Champions League Quarter Finals (3rd - 11th April)

Need to keep this up. Will need a change on 60. Milner will gas by then but my word what an effort. Hopefully the lack of bench depth due to injuries won't screw us.
This next half is the decisive one. If you guys don't concede you have one foot in semis. If City get one back it's an open game again.

Despite what Pep said, I think he is keen to have a good number of his players (like Delph and Sterling) up for the weekend match. His gameplan would have been to contain Pool in first leg somehow and worry about them in 2nd leg.
Spot on post. Could be a costly gamble

Liverpool absolutely battered City in the league during their first loss too. The only problem with that game was City got very lucky goals. That with Liverpool's shaky defense would honestly lead me to not write off City just yet.

Having said that, I'm enjoying the battering. Liverpool are City's kryptonite. The worry Liverpool will also crack on a win the CL is non-sense. They'll lose to whoever they draw in the next stage. So on that note, them battering City is a win-win for us.

I also cannot wait to see Pep's meltdown. Hope it ends 4-0.

Mate, unless they shit the bed, they're two games and a cup final away from winning it. In case you didn't notice, Liverpool are annoyingly actually pretty good. Saying they've got no chance at winning it is burying your head in the sand.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern being the remaining teams leads me to that conclusion. If you think they've a very good chance, based on them doing a job on teams that play into their hands, well then go ahead. Funny how Jose made this amazing team ineffective by doing the exact opposite.

Low quality football from both teams. Had the Benny Hill tune going in my head from the first goal and out the half. Tempo to high for the players, both teams doing loads of technical mistakes but only Liverpool managed to take advantage.

I can see Ings getting on the scoresheet.

Liverpool fans really embarassing themselves but I think it has feck all bearing on the result. That said given the shit City fans got for booing the anthem, UEFA better give the cnuts an empty stadium for the semi-finals.

On the other hand would we have been able to take a 3-0 lead v City in 45 minutes?

Of course not but given that tactic was one of the most discussed items on here its a very valid point. Whataboutery aside

Can’t wait for this Liverpool team to be found out by Bayern, Barca or Real.
I have heard this stuff before when AC Milan were the dominating force in the CL... EZ, the big guns will take care of them... I think that CL final thread is one of the few instances redcafe HAD to act RAWKISH and delete that thread clearly not out of pure embarrassment but to do the noble thing and save scousers from dying of laughter every year they click on that thread to look at us being all giddy when they were 0-3 down at HT.

Barcelona will get slaughtered by Liverpool, best match up possible for them and anyone who watches Barca regularly knows it.

If city get one back then the tie is back on....all.abkut whether they concede or not.

If Liverpool don't concede then they'll be in the SF

I hope Pep plays his 1st team on Saturday and they perform like today.

Yeah, that's kind of the point. If that team dominates the Premier League, that's saying something about the Premier League itself.

Lower league teams giving City a tougher time than most of the PL should have been an indicator. Bottom 10-12 teams in the Pl are all pretty awful, cannon fodder.

What a performance by Liverpool in first half. Man City completely clueless. Ederson could have saved one or two goals.

I said this to my mate. A midfield of Henderson, Milner and Ox is so average it's untrue.

The two young full backs are excellent to be fair.
All on pep and his tinkering. We just gave a blue print on how to beat this guys.

Good for us though . City will be forced to rest players this weekend

People who want us to keep spending huge money on players every summer, should really pay attention.
Look at the Liverpool lineup, look at that midfield... it shows how confidence and attitude really matter, and team cohesion.

I don't think Liverpool have been great, except winning the ball in the middle 1/3 vs. very little competition.

First goal was offside, Ox goal was unstoppable.

3 is about right for how shit City have been, mind.

Its so clear to see imbalance on City`s FBs positions i mean, glad to CB doing feck all in FB position, even when its not us, it makes me fuming. Barzagli vs Tottenham, Laporte tonight, why they getting advantage vs proper FB regardless of their status in the squad, because they were bought, more experience even they suck ass as FB, what?

It would be like Klopp putting Lovren as RFB instead of Arnold just because.

Probably one of your best ever post professor.

I'm surprised at how many people don't think Liverpool can win the Champions League

This match is win-win for the Caf isn't it ?

Liverpool win, Klopp is the best, Mourinho is crap. City win, Pep is the best, Mourinho is crap.

It shows a capable managing team with clear ideas what they want and equally capable to apply this system/way of playing on the pitch.

Liverpool smashing them makes me realise how dreadful it would be if Liverpool won the champions league
