

And the other is supported by dirty tracksuit wearing, permed, theiving gypos who did nothing but flaunt their trophy count before united overtook them. It’s liverpool ffs!

The whole city was rocking. It's in our Irish genes as we have feck all else to do.

The cream of Europe is back! Could it be this year is their year?

What a load of shit

I love how most posters here were claiming City to steamroll Pool.

I called it from the draw, Pool were going to beat City. Liverpool was the worst possible draw for City, besides Seville.

Why would Sevilla have been worse?

So pretty much every tie decided after 1 leg. Hopefully Real v Liverpool & Bayern v Barca for the SF

Ronaldo to annihalate Liverpool.

Maybe it is because I am not a fan of Pep, but I found it a bit odd that Liverpool FC in its official statement was apologizing to Pep in person. It was not like people attacked and abused because Pep was in there.

"We apologise unreservedly to Pep Guardiola, his players, staff and officials caught up in the incident"

If there is a side that can overcome a 3 goal deficit it is City. And if someone can blow a 3 goal lead it is Liverpool. This tie is not over.

Pretty poor result as things go. I wouldn't have been surprised to lose, but I'd be lying if I said I expected us to play quite so badly, I was hoping we'd at least get a goal to take into the home tie. As it is we'll have a hard time progressing from here but well have to wait and see.

Pretty much confirms what we already knew though, Liverpools style is a really bad match for our own. Luckily I don't think it's necessarily something the rest of the league can teach themselves (or will teach themselves) for one game of the season. It does bring back memories of that period where everyone loved Dortmund's style of play though and it was the best thing since sliced bread.

Citeh
And people slated Jose for playing defensive football at Anfield.

Thats jumping the gun a bit. It's the quarter finals, and with the quality of Juve and City, you can't write them off just yet. The other two games were as good as decided when the draw was made.
