Champions League Quarter Finals (3rd - 11th April)

I think City have too many ball playing CBs and not enough brutes, that's why their defence looks suspect when you get at them.

Best team of the epl era is losing - OMG. How will the media pundits take this.

That defence and midfield of Liverpool is piss poor . Seriously bad game by City and they are just very fragile .

I said this to my mate. A midfield of Henderson, Milner and Ox is so average it's untrue.

The two young full backs are excellent to be fair.

Guardiola is too stupid and stubborn to adapt his tactics to one of the few teams who have the blueprint to beating them. He's making a team with Karius in goal, Lovren in defence and Milner and Henderson in midfield look like an unbeatable force.

And some from here wanted us to press Liverpool like hell! This is what they do to you if you press them like crazy. There is a reason Jose is a master tactician when it comes to games like this. One goal conceeded against this Liverpool attack. 4 points out of 6.
I am pretty sure Liverpool will conceed at least one in this match!

It’s nice to see doubt creep into that City side.

Need to keep this up. Will need a change on 60. Milner will gas by then but my word what an effort. Hopefully the lack of bench depth due to injuries won't screw us.

My head isn't buried deep in the sand at all, anyone that's watched City at Anfield over the past 10+ seasons will know that they're consistently awful. This isn't really a huge shock at all and doesn't mean that Pool will be able to hold a candle against Madrid, Barca or Bayern. This tie isn't even over anyway, if City do something similar to the 4-3 earlier in the season, which is entirely possible, they'll finish the job at the Etihad. Both of them can piss off either way.
Mate, unless they shit the bed, they're two games and a cup final away from winning it. In case you didn't notice, Liverpool are annoyingly actually pretty good. Saying they've got no chance at winning it is burying your head in the sand.

Liverpool won't win the cup but you've got to give Kloppy bollocks credit. He's not working with the most talent but he has a a team that consists of a midfield of Henderson, Ox and Milner playing some of the best football on the planet.

This is where Mourinhos tactics of park the bus pays dividends. If it were us tonight, we would just sit back and defend and we definitely would not concede three. Still though Liverpool need another one to be sure (they need a lead of four clear goals IMO). If city get even one, as in it finishes 3-1, I would fancy them (city) to go through.

On the other hand would we have been able to take a 3-0 lead v City in 45 minutes?

Tell you what Bluemoon would be a good read right about now; if only they could write...

Yeah, they're playing some incredible football.

Wasn’t sure before the game but it’s hard not to laugh at this.

Hopefully the tie is still alive at full-time, though, and Pep plays the reserves on Saturday.

Wanted City to do better initially, but I'm weirdly quite calm about this result. Maybe because I seriously doubt Liverpool's chances of knocking out two more opponents when the remaining teams are Barcelona, Real Madrid and FC Bayern.

Ederson should have done more on all three goals. They weren't his fault as such, but the first one he fails to hold onto and the other two he barely even gets off his feet. A top keeper should have saved one of the three, or at least made a proper leap for the last two.

Mourinho got slated by the press for keeping a clean sheet at Anfield
Didn't deserve that but does deserve that slating making the same mistake twice at OT vs city and never really trying to play against them. We have been a joke vs them at home. Liverpool clearly showing attacking them doesn't necessarily mean losing 1-5 or whatever cliched response people on here keep using when non-sheeps on here who can think for themselves suggest "hey why not try attacking them and applying a system to put pressure on them instead of letting the opponents pass it around like Barca".

Despite what Pep said, I think he is keen to have a good number of his players (like Delph and Sterling) up for the weekend match. His gameplan would have been to contain Pool in first leg somehow and worry about them in 2nd leg.

City's formation is lopsidedly shite. Their threat going forward has been non-existent & they've been giving the ball away just in front of the defence which is trying to push up.

They're lucky it's only 3.

People shit on Milner way too much. He's been good this season and excellent in the CL.

Pep also did try to adapt and I think it's partly why they look so bad. He put an extra defender on the left because of Salah. He sacrificed width on the right and focuses solely on TAA like other teams have been doing since Mourinho showed them how. The thing is City have played the exact same way the whole season and now he messes with the game plan that made them good.

This will also be their 3rd loss in the CL in 9 games.

All of those players fit his system because they have great energy levels.

Yeah, they're playing some incredible football.
He has his stubborn side and he's not the best defensively but he's proven he can get 100% from players and he also deserves credit for signing Mane when LVG was too much of a pussy to sign him and signing Salah when he had the reputation of a PL reject. The left back is a good player too. Annoyed by Klopp.

Didn't Klop do the same with Real while in Borussia? He knows how to play against such opposition in the cups.
