Champions League Quarter Finals (3rd - 11th April)

Literally every decision favors Madrid always lmao

Seems like they always catch a big break during the knock out rounds thanks to the refs. Embarrassing club don't know how anyone can feel proud supporting them

He is clearly pushed in the back, the penalty is fair. People will look at that leg, but look at the push once he comes in, it happens before the leg goes around and possibly touches the ball. We also have to remember that the guy is clean on goal - you can’t push a guy clean on goal without consequences.

Michael Owen laughing at his own jokes.

How? They only got themselves to blame. Stupid tackle by Benatia and then Buffon acts like buffoon. No need for sympathy.

I suppose so. You can see where Juve are coming from as well, last kick of the game, petering out for extra time - Vasquez goes down super easily.

And red card for questioning the decision aggressively in a heated moment?

We all know Oliver is an attention-seeking pencil-necked arsehole. Genuinely despise the guy. He's ruined a potentially historic night.

Benatia doesn't get any part of the ball... how is it ever not a pen?

Looked like the Real player was diving in for the ball anyway, contact was minimal and I'm not sure that's the reason he particularly falls over. May have been but certainly contestable.

Without doubt a penalty. He comes in to the back of him, soft or not. Suicidal defending after such a solid display. Unbelievable they couldnt see it through.

Ronnie lashing it into the top corner, as if its the easiest kick in the world. What a legend.

I cannot understand why :-

- Allegri didn't introduce substitutes prior to that point. Yes, he was playing for ET, but, it was clear that the current set of players didn't have enough energy to counter-attack from deep. In the end, the lack of energy left in the first 11 made sure that Madrid could camp them in.
- The team just sat back after the 3rd goal. Even if Juve still attacked they could afford to concede another goal as long as they scored one, since, the away goal would have put them through. Oh well.

Surely every defence does? I haven't noticed Real being particularly susceptible to this in comparison with any other team.

You didn't just watch Costa rip them up in the Bernebau? They are old across the back and more importantly in central midfield and they can be got at quite easily for an elite European team. It's honestly just the brilliance of Ronaldo and their explosive threat on the break that is keeping them alive. That defence is rickety.

You’d be screaming too if that was United instead of Juventus. Little contact, no clear push or anything, very very soft.
Jumped in his back, and if you don't wanna call that, fine. But the leg swing around his body not getting the ball is blatant too.

What a game.

Probably a penalty in all fairness, but so harsh on Juve. Surprised Allegri didn't make a sub before full time. Juventus were dropping too deep.

fecking love football though

It's a clear foul.

If that was against your side and wasn't called you'd be livid.

That happens all of the time against every side and most of them don't get a penalty there, same as the one vs PSG.

It looks easy to signal a Penalty for Real Madrid, and the balls to do the "right call" in a leg were Juve are coming back from a 0-3 without any doubt... that's something you don't get to see out of the Bernabeu, if you think otherwise, ask Roma (and look who I support)

The irony is that Benatia should have been sent off long before the penalty call. The man was a human fouling machine.

Great decision from Oliver that and balls of steel to correctly give it and correctly send off Buffon.

Those having a pop at the ref are way off the mark.

Two wrong decisions in my opinion. Michael Oliver is a cnut of the highest order

If you remember him red carding Di Maria and leaving John Terry and Joe Hart for literally head butting him.

He just ruined the whole match and tournament. UEFA is just so bent, its laughable.

Clear push, never touches the ball, wraps his leg around him. How is that not a penalty? Some people are just delusional.

Benatia is an idiot.

Legs? Both of them?

He rather tried for both ankles at the same time. Should have been off already, has should have been Nzonzi and that cnut in their defense (that should have happened in minute 2 already). Dirty fecks knew they don't belong here and just kicked and tried to injure our players. Disgrace of a club.

That wasn't even debatable. It was a horrible way to lose but it was a peno, all day long.

Almost identical to the Bayern game from last year.
They've sold their soul to the devil. The worst part is I fancy Liverpool to do them over two legs :(

Thought that was a soft as hell penalty. Vasquez is already on his way down because he has messed up the header.
He went to chest is for some reason, he wasn't going to ground. Benatia just barged him from behind. If anything I think Vasquez had fecked up and Benatia saved him.

Too many fans on here saying stonewall penalty cos they're worried that Lpool will win the CL & would rather have RM in the SF.
People saying it's a stonewall penalty because it was.

Juve would beat Liverpool anyway. Defensively better and have the players to score

I get the argument that's a penalty, but I just can't support calling it in the 93rd minute of a CL quarterfinal. Soft as hell, and destroys the story of what was an incredible tie.

Buffon was a lot worse than those incidents, plus you don’t know what he said to him there either.
