Champions League Knockouts (12 Aug - 23rd Aug)

We miss them in our squad too apart from Sanchez. Although all of them wanted out.
We miss Young and Lukaku do we?

All the calls on here were to pension off Young especially after the Wolves 1/4 final. Lukaku was a laughing stock. But now that one plays for a side that walks the league and the others are in a much easier league and had an easier route to a Europa final...we miss them?

Leipzig have been shit. So much hype for them and their coach and they have not been able to string two passes.
They are supposed to be the epitome of a ‘well coached’ team by wannabe hipsters who want ole sacked.

Would be brilliant and fully deserved considering their route to the final compared to PSG's. Doubt it will happen though.

Yeah, Bayern will likely beat them and also be favourites in the final. But seeing PSG finally get to the final and then get beat by Lyon would be about the funniest thing the CL could offer.

Sanchez
Young
Lukaku
Herrera

All left in the last two windows and all are in European finals.
Booooooo!!

Di Maria who isn't far before them, Rafael on the bench for Lyon tomorrow night too. Daley Blind who played in a CL semi-final last year also.
---------------Lukaku-------Zlatan----------
Sanchez----Di Maria-Herrera----Memphis
Blind-----Evans-----Smalling-----Young
----------------------Johnstone

This team would give our starting XI a good game.

Amos, Januzaj, Varela, Rafael, Nani, Mkhitaryan, Hernandez, Zaha are all still playing consistently too. Good for them.

PSG going 2 or 3 up and then Bayern smashing 6 past them would also be funny.

No PSG has had more difficult games than Liverpool or City have had in the last years, so even their games are often good to watch. And neutrals can watch all the other games where most teams can beat each others.

I said Ligue 1 as a whole season, not the other games. I don't think anyone is going to win anytime soon and for that reason its incredibly boring. I don't watch Bundesliga for the same reason but pretty much watch all Laliga and EPL.

City has had a difficult season. I wouldn't compare them to PSG atleast for this season.

Beating Atalanta and Leipzig to get to a Champions League has been close to gift wrapped as possible for PSG. Can see them get undone by Bayern on Sunday, they will be have much less of the ball and their full backs with be exploited.

Still will be a cracking final though.

Let's be real here, most of their players wouldn't make PSG's bench, and they lost their best player of the season. Only so much coaching can do.

Oh wait you're also the guy who created the Maguire vs Hipster defenders thread, no wonder you'd say something like this

If there has been one contrasting element between Munich and Psg its been in their clinical forward play.
Psg look like they'll create opportunities but Munich look like they'll create and score.

United just lost with a much more expensive team vs Sevilla. RBL got past Atletico and lost their most important player to Chelsea before the CL was resumed.

I don't know what people expect, for a team like RBL to achieve even more everything needs to fit and it obviously didn't with an early goal through a simple set piece.

There's multiple reasons why an individual may enjoy a league. A title race is only one of those reasons. Although I expect PSG to win the title next season, I'm personally excited to see RC Lens, especially to see Cheick Doucouré and Charles Boli. I actually made efforts to watch their games in the French second division, but had some difficulties. I'm also excited to see Reims in action, mostly because of El Bilal Touré. Similarly with Serie A, I look forward to games of Milan and Sassuolo. Although the latter is nothing to do with individuals, and primarily because of their system.

Ofcourse and I respect it. Just for people like me who actually prefer a much more competitive games between big guns, i just dont prefer Ligue 1.

But take PSG out and its probably the most competitive league with pretty much all of the 4 teams can win the title.

Occasion got the better of Leipzig. PSG Bayern should be a great Final, especially if Bayern play that mental high line they did vs Barca.

They are really well coached to get where they are. How many of those players would get into Utd? Werner would have certainly but a 33 old coach getting the best out of the 2 teams he's coached is remarkable. If he progresses the way he's doing , then why not have him as a candidate for the Utd job?
Marco Rose has more experience and I'd have him as number 1

He’s also saying that like it’s not impressive to get to a semi final of the Champions League.

Dont know why people keep saying this. Neither will move anytime soon, especially not in this climate.
Obviously not this summer and possibly not even next. But the next 2-3 years will probably both see them leave if they win the champions league. I kind of think that was always the plan regardless of champions league success or failure, but they can leave with a clearer conscious

It’s mad how people judge teams based on single games
I bet if Leipzig won or held out till the end, the reaction would be a lot different. Nagelsmann a genius, imagine what he could do with money, etc

Well, you watch football games not a league table, I don't really care about the table when I watch football. I only really care about it for United.

Watching Davies tear apart that right side will be enjoyable

I wouldn’t get too upset because this will be United next year if we’re lucky..

I expected to see some ‘patterns of play’ or whatever else it is the hipsters go on about.

Same.

And I wonder why people say they're Utd fans and watch the PL in that case...It must be soooo boring:rolleyes:

We don't miss any of them. It typical grass is greener.. crap. Some fans are really weird.

So, does winning this edition of the CL count properly? Or is it mostly a consolation CL. Or CL*, if you will?

Naturally. People seem to watch one match and decided players/managers are great or shite and then stick with that. Leipzig have been well beaten tonight but that doesn’t suddenly make them a crap, badly coached team.

You can see it with players too, where they had a few good games or even a good season and years down the line you still have people saying they’re great players and United would be mad not to sign them.

Well that was really one sided. PSG were by far the better team on the night with Leipzig lacking any attacking threat really.
Lets see how they will do in the final and who they'll play there.
Bayern against Lyon is not a foregone solution, favorites have stumbled before.

Leipzig pass the ball around well enough, but they just look like they've lost their rhythm after the second goal and the third goal killed it off. PSG look much sharper and, crucially, they're far more able to create chances. They can afford to miss two or three because there will always be another one. Should be a good watch in the final.
