Champions League Quarter Finals (3rd - 11th April)

And what it has needed, a bit of a shake up at the top. Just a pity that Utd are not involved and that Real will probably win it again.

What are the odds that UEFA try to keep Bayern and Real apart in the draw.
66.66%.

Anyone starting to feel this is starting to look like the 2004 competition ? Us getting knocked out of round of 16 to Porto, a big team as Milan losed to Deportivo 4-0 and all this strange stuff.

Are you telling me Sevilla is going to win UCL?

I think we'd give Roma a tight tie, Bayern would likely beat us but we might sneak it. Real would crush us...

As long as we avoid RM in the semis, I'll be content.
Other way around imho. We'd be your best shot. You're made to give us fits, for the same reasons you give fits to city: pace and aggression

Bayern can more easily match your aggression and have more overall quality

Rom are a horrible match-up for you, can outpress you and force you into the kind of game you're least comfortable with, and they know Salah. But you have slightly more quality than them, and are a better team overall

But i agree, i hope we avoid each other!

Man City should have crushed you on ability, but football's not like that. There will be no crushing at this stage of the competition for you.

You could well 05 it.

Cannot digest the fact that Liverpool are in the semis and barca are also knocked out. If they get Roma, they have a great chance to be in the finals. Please God do not let Liverpool win the cl. :nono::nervous:

First reaction was that Roma knocking Barcelona out increased Liverpool's chances, but maybe not. Hopefully Liverpool draw Real in the semi and Ronaldo sticks it to them.

No they don't. Bayern or Madrid will beat them.
4/1 with the bookies now. 40/1 earlier in the season. They're favourites against Roma if the draw each other. Another couple of jammy refereeing decisions in the final and it's completely doable.

That's Smithy and Jimbo from Whythenshawe

The last week has been like watching a puppet show implode after a blast of wind blew the puppeteer’s curtain away. There is the mechanism, laid bare. Still an impressive one, still good players. But the Pep Genius myth is dead.

It’s always funny what qualifies as slow these days. We are talking Boateng/Hummels here, likely one of the greatest partnerships of the decade.
That´s true, but Boateng has never recovered his pace after all the major injuries (in terms of length) and Hummels was never the fastest. They worked so brilliantly, because Hummels had the positioning and Boateng had the pace. Same reason why the Friedrich/Mertesacker combination worked for Germany. Now Bayern/Germany lack the Boateng pace element.

You just not watched them play regularly in the league. They concede so many chances against poorest of the oppositions but luck and messi kept them in so many games.
How are Real Madrid not winning La Liga? It's incredible they can switch it up in the CL and look a class above but in the league be so far behind.

They will win it and then Klopp loses the final against Heynckes yet again. It’s written in the stars at this point. He will be ending his career with a CL win.

Twice.
You will find most United fans rooting for you to win, behind Roma. A proper club who grew organically with their own money.

I blame Valverde. Where was Messi?

Roma have been quality whenever I’ve watched them in the CL this year. Completely battered Chelsea. They will hope for Liverpool in the next round.

Btw, there is a 200% chance the fans will sack Rome tonight

This is why this Tournament drives me crazy....

City potential 100pt 100 goals ....
Barca potential unbeaten season ....

CL makes those seem meaningless. Bonkers.

So the semi-finals have Roma who are 4th in their league and Liverpool who are 3rd. People are touting Real Madrid to win it now...who are 3rd in the league.

Starting to understand why the CL isn't all it's cracked up to be?

I feel the pair of you have completely missed the point.

The 4th best team in Italy beating the best team in Spain.
The 3rd best team (potentially) beating the best team in Italy.
Liverpool have now beaten City 3 times this year.

You're complaining about the single reason that the tournament is still exciting and relevant.

Leagues and Cups are completely different things. These sets of results hark back to when the European Cup was phenomenal to watch, before the cash-grab league element was added.

Would there still be more people rooting for Madrid because of Ronaldo? That’s the vibe I got in recent times. A lot of people also don’t want to go us too far ahead in regards to CL titles.

Klopp is going to lose another final to Bayern, it's written in the stars.

Either that, or Madrid will walk it.
