Champions League Knockouts (12 Aug - 23rd Aug)

Another one for the Upamecano highlight reel. Just casually lets Bernat run right by him in the original move, then when RBL lose the ball just stops playing altogether and stands around complaining as a player is wide open right in front of the goal on his side.
@Adnan these are the types of mistakes you were talking about?

Di Maria assisted 2 and scored 1 tonight.

If only he had actually wanted to play for us.
81 goals
92 assists

173 goal involvements in 220 games for PSG.

Amazing stats that. Too bad he’s a snowflake.

Schoolboy stuff. Nagelsmann should throw towl in and just try keep the score down.
That's a contradiction. If you throw a towel in, you've surrendered. Keeping the score down requires some pride and effort

Atalanta were within minutes of beating these, I think Nagelsmann got his tactics all wrong. They haven't had any sort of control since kickoff.
To be fair PSG didn't start with Mbappe and ADM against Atalanta, that's a lot of talent right there to deal with at once.

Leipzig looking like a bottom table Ligue 1 team tonight.

PSG isn't that perfect of a team to look as dominant as they've looked tonight without some help from the opposition

ligue 1 should be incredibly boring to watch for neutrals. If PSG is involved, then it should basically be a write off, right?
There's multiple reasons why an individual may enjoy a league. A title race is only one of those reasons. Although I expect PSG to win the title next season, I'm personally excited to see RC Lens, especially to see Cheick Doucouré and Charles Boli. I actually made efforts to watch their games in the French second division, but had some difficulties. I'm also excited to see Reims in action, mostly because of El Bilal Touré. Similarly with Serie A, I look forward to games of Milan and Sassuolo. Although the latter is nothing to do with individuals, and primarily because of their system.

Would be hilarious to see Lyon beat PSG in the final.

Cheers @Fortitude

I see. So as far as you're concerned, there's room for you to provide something different as its predominantly the case where the prerogative of journalists are overly concerned with their reputation, resulting in them sitting on the fence. Also, interesting transition of ideas from legends of the game to also incorporating players trying to make a name for themselves. I wonder if you'll look to interrogate the issue of Asians at grassroots level at some point. To bring this back to the Champions League knockout, I hope your mate is wrong with his prediction.

For example Tifo and a lot of the Athletic writers are very gifted wordsmiths and I enjoy their work but it is all a little sanitised and doesn’t really put their necks on the line but some people prefer that so each to their own. On the other hand you have pundits who are very opinionated but super biased or very uninformed so I’m aiming to strike a happy medium between the two - informed but opinionated (but also happy to admit when wrong and get called out on it).

My colleagues predictions haven’t had the best success rate thus far, think it’s less than 50%. PSG killing it and I couldn’t be happier :) - would love to see Verratti win a champions league! As for the issue of Asians at grassroots, definitely a topic I will be looking to tackle - not sure which medium to use just yet but need to build up profile to do such a topic justice.

PSG didn't start MBappe nor Di Maria that game. Even then, they had fair amount of chances with Neymar alone.

Sanchez
Young
Lukaku
Herrera

All left in the last two windows and all are in European finals.
Booooooo!!

Well said.

It must be frustrating at times watching a club built on money walk the league year after year. However watching clubs develop some real talent year in year out is refreshing

Neymar and Mbappe both passing the ball in a way that makes sure the other has to pass it back

Cristiano-esque

Ok so I guess this is it, this is the season a state sponsored team wins the champions league.

You kind of feel neymar and Mbappe will leave sooner rather than later if it happens.

Leipzig have been shit. So much hype for them and their coach and they have not been able to string two passes.

Dont know why people keep saying this. Neither will move anytime soon, especially not in this climate.

Scoreline is lenient on Leipzig. If this were Bayern Munich playing, I think we'd be looking at around 6 goals. Maybe more. Makes you appreciate how clinical they were in their game the other night.
